shortly after the former head scientist’s promotion, an open meeting was called, inviting individuals interested in the rifts and interdimensional anomalies to attend the unveiling of a new largscale research program. it would take place in the afternoon, in the submarine's courtyard.[break][break]

greenery offered a break from the stuffiness of the submarine. several pokemon lounged in the trees, watching curiously. aquatic life could be seen swimming overhead through the glass roof. there were alcohol-free refreshments off to the side on a long table, and perfectly typical, uncomfortably rigid seating. a hologram projector was center-stage, though it showed nothing for now. [break][break]

awaiting the scheduled start, newly appointed underboss lulu stood near the presentation area. her poipole hovered nearby, waving to greet entering researchers and other interested attendees.

she is punctual, of course. debts are something she does not take on lightly and the underboss running the meeting is someone who currently casts a shadow over her. anya's not entirely convinced her laboratory isn't bugged, her communications tracked. it's fair enough.

though arriving a couple of minutes before the meeting starts, she is unable to beat jayden. she fetches a glass of water for herself, unaffected gaze sliding over lulu's poipole.

"i hear my colleagues and i have much to live up to," she says by way of conversation, not yet colloquial enough with the woman to offer her a casual congratulations.

This was a place Elisabeth knew well; she was one of the few who enjoyed taking care of the interior gardens of the submarine. In fact, a SUNNY DAY provided by her Sunkern could be seen in the background, tending to flowers with artificial light.[break][break]

She slipped in quietly to the meeting, a curt nod indicating her arrival as she found a seat on the outside of the courtyard.[break][break]

An unspoken greeting and congratulations was mouthed to the underboss, not seeking to detract from her fellow peer's position as the supervisor of the gathering. She flipped open a notebook, prepared to join in when the right opportunity arose.[break][break]

Where he had been informal in private during their meeting with their fellow underbosses, in the public forum Gavin greets the newly minted underboss with only a curt nod befitting his stoic nature. She'd see the pride in his eyes of familial amber, however.[break][break]

Occasionally, a large, dark silhouette and a hint of bone-white spines can be glimpsed through the overhead roof, though Lugia's PRESSURE is absent.[break][break]

Zev entered silently, dressed in his typical uniform of a bespoke black suit and tie beneath a black wool overcoat. Though science was not his forte, the meeting summary promised a briefing on the results of a DRK Triad member's interrogation, as well as a discussion on the suspicious mobile game RONDEZ-VIEW OF LUV. Zev was curious to hear both.[break][break]

He stopped first at the table of refreshments and poured himself a glass of water before taking in the scene at the courtyard. First to catch his attention was Cillian Quinn, standing to the side instead of sitting.[break][break]

Zev joined his old accomplice, greeting Gavin with a nod. The Beast then met Lulu Flint's and Elisabeth Fiorelli's gazes before nodding at them in turn. He recognized most of the others already gathered, too — a stark contrast to the summit meeting back in September when he barely knew anyone.[break][break]

He took a sip of water and waited. In his shadow, his Gengar lurked.

Oscar has never been one to make it on time to a sub-meeting, the commute was always too far. However he now worked on the sub, so he no longer had an excuse to be tardy. Oscar flew in on Genesect in its Hover Mode, sipping a hot coffee as he sped through the courtyard. His coffee was resting in his new mug that read: 'World's Best Mad Scientist'.

As he approached the meeting area, Genesect would slow down enough for Oscar to hop off. As he did so, Oscar would continue walking forward without losing any momentum. Genesect would quickly transform, marching alongside its master as he looked for a place to sit. His red lens sunglasses reflected the sun as he scanned the area, eventually resting on Cillian Quinn and Zev Harcourt .

Oscar sat himself on the other side of Gavin, taking a long sip from his mug. He would eventually look to them and ask, "Did I miss anything good?" Oscar did not make any motions toward Lulu, they already had their moment privately--she knew how proud of her he was. Genesect on the other hand had yet to have a chance, not that it completely understood what was going on. Regardless it would raise its claws as high as it could as it stood guard behind Oscar, waving them slowly to try and get Lulu's attention. That was how you were supposed to happily greet people, according to Genesect's social training anyway.

Another meeting had found itself snuggled between the dates of his overstuffed calendar. Had it not been a direct response to the correspondence he held with the newly appointed underboss Lulu Flint , it might've even slipped from his mind.

Luckily it didn't.

Small spits of whisper were exchanged between the newly arrived Admin and the equally incoming Underboss THEO BECKETT .

They didn't quite settle until the false lighting and decorative greenery tinted their skins with its vibrance.

"We should finish this later," he noted, glancing up at the older gentlemen. "I can free more of my time."

Hopefully, it would be possible for him to do the same.

Regardless, the two continued their approach of the courtyard, Felix stopping early to hover along its outskirts. There, beside Elisabeth Fiorelli , he offered a curt nod of greeting, first to Lulu Flint , then to her.

"It's an interesting endeavor," he comments, tongue loosened by the privacy that shrouded them. "what do you think of it?"

In fact, many members of Team Rocket were still filtering into the courtyard. Zev recognized Felix Gallagher and THEO BECKETT immediately, meeting their gazes and giving them short nods of greeting as well.[break][break]

"Congratulations on your promotion, by the way," Zev said, turning back to Oscar. Unlike his feelings of apathy toward most other people, Zev actually liked the new Head Scientist. "I imagine you'll be a lot busier now. No more picnics, hm?"[break][break]

The way Genesect waved its arms was a stark contrast to its behavior as the killing machine Zev knew it to be.

Amor wasn't going to wear his suit today, in fact there was no need to. At his side was a Zoroark that would conceal his identity a trick he had picked up from a previous Underboss who went by the name of Tuesday. While it had taken some time for him to procure his own, it was well worth the benefit. So the illusion of the Robo-Ninja was upheld, and he didn't have to deal with the suit in such a stuffy place. Best of both worlds as far as he was concerned, and so he walked in with his new Fox Pokemon, seeing a few familiar faces, he gave oscar clayton a nod, before looking for a place to sit. Seeing Elisabeth Fiorelli off on her own away from the crowd, he made his way over to where she was, and sat a comfortable distance from her.

Geddon curled up at his feet like a house cat as he sat down, and he ran his fingers through the black, and red fur before turning his attention to the Florist interrupting whatever peace she had enjoyed up to this point.

"Miss Fiorelli." He spoke respectfully to her. "A lot of people in the garden today...." He said somewhat bemused before he scanned the rest of the room. A lot of the big shots were here today, which meant that whatever this project was, would be something he'd definitely want to help with. "Are you excited for what is to come?" came the simple question as he pet Geddon, letting the fox purr it's contentment.

Taking a brief moment to examine the courtyard—drawing imaginary likes between people like a spider’s web. Who was sleeping with whom and which silly muffin would sell them out next? A few pleasantries were passed to the familiar faces among them. Calpurnia then moved to the table. After a moment of sampling, the violet-haired woman scooped up a cup of what seemed to be fruit punch and a freshly baked cookie. “Oh!” She took a bite, moaning her way through it. “I love snickerdoodle!”

What a quaint, silly spread! It reminded her of one of those silly summer camps her little ones adored. It certainly did not exude world-class terrorism. Smacking prim lips together, she moved to take a seat near the front of the room. At her heels as usual, a large Purugly followed. His head and bearing were almost as elevated as his master’s—though that was a difficult act to follow. He briefly moved to investigate oscar clayton’s Genesect before growing bored of the silly robot

With a warm, sultry smile, Calpurnia turned to the person next to her. When she spoke, the sound was akin to a purr. But nt not the kind you’d expect from a house cat. Freshly manicured nails stretched across one knee as her heel folded across the other. Violet eyes were ever-calculating. “Just a few years ago, a silly soiree like this would get you tossed in the loony bin.” Her eyes lifted to follow Lulu around the room. A more deserving young woman, she could describe—aside from herself, of course.

Nomi entered the courtyard with Valerian at her heels, the way she often arrived: quiet, observant, innocuous.[break][break]
Except, she wasn't as innocuous as she used to be. Despite her easily underestimated small stature, cute clothing, and young appearance, she was a very important person now: one of the most important in the room, in fact.[break][break]
The newly appointed underboss Lulu Flint had been the one to recommend Nomi to the Head Scientist position she now proudly held. It was Lulu who had considered Nomi her equal at the time, and so it was with a nod of respect that Nomi greeted her mentor and friend, taking a brief moment to stand next to the other woman at the front of the crowd that had begun to gather before them. The two of them had been through a lot together in just a few months. Now it was time to share their experiences with the rest of Rocket.[break][break]
"A decent gathering so far," she murmured to Lulu, voice low. "Hopefully more will show." Her keen crimson gaze flicked around the room. "I am keeping tabs on the Unown. If any are spying on us during this meeting, I will know about it."[break][break]
With that, she stepped off to the side to give Lulu the spotlight she deserved.[break][break]

As many others fill into the open space, Jayden recognizes many of his superiors. Ever polite, he nods both at THEO BECKETT and Cillian Quinn, even exchanging a cursory glance at anya fowl.

[break][break] He walks over to stand by Gavin and oscar clayton, glancing at the latter's Genesect. Though he had some interaction with the machine, it was still curious to see the switch between it's deadly nature and the friendly one that it seemed to be displaying to the newest Underboss.

[break][break] Violet eyes fall upon Amor Rose, who he was still surprised to see within Rocket's ranks but not unpleasantly so. Then nodding towards Felix Gallagher as he approaches Elisabeth Fiorelli, who he also acknowledges with a dip of his head.

[break][break] In response to Calpurnia Kubrick, Jayden comments in the most monotonous tone available, "I believe they are blue."

[break][break] In truth, many of the Megalopolans who roamed Sootopolis did have the telltale blue-tinted skin.
