Holy shit, Maki's choice in bread was impeccable. Aslan would need to give the Rocket a raze when the opportunity presented itself. He took another bite and passively buttered his bread. He took another bite.

Damn, even the butter was high class. This was the might of the wealthy.

When Maki's brother transformed into a creature from another world, the Aslan choked on his bread. If it weren't for the butter, the admin would have collapsed then and there. Admin Fox getting killed by a piece of bread would've made for an amusing story, but it would've landed Maki in the same landfill that Seiichi's imposter was heading towards.

"Oh shit, a Megalopolan? Hate these guys." Aslan waggled a finger as he inspected the specimen. "It's a lot of work to get one of these suckers to do anything. What'd you offer it to partake in the mystery?"

He stopped.

"A pound of flesh?" An eye glinted from behind the mask. "Unless this wasn't a mystery at all? You were just lying to us?"

Aslan slumped his head in defeat.

"I'm hurt." He gestured towards the Megalopolan. "I'm surprised you spared the brother. That's generous of you."

Well, she would expect that another Megalopolan would be giving them their time of day here. After the incident with the Blood Moon Ursaluna and being kidnapped by those blue-skinned alien-like people, she would think they’ll be hiding in Hoenn. Both Josh and Elaine had everything happened for the culprit and when the key is given to the ambassador, she’ll take it to help free the real Seichii from captivity.[break][break]

With Lutgarde and Maki accomapnying her to the locked bathroom, it doesn’t take long for the royal diplomat to turn the key into its lock. She could only hope that at least the real Seichii was unharmed by the Megalopolan, Arceus knows that those people were vicious cannibals that would eat people if that one tried. [break][break]

Nonetheless, Elise doesn’t expect Howard to get serious either. She thought that he hadn’t been entirely when the rest of the group were investigating and he was off somewhere in the room…[break][break]

Maybe she did underestimate how serious he can get.[break][break]

Josh gasped; they hadn't been playing in a giant escape room the whole time. This was a real mystery, a real crime, and had a very real victim and perpetrator. And that perpetrator was a Megalopolan, at that. If there were people the Gym Leader trusted less than the Megalopolans, it was Josh.

The Master of Faster gave the blue face a death stare, one that howard slayte may have been more than familiar with during their meeting at Dewford. He would aggressively grab the arm of one of the accused. "I'll hold them down while you unlock the door, Elise. This isn't over yet."

- Josh realizes that this is no game and it was a very real murder mystery.
- Josh gives the Megalopolan a death stare howard slayte might recognize.
- Josh holds the Metalopolan by the arm and asks Elise Calcifet to unlock the door.

MEMBER-LED EVENT RUN BY NEWT

Elise Calcifet and Lutgarde Dijkstra will find the key unlocks the bathroom door, opening to reveal what at first seems to be a regular, if somewhat full, golf club bag. Once they unzip it, they will expose the truth; the real Seiichi Yukimura is stuffed inside, sleeping soundly. The megalopolan must have intended to sneak him out in this bag, somehow, hoping that in the confusion they would not be seen. It's up to Elise and Lutgarde then if they wake Seiichi up, or simply cart him back to the dining hall in the bag, making it much easier to carry him. He's sleeping deeply enough that it seems likely he was artificially put to sleep... perhaps a Sleep Powder or something else was used?[break][break]

"Don't be an idiot," the false Seiichi growls at ~~howard slayte~~ Aslan. "Eventually, dead bodies start to rot, and you have to dispose of them. That means they'll eventually be found as well. Keeping the little idiot alive would allow me to play his role indefinitely, until I'd gotten what I want out of it." Was it the money he was after? The fame? Or the secrets of the Yukimura family, so he could blackmail them into doing his bidding? He doesn't offer up this information, instead choosing to fix his gaze on Elaine Highland . He clearly holds her responsible for the foiling of his plan, but Josh Devlin nearby gives him pause.[break][break]

It's then that he decides to move, just as Elise and Lutgarde are returning. He violently rips his arm out of Josh's grip, and turns on him, a glint of steel flashing in his hand. It's a kitchen knife that he points at Josh's throat, grabbing the gym leader and backing away. The tip of the knife digs into Josh's skin, causing a thin trickle of blood to well up and slither down his neck. "Enough," the megalopolan growls. "Unlock the doors. I'm leaving."[break][break]

Maki seems... awfully calm, considering what's happening. What parts of her expression can be seen under the mask give nothing away, as she slowly approaches the megalopolan, heading towards the door. She makes as if she's going to enter the hallway, doing exactly as he commands... but then she twists around and, quick as a Seviper, grabs the wrist holding the knife and wrenches it forcefully away from Josh. The megalopolan panics, and the blade of the knife slices through the palm of her hand, drawing blood. The move buys enough time away from the knife for Josh to retaliate, and Maki barely even seems to notice the pain.

The admin does nothing, barring a few steps towards Josh Devlin. The Gym Leader is a threat to Team Rocket, but he is also a friend, a foe, a competitor.

Still, the Megalopolan holds a knife. Flashes of Route 119 fill the admin's visage, and his eye twitched as a result. It was not a pleasurable experience, but Rocket held a small group of Megalopolans within Sootopolis, alongside Velmos and Jules at their head. This one was a remnant that had lost its home, and was trying to reclaim it.

Aslan's mouth twitched. He blinked, and Maki acted.

"SHIT!" Aslan backed up as the dance of blades and flesh and blood began, his body bumping into a bowl of bread. With little to do, Howard emptied the breadbasket and threw it at the Megalopolan. "TAKE THIS!"

He'd deal with Maki later, when Rocket could convene.

The golf club bag is definitely strange in the bathroom, so Lutgarde doesn't hesitate to move forward and unzip that swiftly - and sure enough, Seiichi is there, the real one, fast asleep and unharmed. "Shall we wake him?" they ask Elise Calcifet after a short investigation that he's indeed uninjured. They'd be ready to simply carry him back if need be, or assist should he need some after spending supposedly hours asleep in a golf bag. His sleep does seem persistent ...

As they return to the dining hall, several things are happening at once. The Megalopolan moves to take Josh Devlin hostage, and Lutgarde immediately stills, mind racing for options to keep their ranger colleague safe. MAKI YUKIMURA seems awfully calm and in control of the situation still, however, so Lutgarde doesn't move immediately, simply watch and follow their movements for the time being ... until everything starts to blur.

Silver metal, red blood - bread? Surprised, Lutgarde turns to howard slayte's direction as they see bread being sent flying, just in time to see that a bread bowl's been sent flying, too. For a moment, they are stunned, unsure what exactly has just transpired - but they'd catch themself quickly, and would go to assist either in capturing the Megalopolan or medically aiding Maki should she allow it.

tl;dr
- does a quick investigation to see if seiichi's all unharmed, leaves it to elise to wake or not wake
- unmoving as the megalopolan takes josh hostage, leaving maki to deal with things firstmost
- perplexed by the bread attack, then moves to help capture the megalopolan or help maki treat her wound

The more that happened, the more confused she had become. The culprit's refusal to provide any further information on his motives? Normal.

Taking Josh a hostage was one thing. She was never the best when it came to those kinds of situations, but she could still manage it and understand it.

Maki taking the opportunity to change the tides and free Josh? Also completely understandable.

Howard Slayte taking the opportunity to use the vaunted and forbidden technique, BREAD BLAST, however, was the moment her brain began to short-circuit.

After taking a moment to take a deep breath and recollect herself, she charged straight in, however. She was not the most competent martial artist, but she did have some tricks up her sleeves. Even if her heels were in the way, she could still aim to do the one thing that always seemed to work.

With a palm strike, she aimed to simply hit the Megalopolan really hard.

As the Megalopolan hurled Josh's arm away, he tried to regain control of his hold with the suspect, only to find himself at knifepoint. The blade drew blood; the Gym Leader let out a hiss as he felt the sting of air against sensitive internal skin. Even so, he did not panic; his time in Dewford, taking the Champion Assessment, and riding fast as a race car gave him the nerves of a Cobalion.

When Maki freed Josh from knifepoint, he made a quick leg sweep, attempting to trip his former captor and pin them down once again. "...You're not going anywhere other than Law Enforcement for questioning," the Gym Leader declared from beneath his helmet. As his eyes shifted toward Maki, they were... bleeding badly from the stabbing. If someone didn't stem that bleeding, they wouldn't make it. And medical was not the Leader's forte.

"Someone get these doors open and get us our Pokémon," Josh urged. "We need a healing Pokémon or someone with medical training!"

- Josh stays calm under the pressure of the knife, wincing and hissing when it draws blood but otherwise remains silent.
- Josh urges for someone to either get a healing Pokémon or who knows medical training to assist the bleeding Maki.

When the door opens for both Elise and her fellow ranger, she finds the real Seichii sleeping peacefully in the golf club bag after Lutgarde unzips it. She’s relieved that Seichii was there in one piece and that the Megalopolan hadn’t ate him up. “Thank goodness, he’s alright.” The ambassador makes a sigh of relief and when Lutgarde Dijkstra asks if they should wake up, Elise gives a nod. “Yes, we should wake him up.”[break][break]

Her white gloved hands gently shake Seichii awake, he probably must’ve been sleeping for a while when they couldn’t get into the bathroom without the key. “Please wake up now. We need you.” Once Seichii does wake up, she and Lutgarde could take him back to the dining room to meet up with Maki and the others. [break][break]

Seiichi is woken up by Lutgarde Dijkstra and Elise Calcifet . He blinks his eyes, and mumbles something about not expecting to see two angels, wondering if he's died and gone to heaven. After that he staggers to his feet, still exhausted, walking after Lutgarde and Elise like a zombie as they both make their way back to the main room. He keeps yawning and rubbing his eyes, completely out of the loop as to what's been going on. Well, at least this time, it's not his fault. Mostly. [break][break]

The time for games is over, something howard slayte doesn't seem to understand when he panics and throws his oh-so-excellent bread at the perpetrator. Elise Calcifet and Josh Devlin are a bit faster, with Elise striking the megalopolan with the palm of her hand and then Josh sweeping his feet out from under him. The megalopolan crashes to the ground, and this is when the remaining employees finally rush into action. The maid and the two servers hurry forward, and pin the megalopolan down. With all three of them holding him, he seems to know when he's been beaten, the metaphorical whites of his eyes showing as the horror of his reality dawns on him. "M-mercy!" he begs. For some odd reason, he directs this at Maki, as if she's the one he's most afraid of here. [break][break]

Maki accepts Lutgarde's help, allowing her guest to try and staunch the flow of blood. "It's not as bad as it looks," she says. "I'll be alright." It's hardly the worst that's ever happened to her. "...I do apologize for my attempt to deceive you all. I needed everyone to stay calm and play along-- it worked, thankfully, as we caught the culprit before he could escape."[break][break]

Everything moves quickly after that. Security rushes in with a first aid kit, and they take the megalopolan away. Maki's hand is tied tightly, pressure put on the wound to slow the flow of blood. The wound itself will need stitches, so Maki excuses herself to get proper medical care. The maid tearfully apologizes to everyone over and over for their bad experience, and Seiichi does the one useful thing he's done all day by promising to repay them for their assistance in, quite possibly, saving his life. After that, the VIP members are free to mill around and close out the evening, even given the option to raid the kitchen and pantry for more food if they'd like, as thanks for their help.
