A ghostly river. "I wonder where they're going," Cass asks Vespa Baskerville as she watches the swarm from the shore, not daring to actually be on a boat while the swarm's in the water. One or two of them, sure, but so many and it feels like she's straight-up on the Lethe and about to be taken to the Underworld.

Maybe that's the appeal for some?

She does ponder, however, and eventually locks eyes with one member of the swarm.

Well, there goes nothing, as a pokéball goes flying.

Despite having neither the patience nor the experience for it, a particularly chipper—yet particularly tired—Bella had found herself waiting casually, a rod in hand, by the riverside, sitting atop a pristine white plastic chair she'd dragged out here after hearing about the swarm, well, pristine beyond the mud that now marred the legs of the rather flimsy, wobbly chair. She'd been quite clearly out of her element, armed with a far too brittle and flimsy rod meant for catching Claunchers, something about their flexibility and small size assisting with actually properly hooking the little blue crustaceans. Most importantly and far too typically, she'd been dead tired, looking rather pale, dark bags under her eyes, a sore neck that she'd constantly moved about trying to regain some mediocrum of comfort, long yawns and jittery hands and legs, all signs that Bella'd forgone sleep over the last several days.[break][break]

Regardless of the streamer's far too awful sleeping habits, here she was, slouched lazily on her chair, a sports cap covering most of her face and shielding her eyes from the sun, her two favourite little cats on her lap as she'd decided to spend the day fishing, if only for a chance to try and catch one of these spooky thangs. Variety was the spice of life after all, she couldn't spend all her days putting herself in precarious situations exploring supposed haunted locales, not seeing the light of day for weeks on end all the time, right?[break][break]

Yet, Bella hadn't really accounted for just how long it takes for anything to really bite when one goes fishing. Seconds turned to minutes, minutes stretched on for... she wasn't really keeping count, and the cats on her lap were... really warm... and fluffy... more importantly, if she leaned onto one side... the sun wasn't so bad on her eyes... and...[break][break]

Just like that, Bella'd fallen asleep in her lawn chair she'd brought out here, still somehow keeping a grip on her fishing rod as she'd dreamt of those catch and cook 'tubers who made a living of roughing it out in the woods like this.[break][break]

She'd be in for a rude awakening when something had actually snagged her rod, yanking her out of her chair as her Sprigatito and Litten had leapt out of her lap as she'd practically screeched, nearly falling into the bass infested whitewaters.

A river by Route 119 had a swarm of Basulin and their Basculegion friends. The ambassador knows that Basculegion evolved from a certain striped Basculin and they were part Ghost type too…[break][break]

They were fitting party members for her league of ghosts that were friends with her. Elise releases her Calyrex shard, her Zoroark, and the shiny Zorua out to see them too. Inari picks up Kuro to let the little shiny fox stay in her mane as if she was acting as a big sister to the small Zorua.[break][break]

Charles looks down at the swimming fish Pokemon as he had never seen them up close. Blue eyes from the hare king watch the movements of the bass Pokemon, almost if he considered to fish them up.[break][break]

Elise hasn’t done fishing much before, that was what her father tended to do when he went there to many beaches in Hoenn. Her father really liked to fish when Elise was around, it reminded her father of the times that he fished while her late mother was alive…[break][break]

A splash of water came from the other direction where the Galarian ambassador looks down at the fish and she sees that the female Zoroark caught one of the fish in her paws. [break][break]

Inari was faster than she was and Elise hears another splash of water at Charles’ end. A little laugh came from the princess when she sees that the shard of Calyrex tried to catch one of the fish Pokemon with his bare paws and got himself wet in the process from the river waters.[break][break]

They supposed it was time to go fishing.

Makoto watched as the schools of Baculegion and Basculin travel upriver, sitting at the water's edge. The brilliant colors of the Basculegion were eyecatching - beautiful, even, if in a haunting and melancholic way. They forged on in the name of those lost in much the same endeavors.

When one of the fish forging upriver strays a little from the school though, Makoto pulls out a pokeball - wondering if this was an opportunity.

All she needed was a good spot to watch the migration of the Basculegions and their Basculin counterparts. Galayne had been going the wrong way for quite some time when she came across a kind, jolly man fishing for some of the Basculin.

"Nice they for fishing, innit? Huh-hah!"

"I guess it is, isn't it?" The Kalosian smiled at the man's chipper antiques, deciding to join him for a bit. At least this way she'd be certain she wouldn't wander further away from the breath-taling swarm.

Maybe she should even try her hand at fishing, too. Then again, those Basculegions did look rather intimidating, especially when breaking through the water lile that.

The only water type that Ace had was Jellicent. There were two others that he wanted to give him some flexibility or at least some options. And this swarm was a perfect opportunity. He hadn't been fishing in a while, but the rod he had dug up the funds for was for large fish, just like Basculegion. The shore would be his hunting spot, since going on a boat in this swarm would be suicidal. Togedemaru was at his side, ready to use Zing Zap on his catch. The extra training would be nice for the cute rodent. Electric fishing would be cool to do, but also a bit unsportsmanlike. Not to mention dangerious. Patiently, he cast his fishing rod out, and waited. Good things come to those that wait...hopefully it would come to him in some shape or form.

back when they were younger, kasper had loved the idea of being some sort of fishing champion. it as an idea that had faded with time, but sometimes the thought of it made them nostalgic. which is why, when they had heard of the swarm, they thought they should try catching one of the pokemon out again.

Hardly a day back in the region and Locke was already missing the fishing in Alola. Crystal clear water, sand as white as snow, the warmth of the sun...

Or maybe they just missed not getting swallowed by their catches.

They weren't quite sure how to best cook the ghost of a fish, but they were sure willing to learn after forty minutes of pulling themselves and their Delibird out of its jaws.

Clover nudged Archen over onto the other shoulder. "I need to focus, dude, chill!" But this kind of activity was too laidback for the energetic fossil pokemon. "Wait til I get a bite at least." Archen was no little buddy like the kind they could find an online fishing game, but he was usually good company. Now, though, he was antsy and unhelpful.
