WAR OF THE WORLDS RAID
SETTING: LATE SEPTEMBER
THIRD DAY OF THE WAR
KARTANA FOREST
AS AN INEFFABLE AMOUNT OF KARTANA swarm through the forest, the cacophony of splintering wood and cut flesh buzz in your ears.
Adrian Malcolm is swift to react. Bolting into action, his Alakazam and Gardevoir manage to
PSYCHICALLY swerve the origami creatures away. In the space created, his crimson Gyarados lunges out from its ball, chomping an incoming tree in half.[break][break][break]
His Grimmsnarl continues the attack as
Andy Blackadder's Sharpedo follows suit. Kartana strike against the Shark Pokemon's body— but the
ROUGH SKIN protects it somewhat. The Pokemon takes injuries from the lingering Kartana that continue to strike at its body. His Yanmega and Gengar fare better, able to evade and attack against the others.[break][break][break]
Remiel Calcifet and his squad continue forth. While his Gardevoir
DOUBLE TEAMS, his Duraludon
PROTECTS. However, the sheer number of Kartana means that the protection will not last for long. As a
SIGNAL BEAM bursts out from his Ampharos, several enemy troops recoil, clearing the way to Guzzlord.[break][break][break]
However, the Kartana remain a threat. Other Megalopolans chase after them and those who remain in the woods.[break][break][break]
KARTANA ON GUZZLORD PATH
AS THE GUZZLORD ROARS, gigi bae's Porygon struggles to cling on to life. Despite its synthetic make, these Ultra Beasts are otherworldly invaders. Hoenn's contemporary history has documented their terrifying presences before— and it is as if they are apex predators placed into an ecosystem they can wreak havoc in.[break][break][break]
Thankfully, Elite Four,
Thomas Benoit and his Clawitzer and
Balder Schwartz's Galarian Ponyta direct their healing to the streamer's Pokemon. Bathed in
HEAL PULSES, the Porygon seems to stabilize and is
now safe.[break][break][break]
As the Kartana swing toward the group,
Thomas Benoit's Hydreigon unleashes flames alongside his Scizor. Their paper-like bodies begin to shrivel in the element, providing time for @moana's Pokemon to set
STEALTH ROCKS along the path. His Sigilyph's
AIR SLASH cuts a Kartana in two before it can strike their master, allowing the trainer to flee.[break][break][break]

A dramatic light consumes
gigi bae's Charjabug. As it manifests into its new form,
STICKY WEBS fly from its mandibles. They accompany the
STEALTH ROCKS in Guzzlord's way. Her Rotom attempts to
CONFUSE the Guzzlord as she glides away on her Venusaur— however, the Kartana follow her as they sweep toward the truck. Her Venusaur begins to sustain injuries as it
tanks a relentless rush of cuts. However,
Balder Schwartz's Duraludon and its
METAL SOUND manages to stall the Kartana's attack, the discordant noise piercing everyone's ears.[break][break][break]
Raziel Beckett's Flygon flies its trainer and his Gallade out of the Guzzlord's rush. As it does so, his Metagross and Flygon strike against the ravenous beast. This close, the Ultra Beast towers above, almost blocking the sun. As the bright shine of a
FLASH CANNON accompanies
Remiel Calcifet's earlier
SIGNAL BEAM, his Zeraora uses
POWER UP PUNCH with Gallade's
PSYCHO CUT to protect the group; however, the Kartana follow
Raziel Beckett. They strike against his draconic mount.[break][break][break]
As Flygon sustains injuries,
Raziel Beckett finds his aerial ride
struggling to stay in the air, now unable to sustain both his and Gallade's weight! Thankfully for
gigi bae and
Raziel Beckett, before their Pokemon can take anymore damage for their trainers,
Balder Schwartz's Camerupt
MEGA EVOLVES. Possessing an incredible surge of energy, the Camerupt
ERUPTS, burning the rest of the Kartana on the path.[break][break][break]
CYCLING ROAD
THE CHAMPION'S MOTORCYCLE ENGINE ROARS as she speeds down the road. Her Togekiss flies forth, attacking alongside the gargantuan Mega Steelix that
IRON TAILS a group of Megalopolans off the bridge.[break][break][break]
[break][break][break]
With a crash of steel, Megalpolans hit the water, splashing violently as
kyle lopez dashes in on his Manectric. As they clear the way,
Lulu Flint's Weezing strikes several Naganadel with
THUNDERBOLT; however, the electricity is swiftly siphoned into
kyle lopez's
LIGHTNING ROD Manectric to empower it. Next, his Type: Null assaults the remaining Naganadel that sweep in with a
TRI-ATTACK. The attack is potent. The canine seems to be in its element, striking the Ultra Beasts with ease as the Elite Four's Smeargle burns Kartana with
SACRED FIRES.[break][break][break]
Perrserker rushes to the vanguard with
Lulu Flint's Weezing. As the Cycling Road is cleared of enemy reinforcements, Kartana attempt to strike the Galarian feline. However, its
BATTLE ARMOR manages to stave off fatal cuts.
However, due to their sheer numbers, several Kartana strike at
Lulu Flint's Weezing,
kyle lopez's Smeargle and
Bailey Cooper's Togekiss,
causing injury. Some pester The Champion's Mega Evolved Steelix like sharp flies— but Rocket Head Scientist,
circe crowley's Gengar and Dragapult help clear the rest. Kartana and Megalopolan alike are tossed aside in a weave of flame and a flippant wave of
PSYCHIC energy.[break][break][break]
THE TRUCK
THE HEAD SCIENTIST jams his poor Ditto into the key slot. As the Ditto frantically
TRANSFORMS, its gelatinous body manages to find every nook and cranny, and is able to start the engine when
Lucas Lane turns the key. His faithful Machamp fires
FLAMETHROWER at incoming Kartana— but his Aegislash manages to
KING'S SHIELD the side door in time before a rush of Kartana
SLAM into it.[break][break][break]
Arriving on Aerodactyl,
Rex Drago proves pivotal in the defense of his superiors. His Armaldo
PROTECTS at the right moment, stopping a large swathe of Kartana from catching
marcel maeda,
Cillian Quinn and
dominic sinclair. His Fossil Pokemon retaliate as
Kaine Ikari's Venomoth uses
GUST to take some of the Kartana away temporarily.[break][break][break]
Rocket Admin,
marcel maeda's Gardevoir forces the truck's back doors to swing open as the Underboss,
Cillian Quinn retaliates against the cloud of Kartana with his Pokemon. His Lycanroc, Metagross, and Lucario retaliate with their fists while Corviknight's armor gleams with an
IRON DEFENSE. It manages to deflect several Kartana before he's dragged into the back by Admin
marcel maeda.
Samuel Boothe follows inside too, and he returns his Manectric and Milotic, their
FLAMES AND ICE lingering in the air as Kartana fall. The Admin's Golduck
PROTECTS against a swarm of Kartana, biding them enough time for Gym Leader
Katherine Fairburne to reach the truck as well.[break][break][break]
Her Reuniclus
FUTURE SIGHTS, but visions can never be clear. Something is happening in this realm. As the Reuniclus attempts to discern what may happen, it discovers a
multitude of possibilities as if space and time are being torn asunder.[break][break][break]
Underboss
dominic sinclair's Shadow Luxray manages to
WILD CHARGE into a group of Kartana, its ability allowing it recklessly strike with full force with no drawbacks; Togekiss follows up quickly, a
METRONOME causing a billow of flame to finish them off.[break][break][break]

When the engine starts,
the CD player turns on at a volume way too loud for human consumption. Inside, the speakers blare alongside screeching wheels as
Lucas Lane slams on gas pedal.
circe crowley and
Lucas Lane's Machamp would need to hold on to their seats, for the truck lurches into action. Inside,
Katherine Fairburne,
marcel maeda,
circe crowley, and
Cillian Quinn rest on benches. Crates of supplies, covered in blankets and secured to the floor and wall, cause everyone inside to feel too cozy for comfort. However, a large metallic
THUD startles everyone inside, for
Kaine Ikari has landed on the vehicle's roof.
Samuel Boothe's Salamence roars as its
PROTECT prevents a Naganadel from carrying
Kaine Ikari off; the dragon swiftly cuts into the Ultra Beasts neck before resuming its flight beside the truck.[break][break][break]
Behind them,
dominic sinclair's Steelix trails behind, levitating with the help of
MAGNET RISE. The ex-Gym Leader
cait alfric, follows on her Braviary. Several Kartana cut her skin and her Braviary; however, before they can sustain anymore injuries, the Kartana are deflected by
Lulu Flint's Blaziken, who
FLAME BURSTS the last swarm away. Curiously, the Blaziken finds its speed revert to normal as
dominic sinclair's Darkrai spreads a
HAZE.[break][break][break]
GUZZLORD ATTACKS
AS THE GUZZLORD DRAGON RUSHES forth, the
ENTRY HAZARDS slow it somewhat; however, it begins to use its
TONGUES, the claw-like appendages stretching out from its maw, to scoop stone and web into its stomach.[break][break][break]
When it reaches the end of its mad dash, the Guzzlord attempts to swing its mace tail for a powerful
DRAGON TAIL. Its tongues then lash out, attempting to grab anyone close.[break][break][break]
[break][break][break]
After dealing with the Megalopolan soldiers, those in the wood (
Andy Blackadder and
Adrian Malcolm)
can assist those above with the Guzzlord, should they reunite with the Hoenn force in the path.[break][break][break]
WHEN THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTS TO MAKE ITS FIRST TURN, the Guzzlord waiting below lunges forth. It fires a
HYPER BEAM from its maw toward the incoming truck. [break][break][break]

kyle lopez and
Bailey Cooper, ahead of the vehicle due to bypassing the need to start an engine, will be able to see that the
HYPER BEAMING Guzzlord's tongue-arms are attempting to tear down the Cycling Road path so that the vehicle would fall into the Guzzlord below.[break][break][break]

These Guzzlord are little weaker than the ones in Hoenn's past. Eventually, it becomes clear to those facing the Guzzlord that there is one way to cripple them:
