Her jewels glittered in the light of lanterns, as did her eyes. The way they held Lulu’s was not so much out of a desire to explore as it was an inability to escape. When she couldn’t run, she froze in situations like these, and confusing intimacy with FERNANDO SILPH had recently renewed skittish behavior and detached her further from other people.

Even the smallest flirtation was overloading and grounds to flee. Unfortunately, there was no fleeing from the royal court. Maybe not twice, anyways.

“Well, glad I could be of assistance—”

Just as her hand was released and she began to breathe relief, giving the stare a break, a familiar face flashed in the background. Refocusing past Sabine’s head, Lulu glimpsed skyler dross at a game table a few tents down the way, not dead, very much alive.

Oh, fuck me.

Choosing an awkward time with the princess over the captain and inexorable chaos, she began to turn in the other direction, ushering her along as respectfully as possible. “Not alone, now. Honored to have your company.” She forced a wisened smile. “Shall we?”

Whis was bouncing on their toes as the other ranger seemed to offer them something. It may have made putting on the bow a little harder but they were excited none the less. This was fun and bright and exciting and new! So new! The white cat looks at their trainer and Salem as the usual stiff Razz gives the kitten a smile. "You're adorable, Salem," he calls to his Meowstic as Salem ends up jumping onto Whis and Razz takes out his phone to take a picture of the two of them. [break][break]

After the picture was done Whis looks back to @chloe to seem to try and give their thanks. "Sure... why not," he shrugs as he would allow the other to lead the way. Razz still scanning around as they head to the booth. He was quick to be uncomfortable with how close everyone was to them. One of the many calls seemed to grab the attention of both his pokemon as Whis was quick to stop following the other ranger as they headed to one of the booths. [break][break]

Razz was quick to try and follow as they were brought to a booth that seemed to be selling? Playing? something with Magikarp. "Those are not for eating," he informs them, but his feline pokemon seem to ignore the way the Magikarp swam around in a hypnotic manner. Whis looks over to Chloe as he points to the karp pokemon. It seems they're trying to get you to play because going to his own trainer might be a failure. He sighs, "You want to try?" [break][break]

Wearing a traditional hanbok, decorated in lotus flower print to signify his status as royalty, Remiel entered the grounds of the festival from its southern border. Walking alongside him was his personal friend, and carpool companion, the gym leader Alexei Ivanov. Trailing close behind him, in the meantime, and wearing a set of bells on each wrist held snug by red bands, Thorgrim the Galarian Meowth snickers.[break][break]

Remiel is quick to side-eye the cat as they walk into the pavilion ahead, surrounded by the clamor of people and pokémon alike. "Cause me trouble tonight and the consequences will be twice as severe as usual, cat." He sternly warns, quirking a single brow. "Behave and I'll treat you to dumplings." Why he bothered with the mischievous little devil, with horn-like fur to match, even he didn't know.[break][break]

But it'd been in his family for years, he supposed.

Stopping at a water fountain with a Whiscash sculpture at its center, the royal scans the area with nonchalant eyes before addressing his human companion. His pokémon companion, in the meantime, leans over the fountain's edge as it gawks at the glittering coins therein.[break][break]

It was a little difficult to put the ribbon onto Whis as the pokemon kept fidgeting about, but she finally managed to do it and was sure to make secure so it wouldn't fall from movement. Chloe beamed upon seeing Whis's reaction joyed with just the little bow she had put on him. "Yes both of you are so cute!" She agreed looking over as Razz snapped a photo of the two pokemon. Chloe lightly chuckled happy to see that Razz seemed to enjoy it. Usually he seemed so serious so it was nice to see this side of him. "Hmm?" She turned to look at Whis who tried to get her attention, from her perspective the pokemon was trying to thank her. Chloe smiled crouched down a little and gave the pokemon a pat. "No problem! I'm glad you like it!" Giving a thumbs up towards Razz, the two eventually ventured towards the center of the festival - where the crowds were pretty large.

Even Chloe began getting annoyed upon how many times people would push past her without even acknowledging it, she was trying to be careful and avoiding contact with other people - guess not everyone could be so considerate. She didn't even notice that Razz wasn't following her, it was twinkle, her ribombee that alerted her. Seeing that Razz and his pokemon had stopped at what seemed to be a game booth, Chloe attempted to peer over the crowd slightly curious as to what it was. "Sure! I'm game!" She responded happily. The game did look familiar - it made Chloe remember the time she won Jonathan that dragapult plushy a few months prior at a different festival.

"Oh so the prize is a magikarp.. how fun!" Chloe said aloud looking over the rules, which were basically the same. All she needed to do was attempt and move the magikarp to the other side of the tank without breaking the net - simple enough! Waving to get one of the workers attention, they handed her one of the fishing nets. "I've done this before! It's pretty simple just gotta go for it." She advised to Razz, deciding that she'll do it first to show him how it's done. Grasping onto the fishing net, she awaited for the perfect chance to nab an unexpecting magikarp. Though Chloe failed to realize that the fishing net was not strong enough to support the pokemon's weight - causing it to break and the pokemon to fall back into the tank. Blinking a few times, Chloe laughed loudly feeling slightly stupid. "Well that's basically how it's done! Go ahead Razz"

Razz rolled his one visible eye, nothing malicious or anything behind it. It was more of a he knew his cats were going to ride that compliment for days. And with Salem being out of his pokeball as much as he was the ranger felt like he would hear it non-stop. When they were at the booth the young man just did what he could to pay attention to the vendors about how the game worked. [break][break]

As Chloe tries her attempt the cats seem to chuckle at her try as the magikarp easily broke through it. As she failed he tried to offer a sympathetic smile, "Well I'm sure it's better than whatever I can do, I haven't tried this before," and honestly he didn't really want to try it. Though with now 3 pairs of eyes on him he didn't feel like he could refuse. He takes out what little pocket change he has and hands it over to the vendor to pay for the other ranger's attempt and his own. "I couldn't let them try right?"[break][break]

Razz ask as he points to the cats and the vendor just gives him a glare, "Ya seen the look in their eyes right?" they ask him as the ranger has to look down at them again. They were very much like predator the way they followed them, "Right right." With that he does take the flimsy fishnet and tries his best with it, fumbling along the way as games were not his forte.

ARCEUS CHRIST!" when he heard about the taurous rides that they had at the festival he was under the impression that it meant that one would ride on the back of a trained pokemon to tour the many sites of the city on top of them. that or be some kind of new age cowboy that would try and tame a wild and bucking one into submission. now the latter one was true with a few miscommunications like how some of these so called rides were actually mechanical tauros for people to try and brave riding one.

cut to the present and the blonde is busy hugging the side of the metal bull with his legs tightly clenched around it as he does his best to try and sit up as straight as possible as it bucks. naturally he starts to slip and holds onto the bot's own thick neck to try and even have a chance to stay on as the workers who operated it started to turn up the intensity. "somebody help meeeeeeeeee!" he screamed as it started to turn and spin perfectly in one large circle.

This is exactly the sort of shit I don't need in my life right now. He pretends to be preoccupied with his apple, making vague gestures of acknowledgement, even audacious enough to take a second bite and mincing over it before allowing Gavin to take up his time. "Spose I am." He still wasn't entirely comfortable around this person.

"And you?" Supposing Adrian is curious as to why Gavin's here, he might listen to whatever answer Gavin decides to give. But it is hardly the idle gossip of friends and family. There's a buffer between them that Adrian is intent upon keeping. 'Ten foot pole' theory and all that, though he had resigned to this evening ending in ruin. If nothing else, Hoenn was consistent in its awfulness and tragedy.

Adrian affords himself a moment's reprieve to check his phone, catching up with Serena Malcolm's messages, perhaps hoping for an escape option. But there was none provided. He'd have to go about it the old fashioned way and let Gavin run his mouth, or come up with a convenient enough excuse to leave. That was of course assuming Gavin's business wasn't primarily with him.

Then things might be more complicated.

It didn't bruise his ego any that the gorgeous and stacked redhead managed to succeed where he failed. Luck could have been on her side or perhaps she had a more deft touch than he himself had.

He was just about to leave the Odd Job Workers stall until he saw Razz Kingsman come up and manage to move the magikarp to the other side of the pool with his net with ease. "Oh, come on."

Refusing to be one-upped and waking his natural competitive drive he took another turn at the Moving Magikarp game getting another net and trying his luck. "Let's run that back, I can't walk away with only one attempt." His net didn't look any different than the last one he'd had or the one Razz used.

To the naked eye the nets were all the same, his only option in testing was to try to use it now.

gil wasn't really much of a religious person but visiting a shrine seemed like it might be somewhat fun. he'd managed to rustle up some borrowed clothing from a shop that wanted to rent out clothes for people who wanted to dress up for the event. it was strange to move in the clothes but he wasn't really going to knock it. it was comfortable though for the most part. at least he could have a good time, especially since things like that were just an occasional thing. still he wondered if he could manage to make his own if he could get his hand on a pattern. though it wasn't the most important thing he needed to be worried about.

what he was really worried about was the fact that ghost pokemon were all over the place. he wasn't scared per say but... he really was if he was being honest. they sent shivers down his spine especially when they jumped out at him. though a lot of them seemed more concerned with other things there were plenty of them that liked to give a scare to the shrine goers instead and he hated it.

Melody finished her set, breathing heavily. She looked out to her crowd and waved to all the people who cheered her on "Thank you guys so much! Have fun tonight! And remember to visit local man tao's fried fish cutlet stall for 20 percent off for two fish cutlets!" she said as she thanked the crowd for listening to her. She passed off the set to the person coming after her and went back stage. She let out a bit sigh and was finally excited to change out of her clothes into something more comfortable, she put on a white yukata with small hints of pink on it. She was glad she got some time after the show to enjoy the festival, she'd rather keep performing but she wasn't famous enough to hog the stage to herself. Besides, how would she find other people to Collab with if she couldn't see what they're capable of? [break][break]

Melody walked around enjoying the sights and sounds before she happened upon an interesting stall. It was the stall that Razz Kingsman was at, melody watched for a few moments and then walked over to the shall "I'll try it too please." as she handed over the PD for it to the man who ran the stall. Melody then hesitated at first and looked at how Razz did it, she gritted her teeth and then tried her luck as well as she panicked at the last moment.

"Hard not to find entertainment in a place like this." He gestures vaguely to their surroundings. His amber gaze cuts across the crowd, spotting the familiar figures of his Rocket allies among them. Had Adrian Malcolm made the connection between the mysterious organization offering him their aid and the recent reintroduction of Rocket to the public?

His approach had not been out of friendliness, but reminder. We're watching.

The League, too, are ever-present: an officer marches past, ignorant of the criminal that offers a courteous flash of teeth.

As Adrian checks his phone in a desperate bid to ignore his oppressive company, Gavin glances around. Hm? What's that over there? A crowd has begun to gather around a stand reading 'Odd Job Workers'. He notes the pool of Magikarp, and a gleam enters his gaze as he sights a flash of gold among the swarms of orange.

"Care to try your luck?" He smirks at Adrian, then steps up to the line. "Excuse me, I'd like one of those nets."

It feels weak and flimsy in his hands, but looks were hopefully deceiving; the sleeve of his festival garment grazes the water as Gavin dips the net carefully into the pool.

NOAH HAD RESPONDED to Adrian Malcolm's earlier text. he'd be in the area, albeit not for fun. still, he welcomes adrian to come see him should he be able to catch him.

dressed in his official league uniform (although tailored to his gym's aesthetic), noah patrols the lantern lit streets with his machamp. the warm lights dip their heads and shoulders in gold. around them, the essence of the festival dances alongside floating drifloon; however, noah can't enjoy the merriment for too long.

for awhile, he deals with littering kids. garbage duty, basically. he hopes that is the peak of wrongdoing tonight. taking a break by a campfire cultivated by combusken, noah finds the time to text back.

a cold breath fades from his lips. his machamp raises all four hands to the flames to warm itself up.

"Look," the word is emphasized with a gesticulating arm as the two of them start to make their way to the game stalls (with Sky nearly dragging him behind her), "those axes were clearly rigged. Weighted. It was pretty much impossible to hit the target." Nevermind that a couple of people had done it. Coincidence.

kyle lopez 's discomfort goes right over Skyler's head, though she does let go of his arm when they reach the stalls, silver eyes peering eagerly at the available festival games. Unfortunately there's nothing even remotely close to axe throwing, so they'd have to make do with something else. His question does prompt a small bark of laughter out of her, even as she takes a rebellious sip directly from the bottle, letting the alcohol warm her throat. "Probably not. I'll still beat you, boss."

The Magikarp stall catches her attention not only because kyle lopez pointed it out, but also because there's a familiar figure manning it. "Noelani Kekoa ? Did you give up on underwater exploration to work in festivals?" The greeting is cheerful, heartfelt, though her focus soon drifts to the Magikarp themselves. An elbow not-so-gently nudges her soon-to-be opponent. "Whoever loses has to buy the other some festival snacks. Ready?"

The sea captain doesn't wait for Kyle, however - she's reaching out with her net before he knows it, enthusiastically hunting for that one perfect Magikarp, the rush of competition curling her lips into a wild smile. It isn't until after the competition is done with that Captain Dross feels the back of her neck prickle with the weight of a foreign gaze.

And it isn't until she raises her moonlit eyes towards the crowd that she catches the motion of familiar features - turning away. Sending a jolt of adrenaline down her spine.

Lu.

The curve of her lips sharpens with some unknown emotion, and it doesn't take the nearby Lampent to highlight the challenging tilt of her chin.

Of course he's on duty... He'd chalked it off preemptively, them getting together, since he was bound to get into some mild mischief.

"Hold on, I've got to answer this." He's able to break away from the magikarp stall and find some modicum of privacy, being careful not to let others (particularly Cillian Quinn) peer at its contents.

'no, just here with some bozo stalker fanboy or w/e. slow start so far. sux 4 u tho!!'

It's mostly said in jest, offered up as a mock sob story to earn some pity points from a friend, and maybe to rouse some slight dereliction of duty in the on-duty Gym Leader...
