SLATEPORT BEACH becomes livelier as the days become hotter. The scent of sunscreen and summer fruits is carried on bright sea breezes. A swarm of Toucannon rest on the beach, their beaks brilliant in color. Several Toucannon begin to fire SEEDS from their color-changing beaks. Some seeds fly dangerously close to beachgoers. Those who play badminton and other racket sports find themselves volleying the seeds back— alongside pokeballs, should they test their luck.[break][break]

the highest roll will earn a shiny toucannon; the second highest roll will earn a regular toucannon, and the lowest roll will net a shiny pikipek. the gender of the pokemon can be decided by the recipient.

If...the moment they stopped pelting him with seeds that is.

Logan had simply been relaxing on a beach deck chair underneath a large parasol. His shirt was draped on the chair behind him, he had Mudkip enjoying a nap on his lap, Dragonite was enjoying himself in the air with the Pokemon of other beach-going trainers, only for the peace to be interrupted by a flock of literal angry birds. Startled, Logan let out a yelp "Haikyuucannon?! Er--Toucannon." he corrected himself, clearing his throat, a little embarrassed by his abrupt outburst. He returned Mudkip to his Pokeball, however Dragonite flew down to shield his trainer from the Toucannons' attacks. "Guess we'll have to earn a nice day at the beach, huh, Havok?" to which his towering dragon replied with a focused, rumbling growl as it glared at the flock, ready to engage.

Hideo hoped that a nice day at the beach would help him forget the awful taste of that cereal he had for breakfast; he could handle Corn Flakes and Bananas on their own, but together, they just somehow destroyed his appetite.

Unfortunately, it sounded like a swarm of Pokemon had decided to ruin the otherwise-perfect beach weather. Hideo could hear them fire seeds everywhere, a few hitting dangerously close to him, and plenty of people were complaining about the rude Toucannons.

Good thing he had at least one spare Pokeball with him at all times. And his Ariados was there with him, equally irritated by the interruption. “Mind grabbing one for me, Squeeze?” Hideo asked.

Squeeze happily chittered, shooting a String Shot at the nearest Toucannon to drag it close.

Racket in hand, Remiel fended off the seeds cast by a nearby Toucannon as Earl Grey took cover beneath a bench. The butler Sinistea had attempted to ferry over a bowl of refreshing fruit for his master, and now it lay scattered on the ground below. He hadn't known that Toucannon were about.

Finding the bird to be far more of a challenge than his current badminton partner, the ambassador trades score with it for a while longer, keeping its attention well enough away from the spoiled fruit. Until, suddenly, it dares to make its move.

When it tries to swoop down and nab a slice of cantaloupe, Remiel casts a luxury ball in the air before aiming his next shot at the bird and striking down.

Bad deeds did not go unpunished on the court.

It was BEACH TIME. Which meant being fucking miserable, but at least Chu-e would get to show off his cute new beach outfit to everyone. Stretching out, he almost got hit by one of those seeds.... which caused him to huff and have the need to retaliate.

A pokeball was plucked from his hip and joined the shower of other pokeballs that was flying for the pokemon.

There is never a moment where Eris doesn't think of her childhood companion, teasing him ever so slightly as she playfully boops his nose. Okay so toucannons weren't the combee's knees or anything, but damn could they make a mess when they wanted. All that Sam could think was that there was a festival he was missing.

Admittedly, the toucannon mascot on his favorite cereal growing up had always been his favorite. He'd even had a shirt for a while that said he was a cereal killer. Because that's all he'd eat in the mornings.

Now he ate oatmeal more and drank too many cups of coffee before noon.

Though none of this information was terribly important other than to say that it was this nostalgia that caused Sam to try and capture one of the toucannons while trying to help and control the chaos caused by the birds.

Jess had been trying to lay low and avoid Slateport Beach, where most of the region's activity seemed to be concentrated at the moment. But there was no avoiding the full-scale Volleyball warfare that had erupted near one of the more densely forested sections of the coast. She wasn't so sure why Toucannon had decided to attack beachgoers-- maybe all the battling from the tournament had disturbed one of their nests.

More likely, they just wanted to have a little fun, she thought dryly, observing the big-beaked birds' clear delight as they engaged in the back-and-forth beach ball sport with any humans game for an athletic challenge. You wouldn't peg a big fruit-eater as mischievous, but all those seeds had to go somewhere.

It was nice to see people and Pokemon getting along. Too bad such activity would inevitably draw in trainers waiting to nab a Toucannon for their own. Concealed behind a small grove of palms, Jess put two fingers in her mouth to give her best Toucannon impression, trying to draw the big Pokemon back into the trees. "Squak."

She didn’t play, naturally. Well, maybe it only appeared to be second nature to here, not others. Her body was lightly athletic, certainly, but that was mostly cardio. She’d never been properly allowed to play volleyball or things like that, for fear of injury. The only sports mother had wanted her to do were those good for the body, solo matters where no opponent or teammate could hit her face with a stray ball or something.

But she did like to watch sometimes. It was less that she was envious of the racketeers – after all, if she truly wanted to join then and there, nothing or no one would really stop her. But after not doing these things for all her life, she also did not feel a particular drive in that moment. Instead, she just watched – both the players and the pokemon, who were kind of joining the games, ironically. Her own hand only itched here and there, but mostly towards the pokeballs. Just in case an opportunity arose to catch one of those.

Cardamom hummed to himself as he stepped out of the hotel his family was staying at for now. With their stand set up, they didn't have as much time to prepare breakfast for the family, so he'd simply grabbed one of the tiny boxes of cereal from the buffet. Shin tumbled along behind him, a similar box held in his claws and being slowly ripped open. Cardamom yawned and stretched slightly, only to find his cereal box suddenly snatched from his hand. Looking up, he saw it being carried off by a swarm of Toucannon and Pikipeks.[break][break]
"Whoa hey, that won't do!" he yelled, hurrying after them. "Come on Shin, let's go get our breakfast back!" The Teddiursa still had his cereal, but he was always itching for a fight. A devious smile spreading over his face, he hurried after his trainer, spilling cereal behind them.[break][break]

aaron and his pikachu are enjoying froot loops® straight out of the box — not a drop of milk in sight — when the toucannon swarm begins harassing beachgoers. seeds whizz past him as he watches other people get the worst of this bird harassment. it's only when pokeballs start getting thrown around that he realizes that, oh yeah, he can catch one of these and seem helpful by doing so. shoving one last fistful of colorful cereal in his mouth, he gets up and tosses a pokeball at one of the seed-spitting toucannons.

she was going to try. the Swarm of Toucannon was tempting indeed. Eden strolls toward where the mass of people already were, hoping to get somewhat lucky. this was her first attempt at capturing one of them, and even capturing a swarm Pokemon. would it fail? would it be passible? time would tell all.

she threw out her Altaria and ordered an attack. whatever it was; didn't matter. she targeted just one Pokemon and hoped for the best! flying types were graceful and beautiful - the Toucannon were no exception to this! she wanted to capture one, but would hold her head up high if it failed.

Normally, Alexei here was a fan of eating Trix cereal straight out of the box, no milk in sight (what a heathen) but the rumors of a swarm of Sam’s… well, ‘flock mates’ would be the best way to address this had caught his attention.

Even if they were all swarming at the beach, he bit his displeasure down and made his way down to where the tournament was taking place.

While yes, he had not yet appeared as a participant due to what had happened to him quite recently, he decided to take this as an opportunity to stretch his legs.

Figuratively, of course.

It was still a bitch to walk with a crutch considering the wound in his right leg hadn’t fully healed yet, and putting pressure on it was a bad idea.

The loud squawking made him quirk his lips into the shadow of a smile, before attempting to find a place he could lean on for a while in order to grab an empty Pokéball and chuck it towards the loud, squawking crowd of Toucannon that had turned up.

Surely Sam would appreciate the company…

Josh had heard of a mighty “Toucan Sam” Pokemon that roamed the beaches, and he had to see for himself. Of course, this name had been given to the Pokemon by his kids and Josh was not as familiar with Alola Pokemon as he could be. But if the veteran Trainer could catch one of these “Toucan Sams” then at the least, his kids would have a good laugh out of it.

Of course, he did not expect to find literal angry toucans roaming around. That was definitely going to be an issue.
