Bryan's curry entry

thread summary: This thread is one that takes place after Bryan had taken someone's life for the first time to save Eris Halla and he reels with the emotional turmoil of having killed someone for the first time. Eris quickly begins to chip away at a nerve that's been building for the past year on Bryan and he decides to commit himself to deep diving into the evil side of rocket. The part of him that takes what he wants with no remorse. He taunts Eris cruelly and uses sleep powder on both her and Reiner to have them sleeping and forget what happen via asking chu-e to do his specialty of mental manipulations with psychic types.

why is it important?: Eris is the straw that broke the camel's back and shot bryan's mental psyche in the head. She takes a jab at his ego that makes the conversation quickly go south as he tells her she's just a trophy to THEO BECKETT 's conquest and confirms her worst fears. This thread also contributed to the plot of Eris Halla running away and causing the "black" thread where rocket attacks MATIAS SILPH to take back eris and try and save Chu-e Choi . This thread also now showcases the new Bryan behaving extremely cruel to whoever takes a jab at his ego.

Mars' curry entry

Thread summary:
Not long after the disastrous events of Package for POG, Mars takes Eris Halla on a field trip to a farm so she can enjoy the sort of carefree and happy moments that are rare when being part of a criminal organization like Team Rocket.

While there, he is constantly reminded of his own childhood and how similar Eris’ circumstances are to it, and even if they may not be all that close at this point, he finds himself wishing Eris didn’t have to be a part of Team Rocket and could have the normal upbringing of any other kid her age. In many ways, he now feels responsible for her.

This sentiment is emphasized when they discuss the strange charm in Eris’ possession, since while it doesn’t activate when Mars looks at it this time and while they still can’t remember what happened back at the bank’s corporate HQ, he begins to put the pieces together regarding what they charm could be and what it may be doing to her.


Why is it important?:
In the personal sense, this thread is relevant to Mars as a character because it causes him to reflect on his own childhood and how wrong the things his family did to him were. It explores the deep-seated resentment he has for them and why this exists, and shows that he himself wants to act differently.

It’s a pivotal point in his relationship with Eris, because as they grow closer he realises that he sees much of himself in her and wants to do what he can so certain aspects of her childhood remain normal despite being part of Team Rocket. He wants Eris to be a kid like any other, and this sentiment leads to threads like Gift Hunters where they make holiday memories together.

When it comes to the Lake Trio plotline, this thread is of importance even if the charm didn’t activate at the time, because the fact that Mars saw it and the discussion he had with Eris regarding it will come up when meeting other charm-holders like Hideo Kino (Big Bountiful Berries) and maverick noah ryder (Deep Dive). Eventually, all these encounters lead him to notice the connection that may exist between the charms and the Lake Trio, even if it’s all speculation because his memories about those matters remain locked.

thread summary: Cora and avery avila spend time together putting makeup on for rocket disguise purposes and flirting[break]
why is it important?: Cora is the kind of girl who uses people so long as they're of use and of interest to her, and while she's still pretty early on in her character growth, she feels slightly differently towards Avery. She feels like she actually cares and, even more unusually, oddly protective of her.

thread summary:

the monday after STAR SOIREE, FERNANDO SILPH and illeana reyes have a brief exchange at silph co.

why is it important?:

this is one of the last threads that focuses on fernando during his WISH TAG arc.

for context, he’s always held himself on certain principles. it’s addressed in some of the posts but his adherence has been consistent since hoenn’s inception. it’s only recently that he’s broken these rules and coming to terms with the consequences.

personally, i love the narrative that comes with a character that’s so kept together start to come undone. the self analysis and self-loathing is fun and can push a character back into what they were but altered based on their new perception.

the last post took the longest and shows in its length. it’s all self reflection but writing it came out easy.

fernando comes to terms with how off-character he’s regressed and he’s so disgusted by it that he’s willing to compromise an entirely different principle to return to his ‘comfort zone’.

since i don’t think any of his other threads will focus or develop him until after AAPT2 is over, this was my communal pick. PYRE, EVERYTHING IS BLUE, and CORROSION were very close seconds.

the fact that his thread partner, illeana, is going through her own transition makes a neat little parallel.

thread summary: To save Eris' life, bryan delarosa has taken the life of another and the realisation shakes him to the core.

why is it important?: This thread serves as the beginning of a fracture. Eris, who has always naively said that Rocket is her family, is now forced to accept the reality of her situation - Her life doesn't hold much importance here, she isn't really considered one of them, she's not able to be as cruel or cold-hearted as them and most importantly, she's scared of what they are.

This thread ties into her plots with several other characters: MATIAS SILPH where he has been telling her that Rocket has simply been using her, John Sullivan who has been trying to understand her reasons for staying with Rocket and Razz Kingsman who is a Rocket defector himself. It also puts her identity and choices into question, also further driving her struggle of deciding just how far she might go down this path - A plot that will continue to be explored in upcoming threads!

FOUNDRY

Kano's curry entry

thread summary: Martín del Mar and Kano Iyona meet up as Kano is looking for steel-type pokemon for Exodus. A discussion between scientists and businessmen regarding the value of the experiment ensues.

why is it important?: Kano never hold any favorable impression toward a businessman as to her, businessman is the same people who restrict the freedom of her experiment and people who weighted her with the debts. However, after having a civil discussion with the CEO of POG himself - She starts to value the man and give him a sliver of respect toward him. Perhaps, she might go to him for funding in the future.

thread summary: Martín del Mar and CIAN MAHER explore dreams, nightmares, and the aftermath.

why is it important?: it explores an important part of mars' life, his history, and the nightmares he has to live with — all of which are things cian has never really understood. after experiencing them, it further solidifies how cian only truly cares for himself, which leads to the JUST LIKE YOU thread and also to the end of their relationship.

thread summary: the bitter conclusion of a plot months in the making. in it, Eris Halla cements herself with rocket, MATIAS SILPH gives up on her, and Chu-e Choi dies.

why is it important?: it serves as an end to matias' and eris' friendship which they've explored through various threads listed here, and also further complicates their dynamic going forward. matias had hoped to save eris, to pull her out of rocket, but those were, selfishly, his own desires, not hers. it possibly sets up matias as an antagonist to rocket's underbosses and beasts, and it also further feeds into his hate for rocket as well as sootopolis.

why is it important?: theo continues to stray away from the rigid and strict teachings of kanto rocket, realizing life has more to offer than loyalty and violence.

it also sets up potential plot hooks for the future: ultra space travel, internal rocket strife, and possibly a change in loyalty? only time will tell.

why is it important?: danny's time in rocket, up until that point, has been relatively okay and harmless. this is really his first exposure to the nitty-gritty, to the violence in rocket, and what more of it awaits him in the future. it's also training and growth for young danny.
