TIME TO CLEAN HOUSE

OXFORD LEATHER HOBBLES every time the butt of a cane has to steady against depressing steps. no short of John Sullivan’s intervention, fernando silph is repaired well enough to clear an early discharge. he returns to office, no longer reliant on crutches. in it’s place is a black cane that serves as the backup for his still shaky foundation.

“tch.”

his non-dominant arm remains in a mesh sling. the sleeve of his formal wear peeks out from underneath, visibly clear of his previous cast. a black headband is the least prominent of his recovery wear, a seemingly normal accessory if not for the sunken gap that seeps into the crevice of a missing eye.

a long trawl brings him to his seat. he remains standing for now, leaning onto the headrest rather than his cane. he makes no move to pull out the chair and take a seat.

it’s still early and he’s the first to arrive.

Are you ready to be a BIG SHOT?

"Hi." He said to no one in particular as he wandered into Melody's hall, fifth to arrive. "Where's everyone?"

FERNANDO SILPH was there, MATIAS SILPH was there, Katherine Fairburne was there, Raziel Beckett was there. Everyone else wasn't. Pulling out a pocket watch, he rolled his eyes. Yup, meeting time.

Taking a seat by Fernando (just in case the man's heart decided to give up on Hoenn), he reclined on his seat, pulled out his PokeNav, and began sifting through his mail.

6 years ago, he would've been ecstatic to walk through the halls of the Elite 4.

'12 year old me was a sucker. This office ain't even good.' Too noisy; who the hell kept a bloody waterfall in the background of a working space, Melody Miro?

THERE IS NOTHING SILPH DETESTS more than another silph.

an inferior product built under the same brand. given the same recognition while lacking the very craftmanship that warrants such reputation. it is a blight on their legacy.

it is the reason fernando sees matias, and the rest of his siblings, as nothing more than a stain on his family tree.

but it is his feud with Melody Miro that pushes him to act on it. had he half the reservation to act like a silph–a true silph–matias would find his rise to power met with practiced indifference.

“perhaps,” fernando answers plainly. “a shame you couldn’t have picked up on more important habits as well.”



katherine breaks the slow crawl of an inevitable insult. her interference, deliberate or not, puts a brake on their conversation. they are no longer alone.

so he nods his head. addresses her with the same token of respect granted to all league hopefuls. to those he believes can make a difference.

the good ones, as most would say.

the competent ones, his mind rightfully corrects a moment after.

“fairburne.”

another joins them and, in one way or another, the room is saturated with silphs. knock off and derivatives alike. how fitting that melody’s chamber paints them in a veil of ocean blue. a striking color.

“kingsman.”



it takes a more casual outtake to break up the silph monopoly. when doug poses his question, fernando merely smiles. there’s enough to defuse the situation further.

“they should be here soon,” is his immediate answer. a “morning” follows shortly after, timed to inclusively apply to the good doctor as well.



when the doors open once more, fernando looks at their newest additions with a muted smile. “third anderson’s a charm,” he comments quietly. to those that know little of his interactions with lars, most would assume it to be a remark of hope and approval.

to those who know better, only one of which is already at the table, the message is clear.

He arrives, neither late nor early, moreso just in time. While it was out of typical fashion for Kim to arrive in such a blasé way, he could not be so inclined as to keep up inconvenient mannerisms for the sake of keeping appearances, it was unimportant for these people, for this meeting.

As he walks, Teddiursa clinging to his side as he cupped it in his arm, Kim looks around, eyeing the people present before taking a seat nearby John Sullivan and FERNANDO SILPH .

Quietly, he fiddles with the Teddiursa’s paws, attention turning up to Fernando as he speaks with a half-cocked smile.

“Nice to see you up and walking, Ferny. Glad you still have your vigor even after “the incident”. ”

There's a little bit too much enunciation put into the “see” as it's spoken, seeming to hint at a slight prod from the former councilman.
