with help from willow atkins , elijah gardner and a few others, jayden's personal project was going well. still, there was still a lot that they did not know about crystablooms, even if paxton concordas 's report on crystabloom hearts had been able to shed some light on the topic.

[break][break] it was why field work like this was so imperative.

[break][break] botonists, gardeners and civilians both have gathered together to work on the city's collection of crystablooms in one such studio in verdenturf. his serperior snakes along the linoleum floor before rearing himself up on a stool next to his trainer. as jayden tends to the small potted plant, the pokemon's body lights up with GROWTH before pouring the green beam down atop the budding petals.

Legends spoke of how a single Florges could tend a garden for hundreds of years, resulting in gardens so fabled for their beauty they seemed to exist outside of time itself. Here, among the countless crystablooms aglow with infinity energy, Gloria tended to these unique flowers with the same care that generations of Florges had before her.

For this reason, Elisabeth had chosen that Pokemon to test the crystablooms' reaction to her FLOWER VEIL.

Ever since her studies with Lulu Flint, Elisabeth had been focused on the specimens she had gathered on behalf of the Rocket laboratories, although she did not limit herself to that faction's work for her studies. Aligning herself with the botanists doing the same in Verdanturf as a well-known member of the florist community was not a difficult endeavor; her civilian reputation preceded her, and her expertise in gardening was more than welcome.

A pen in hand, she sketched out the reaction of the crystalline flora to the way the shimmering veil fell over the blossoms, which glimmered a bewitching misty blue in answer.

when she did come across one, her curious mewing would turn to concern. a ledyba, whether through curiosity or just plain hunger, feeds on one of the nearby plant's leaves. ellie vocally berates the creature before ushering forth a FLOWER SHIELD that completely separates the two.

Small. Clueless. And a little out of its depth. This young grass type resigns itself to following Greyson Connors's Comfey around the countless rows of neatly planted Crystalblooms, quietly observant as it shyly peeks behind plant pots.

It looked like the other pokemon knew what it was doing!

As the Comfey succeeds in its mission to guard one of the many precious saplings, Cherubi dutifully watches and casts a FLOWER SHIELD of its own around a perfectly safe bloom.

Paxton is by no means an expert on botany, and most of his experience with crystalblooms are documenting their propagation and burning them. But he's very good at note taking, and listening. So he follows around as Arber takes care of the strange blooms. [break][break]

They don't seem to be popping up as often, and he wondered if they were still resilient as ever. when he meets jayden cross 's gaze, ever briefly there's a poignant stare in the rocket's direction. That's about as much acknowledgement he gets before Paxton is back to watching Arber hum and check over bloom after bloom, her FLOWER VEIL pulsing a soft energy every few minutes.

it's not a shame MATIAS SILPH and his tropius arrived before them because it means kyle will have to get his tropius to just copy the other tropius in the room.[break][break]

in any case, kyle's own tropius arrives to help with its GROWTH. it doesn't offer its fruit to the other responders because it doesn't want to steal the spotlight from the other tropius! he was told he would've humiliated the other tropius because he was superior in every way, after all.[break][break]

anyways, it helps the crystalbloom all bloom with the sheer grass-type power it has. the tropius feels like it has more connection with them unlike the fake grass-types in the pokejob.[break][break]

Luka Chene is no scientist. In fact, the Florges that accompanies her today is far more qualified to study the crystalblooms than she'll ever be.[break][break]
The fairy type studies them intently, her Flower Veil blanketing the pot of flowers in she and Luka's care. With a deft touch she repots a few, curious to their reaction to different soils, different qualities of life...very scientific stuff.[break][break]
Luka hums in an imitation of someone studious and scribbles a few notes down. The margins of her notebook are full of scrawling doodles: hearts and stars and vague approximations of the flowers before her. Vaguely she wonders if a meaning has been assigned to them yet— who says flower language can't evolve just like human tongue?[break][break]
But what might they stand for? A mysterious beauty? A portent of doom? A crystalbloom bouquet that signifies, 'You're the light of my life' or something of that sort.[break][break]
Maybe she should ask Elisabeth Fiorelli later. For now, her Florges breaks her out of a daydream for help getting another pot of flowers, and Luka happily plays along as her assistant for the day.
