Summer had caught wind of the "Snowboy Showdown" happening in Fortree. Typically, such trivialities didn't interest her. Her father would call it childish, pathetic, a waste of time.

However, with his demise, she was able to take back her livelihood and participate in the contest. She never had an opportunity to do something like this in her childhood, after all, so the chance to try it at least one time in her life was an exciting idea.

Bundled in a warm coat and scarf wrapped snugly around her neck, Summer approached the playing field on Route 119. There was a multitude of individuals she recognized, even were friendly with. Martín del Mar, BARNABY FINCH, even Zev Harcourt. The last one was a surprise to her.

She greeted them with a smile and wave as she made for an unoccupied spot, near a blond-headed man. Summer began to roll the snow up and pack it together in a ball when she heard him groan. Chuckling, she spoke.

"Don't tell me you're not having fun right now, in the ice and snow, rolling balls around to stack on top of each other? That groan certainly sounds like you aren't," she said with a smirk.

And so the bourgeois elite found victory yet again. As if there was ever any doubt?

The elation of success was short-lived, however, as Martín del Mar apparently insisted on infighting within their ranks. Barnaby shot a pointed look, eyebrows raised, toward his usually-wonderful-and-accommodating partner.

"No?" Barnaby repeated, his tone steeped in incredulity. "Fine. I'll remember that when I'm shopping for your holiday gifts."

He said all this with steely solemnity, but inevitably as soon as Mars sidled over with those honeyed words of his Barnaby's resistance broke down. With an amused sigh, he turned his cheek to accept the proffered kiss.

"Always the cheesy romantic, Martín." A sentiment stated with a roll of his cobalt eyes, but there was genuine affection in the way he matched Mars' own beaming smile.

And then came the promise of marshmellows.

Isaac Merlo's TOTODILE streaked over to them like a comet across the sky, exuberantly excited at just the mere mention of hot chocolate. Ashley Shepard's FUECOCO, too, seemed delighted at the idea. Feeling the damp that was beginning to set in even through his coat, Barnaby was also ready to take a break from all the snow. Luckily, his own snowboy was now complete despite the chaos of the battle, so perhaps now was the perfect time to sneak away to the shopping stalls.

"Hmm, if your wish is to always win with me by your side, mine is to go check out the booths over there. I want to see what cute holiday trinkets they have!" A gloved hand found Mars' own, pulling him away from their snowy field of battle. "Let's go!"
