“Yeah, yeah.” The sheriff says to the champion, filing the paperwork away. “I accept. Let’s get out of here before we go over paperwork and W-9. That shit’s boring anyway.”[break][break]
Only after he says that does the full gravity of the situation hit him. He’s here, in a room filled to the brim with Hoenn’s strongest trainers. Moments before, they were discussing policy. Now, they’re adrift in some strange cavern. Something is odd.[break][break]
His eyes fall upon Kyle once again. For a moment, he remembers the man he once was – a slacker in Slateport PD. Urging Thin Lizzy on, he fights off thoughts about what this region does to people.[break][break]
“Happy to be here, Ma’am.” He says to the commissioner. “Pleasure to meet you, by the way.” He knows almost everyone else in this room. Funny how that works.[break][break]
Soon, a roar and the sound of rumbling footsteps tell him that it’s time to get back to business. Something’s coming. Something big. His eyes go first to the book in the center of the room. It looks important – important enough to be guarded by a truly terrifying monster.[break][break]
“Lopez.” The sheriff sinks into his seat atop Thin Lizzy. “Watch the commissioner. I'm going for that book.” There are better people for what he has in mind. Eva Morales or freya morningstar with their powerful dragons, MATIAS SILPH with the power of the earth at his beck and call, Callan Young with the greatest battle mind in Hoenn knocking around his noggin…[break][break]
That’s exactly why an idiot like him has to do this. They're needed elsewhere.[break][break]
“Come on, girl. Let’s ride.” Gripping the clutch, Navy rushes straight for the prehistoric dragon that seeks to charge them all. Thin Lizzy’s already switched up into high gear. The monster sweeps its tail at them…[break][break]
…and Navy pulls on the clutch. Hard. Lizzy senses his intention. She goes near all the way to the side. They’re going so fast that any lesser rider would lose control. They’d both go flying. Kyle wouldn’t vouch for him were he any lesser rider. Maintaining perfect balance, Lizzy and Navy skid across the floor, putting distance between the dragon and themselves. Her wheels make the sickening sound of tires skidding to a halt at breakneck speed.[break][break]
The book’s close by. Reaching out his hand, the sheriff tries to swipe it for the team.

are they being marched to their death, she wonders? crystals sprout at matias and dahlia's suggestion. apprehension makes her skin prickle. John Sullivan shares her suspicions. the dratini in her arms is returned to her ball as freya regrettably untangles herself from Eva Morales .

the cry comes again. a hand strays to the pokeball at her choker, but she hesitates. the distorted growl faintly reminds her of...

the creature emerges with a territorial display of violence. freya's pale gaze sweeps over the creature and her hand goes instead to her hip, where kirimu's ball rests. behind its hissing form is a book and freya opens her mouth to say something, but Navy  already reacts.

she swears. stealing a dragon's hoard, within its own domain, is a recipe for disaster. 

kirimu emerges in a flash of white light, seafoam green scales, and brilliant carmine feathers. Greyson Connors 's decidueye takes the brunt of the breaking swipe while kirimu tanks the spray of boiling water to the chest. freya is spared the spreading lash of its tails because of her positioning.

the moon roars and its cadence is returned in kind. 

'well, suicune cannot learn this move. it's just a hunch, but some paradox pokemon do get stronger with them.'

"whatever it is, it's a dragon," freya says. "if this is its den, we'll need to fight our way out. kiri." a snarling draconic command of her own follows the roaring moon's name. heat ripples from its maw in response; a supernova wave of blue and white comets crackle and race over the field of nature's madness left in tapu lele's wake.

[attr="class","illeana i"]dahlia goode's nod is met with a small, reassuring smile. with everyone mostly in one piece, they're able to focus more on their surroundings than righting themselves.

she makes a pokemon swap, then, with a small thank you uttered to her golurk. the automaton is replaced with the small, pink body of mew. it coos, already gravitating toward the sparkling crystals. she reaches out a warm hand and guides mew back toward her, the way a mother would a straying child.

and as Greyson Connors joins their group, she blinks. the cry echoes once more and finally, the culprit shows itself.

it looks, well, odd... she can't quite put her finger on it, but something about it feels familiar in a digital sort of sense (otome route).

beyond it, her eyes focus on the bright red book in the center of the room. curiosity sparks quickly, blazing into a wildfire.

"Greyson Connors!"

her head whips around first to find him, though her body darts in an awkward sort of way to avoid the attacks from the walking wake.

"watch my back, please?"

without any further hint, she drifts away from the group with mew in tow. the pink cat coos softly at her and her head turns to flash a warm smile.

"psychic that book, okay? if you can get it at least to Navy then that's fine, but be careful."

the pink mythical floats a bit further ahead of illeana and purple energy begins to envelop it as mew tries to psychic lift the book to illeana or to navy.
