“AGAIN.”

dagger-like ICE SHARDS fire in rapid succession as the GLALIE looks to chip away at the pokemon’s health. against overwhelming numbers, this beast has no chance, but that doesn’t take away its potency for danger. their objective is not only to subdue it but to abstain from any injuries. a game where they are both attacker and defender.

“there,” fernando mumbles as he aims his throw.

a single ULTRA BALL slips between the attacks. it takes him a moment—an adjustment to his current ‘condition’—but he finds the path most likely to land. it gets close, an almost perfect throw, before the beast swings its tendrils around to deflect the ball back.

it lands, breaking against the many TERA CRYSTALS.

“tch.”

the pokemon dissipates into fragments of light, leaving them with nothing aside from a strange tome. one he leaves to the others to congregate around as he takes the vanguard toward the end of the tunnel.

“those who are uninjured, take the front,” is his way of echoing ’s caution while making a call for action.

his SYNC STONE pulses with his heightened alertness.

“we move.”

At the save from the flames from before Razz seems very grateful to his patron for the save, the young man getting up to take a moment to take in the rest of what's going on. A comment from not going unnoticed, and with Razz heavily proficient with a catch and release system the Rangers primarily focused on and he would attempt to capture it within one of his 'Friend Balls' as an attempt to prevent the others trying to kill the paradox pokemon. Though even with his experience with pokemon he doesn't think he could stop its attempt to keep on going as it seemed to slice the pokeball in half. Reshiram only would have struck to kill with Blue Flare had it attempt to go for Razz. [break][break]

He just sighs as the creature fought until the end, though unlike he doesn't explode on the others. The lot of them have all been enough kill of be killed moments for him to not understand the situation. Seems like had a great idea on reversing the damage to the book and makes a mental note to possibly ask to copy such a move for the future, "Could I possibly get a copy of that book Lopez?" he figures he should ask as the champion records it, feeling its information could be useful for another time in the future.[break][break]

"Thank you for your help but I think going smaller might help," Razz tells Reshiram who gives him a look of hesitancy, but in the end chooses to trust the human. Agreeing to go into the temporary pokeball for now as Razz brings out his Greninja and helps take lead being both quick and uninjured and willing to bring up a MAT BLOCK if needed from anything up ahead.[break][break]

There were many mysteries still left between the ruinous beast and its champion; mysteries most would find redundant considering the bond that fused them together. Sometimes, inklings would find themselves slipping through the slit of her door, offering a puzzle piece to add to the growing collection. And sometimes, that puzzle piece would be just the one she needed - a new way to understand the enigmatic. But rarely were there moments of revelation. Of complete and utter comprehension to the cogs that ticked.

This moment, shared between friends and enemies alike, marked the first instance. The first leap forward.

Chi-yu's hunger wasn't satiated. Not yet. And Penelope could feel that deep within the marrow of her own bones.

THOUGH AND MAY LAMENT the attacks on the feral WALKING WAKE, it is clear that subduing the frenzied beast would be an arduous, potentially fatal task.[break][break]

The more time taken to incapacitate the theropod, the more risk of injury... or even death rises for both trainer and Pokemon. After all, this Paradoxical creature demonstrates incredible strength and endurance. Even when cornered to the end of its life, the creature seems to only value maximizing harm over self-preservation.[break][break]



Eventually, hunger compels 's CHI-YU to act for the finisher. The jade beads glow an annihilating white, heated to an impossible degree. RUINATION descends upon the writhing dragon and tears it apart.[break][break]

The spiked tails stop their thrashing. They fall onto the cold cavern floor like unraveled barbed wire.[break][break]

examines the corpse of the WALKING WAKE:

The resemblance to a SUICUNE is not coincidental. Rather, it looks like a primal descendant, or a Suicune forced to undergo rapid adaptation in an alternate environment. The creature's small arms and bulkier hind legs suggest that most of its weight is supported by its lower body and the balance is further assisted by its unique horns. The make of its feet suggest that it can walk on water.[break][break]

Its insides are exposed by the RUINATION too. A curious organ exists therein: one that seems to be responsible for heating the water it attacks with.


Before more can be done, the corpse suddenly shatters into a glimmering light. One that is not unlike the light witnessed during TERASTALLIZATION. No physical remains are left in the afterglow. Curiously, the surviving book cover given to glows at the same time before dulling once again.[break][break]

"we can compile everything into a secure file before sending it through secure channels. i'm unsure of what to make of this book," Dahlia's Dragonite glares at the book, skeptical of its harmlessness. "but the glimmer it just exhibited reminds me of what we were able to secure from route 120. a glowing petal. perhaps, we can study it in conjunction with what we've discovered today?"[break][break]



Though the book may be destroyed, the idea of the WALKING WAKE now exists with an unparalleled verisimilitude. It is no longer a fabricated creature in some dicey dating simulator game. It is now a real memory that can be reimagined time and time again.[break][break]

And for this reason, the possession of this book may be dangerous. Who knows what else has manifested from its pages? Should it continue to exist within close proximity of these crystals, what else would be conjured? Perhaps the better question is, how did this book come to exist?


LEAVING THE CAVE


LEAVING THE CHAMBER leads the AQUA Initiative to another narrow passage of cave. However, the deeper they go, the more they can feel and hear an eerie resonance. An energy crackles in the air, raising the hairs on their arms. A familiar magenta glow graces their faces as they enter another chamber.[break][break]



There, a DYNAMAX POWER SPOT awaits. Underneath THE POKEMON LEAGUE, deep underneath EVER GRANDE CITY, the power explored in the memory of Galar exists. There is no doubt that the book and the surrounding tera crystals have played a part in its macabre creation.[break][break]

Eventually, League security is able to break through to 's ELITE FOUR CHAMBER. The crystal growth has halted, allowing , and other Officers to recover the AQUA Initiative.[break][break]

The following weeks are spent repairing THE POKEMON LEAGUE's building. Information in regards to the DYNAMAX POWER SPOT'S EXISTENCE has been made confidential lest TEAM ROCKET be able to use it to their own advantage. Nevertheless, in due time, it will certainly be revealed.

He could only look over at at this point once the Pokémon had been taken care of; he had an idea of what she was thinking about—a wasted opportunity to learn about the strange Pokémon that they’d encountered, snuffed out.

(He shared the doctor’s dismay, too. In his defense he hadn’t gone to the alternate Galar as most of the people in the room had, so there was that.)

Hell, he even saw try to catch it in an attempt to at least take it alive so that it could be studied! But alas, his attempt didn’t work either.

“Ugh, why did it have to be through a narrow cave…” he groaned quietly, pinching the bridge of his nose as they continued seemingly deeper into the cave—but the familiar pink glow keeps pulling at him.

He’s seen this exactly once before, back at the Desert Ruins…

Was it possible that it could still be there? So much time had passed since then, though…

The best he could do for now, was to give a knowing look, before his gaze momentarily shifted over to ; but the other man was busy so he would leave it at that, at least until they finally made their way back out of the underground and back to civilization.

Though he wondered, how long could the existence of this be kept a secret?

• Lars.exe does not like going through narrow underground passageways (thanks claustrophobia), so he bites his fear down until they’re eventually rescued and brought out of there

Evacuating those still alive, whether unscathed or injured, had been Gunner's top priority since the sudden emergence of Tera crystals in 's Elite Four building.[break][break]

Ambulances arrived to deliver the injured to the hospital. Working with the local police, Gunner set up a perimeter around the building, cording off the area with yellow tape.[break][break]

In the middle of discussing the rescue with , the small hairs on his body suddenly stood on end. Whirling around, Gunner looked northwest toward Sootopolis City.[break][break]

He couldn't see anything from where he stood, but he couldn't deny the feeling in his gut that something had gone terribly wrong.[break][break]

Another agent caught Gunner's attention, informing him that the crew was ready to break into the earth beneath the building. He nodded, refocusing. Rescue first, weird feelings later.[break][break]

Eventually, they broken into a complex system of underground tunnels, Tera crystals covering the walls. The entire AQUA Initiative was gathered there, not a single member missing. Even was with them.[break][break]

Gunner went straight to , stopping in front of her. He almost reached out a hand, but refrained. They were in public.[break][break]

"Are you okay, Miss Livy?" he asked, trying to ascertain her mood or thoughts from her expression alone. "Any injuries?"

Throughout the ordeal of AQUA, Paxton and had been busy taking care of the rest of the personnel that happened to be at the Pokemon League. Coordinating together with the security forces, they managed to quickly evacuate and clear people before another earthquake rumbled through and trapped more civilians. [break][break]

There's a moment when Gunner looks to Sootopolis, and Paxton can feel the same eerieness coming form the island city. But before he can focus on it, he has to attend to the people panicking aorund them. [break][break]

When their forces manage to break through the tera crystals blocking over the E4 chamber, him and Gunner move to assist. "We've got medical staff for Commissioner and any other AQUA member that requires it." he said as he directs the medics in. Then he goes directly to as well, checking in on her with . He glances over at Head Ranger who's always never too far behind from his boss. He nods at him, the offer for aid extended silently. [break][break]

His next concern if Proffesor , looking for the scientist. Though her healing abilities were good she tended to have a bit of a reckless streak. "Proff. Reyes, any bruises, cuts, cracked ribs?" his concern morphing into a small joke.

she hums in thought and turns to with a comment already on the tip of her tongue.

"it seems to be primordial in nature, but not in the way we understand primal energy. it's different, as if it was reverted to a previous evolutionary state?"

curious, really. she moves to the organs exposed by ruination, just barely touching upon a heating organ before its body disappears. a soft noise of surprise escapes the scientist and she steps back, relinquishing any further investigating. the nagging sensation of missing something never quite leaves, though - instead, it persists down to the bones.

her attention shifts back toward and the mention of a curious petal. she doesn't need to steal a glance of to know her science sister's interest is likely heightened as well.

"a petal?"

faintly, a smile rises.

"mind if we conduct some testing on it? I'm curious about its origins..."

insatiably so, actually, but she lingers in a state of waiting regardless.

the cavern glows purple the further they move and as those left behind back in the elite four chamber arrive, she can't quite tear her eyes away from the power spot. it beckons, whispering promises of discovery... and she finds it hard to simply move away from it.

, however, cuts through her thoughts with a well-timed question. her head turns and the smile widens.

"all good here - no broken ribs this time, thankfully!"

she steps closer to , a mental note made to return to this cavern for the power spot once the meeting has concluded. by then, she'll have the proper equipment to gather energy signature readings to aid in the hunt for more. until then, it is futile to linger like a ghost.
