DRAGON STORM

El Sunderland 's REUNION WITH Isaac Merlo is sweet but is cut short as one of the smaller dragons dives at them with a glinting DRAGON CLAW. When it looks like the raking claws are about to knock them to the ground, their IRON VALIANT turns itself into a living missile. Stray drops of venom from its POISON JAB vaporize as fist and claw collide with a loud thud. The uppercut knocks the flame-tailed Pokémon into the magma below, rocking the Ranger and Rocket from the explosion's shockwave. The shaking ground renders the IRON VALIANT unable to stick the landing.[break][break]

Vanilla Kingsley 's KADABRA RAISES REFLECT just in time to blunt a FLARE BLITZ from another of the smaller CHARIZARD. It keeps her and those around her safe from the reckless, wanton charges of the vicious Pokémon. The ramming attack's extreme power put incredible stress on its mind. While it kept those around the psychic-type safe, the FLARE BLITZ shattered the part of the shield closest to her. The KADABRA suffers a massive blow, but remains standing by a miracle of the gods. Even the slightest graze of an attack will fell the spoon-wielder now. Vanilla's weakened body expels blood and phlegm from her mouth, dizziness about to set in when much-needed relief from the heat comes.[break][break]

emmett brookes ' GOREBYSS and kyle lopez 's BAXCALIBUR drop some much needed precipitation upon the crater with their RAIN DANCE and SNOWSCAPE. Though it suppresses the effects of heat stroke, it comes with a critical drawback: it severely hampers visibility. While welcome, it is still hot; the rain turns the crater from an oven to a sauna. It is still hot enough for the Emergent's dragon to absorb the thermals from below, ENHANCING ITS ATTACK STRENGTH.[break][break]



The light of MEGA EVOLUTION blinds those not ready for it as the BATTLE BOND between Michael Navidson and his GRENINJA peaks. Fancying itself a cowboy, the water-type acrobat leaps onto the giant dragon's back, hurling WATER SHURIKEN at the behemoth's vulnerable neck and back. It responds by flailing and writhing wildly. Before it can buck the amphibian off, the Dewford Leader's partner leaps toward one of the smaller CHARIZARD and repeats the process, its second victim lacking the raw strength. The cuts from the whirling blades of water render it unable to fly, its foe's unconscious body breaking the GRENINJA's fall.[break][break]

With Hyakkaryōran Tsubaki about to collapse from heat stroke agitated by her poisoning, her FLUTTER MANE comes to the rescue, bravely sharing her trainer's pain in a PAIN SPLIT that leaves the ghost-type squinting. The DRAGON ENERGY pouring out of the Chalice enhances the DRAGON CLAW. While the fairy-type is still able to largely shrug off the blow, it is NOT COMPLETELY HARMLESS.[break][break]



Empowered by the welcome weather, Jack Napier 's AZUMARILL looses a high-pressure HYDRO PUMP toward another wing of the low-flying horde. With nowhere to dodge, thanks to CIAN MAHER 's KECLEON's expertly-placed STEALTH ROCKS, the column of water strikes true, causing it to tumble over the crater's far edge and presumably roll down the cliff. The HYPER BEAM from DEREK HOFFMAN 's AGGRON tears holes in the last remaining smaller CHARIZARD's wings, leaving it unable to control its flight. It plummets into the bubbling maw below. The exertion, combined with the heat baking it from the inside out, renders the steel-type lethargic, UNABLE TO ACT FOR A BRIEF TIME.[break][break]

All that remains is the orange giant, its hulking frame the height of a flagpole. Yuina Higashi 's RHYDON sticks its horn into a loose piece of sharp rock, then whirs it, turning the makeshift blade into a deadly, whirling weapon that rends a jagged hole in the large Pokémon's flesh. The electric lasers from Isaac Merlo 's IRON THORNS focus-fire into this new wound, the impact of the Z-MOVE: HYPER MASER ARRAY causing boiling blood to spray around those close by.[break][break]

ROUND 4 - VOLCANIC MONARCH

DRAGON ENERGY surges from the Chalice, dense enough to drown out the volcanic wisps' red color to a royal purple. With the League's task force beginning to turn the tide, the giant Charizard's red eyes open wide. It leaps out of the magma and takes to the air, giving the eleven locked in battle with a majestic view of its scale. It could easily carry all those fighting against it on its back at the same time.[break][break]

The wounded dragon takes a swipe at the Chalice's outer rim with its brutal claw. An oppressive wave of DRAGON ENERGY knocks Vanilla Kingsley , El Sunderland , and kyle lopez to the ground, with emmett brookes barely able to stand their ground (SALAC DIFFERENCE). The CHARIZARD soars to the Chalice's broken rim and basks in the shattered crystal's energy, causing it to FULLY HEAL. A TERASTAL CROWN begins to materialize on the giant's head, its transformation into a DRAGON-TYPE imminent.[break][break]

Invigorated by the purple wisps, the emperor of the volcanic island lets out an earsplitting roar. It takes a swipe at DEREK HOFFMAN , the former Gym Leader barely able to duck out of the way of the DRAGON CLAW that came at him with speed far greater than any attack it had discharged before. Colossal fragments of the Chalice rain down upon the crater's main platform, a crystalline ROCK SLIDE hurtling toward each Pokémon and trainer on the formation's near side. Those toward the far side of the platform would have a far bigger problem to contend with: a growing INFERNO blanketing the sky above them and dropping onto them.[break][break]
