Why she thought getting up close and personal with this Charizard was the right play, Isaac would never know. But at least she wasn't hurt by the bombardment she was in the crossfire of.[break][break]

It was night and day to the earnestness with which he faced the Charizard's greed, their platform devolving into a raging inferno of draconic energy. The heat suddenly paled in comparison to the pure power radiating from the shattered remains of the chalice. Anyone in the way of such an attack, even those normally well equipped to handle it, would surely be obliterated.[break][break]

Right now, that included .[break][break]

"Damnit, kid!" Isaac tried to intervene, but it was to no avail. Akane hunkered down, arms spread to stop Isaac from doing anything stupid. He tried to get around her, but between her broad shoulders, her tail hooked around his back, and her watchful eye, Isaac didn't stand a ghost of a chance. "We can't just let her get hurt, Akane! Move! Please!"[break][break]

Finally, Akane obliged, but not by letting Isaac go. Instead, tucking him protectively under one shoulder and angling her other shoulder to face the Tera Blast, she charged forward as quickly as she could. Alone, he'd be injured just as easily as Vanilla would be. Together, they might stand a ghost of a chance.[break][break]

Even as Akane slid in front of the girl, the force of the attack erupted around them. The space to her sides, and even behind her, quickly flooded with ripples of draconic energy. The hell was this attack made of? Would Vanilla be injured, or would she be flat-out obliterated? Isaac refused to let that happen. He slipped out from Akane's arm, pressing against the Iron Thorns' back to avoid the worst of the blast. Once he was settled, he reached a hand out for Vanilla, the azure energy bringing out the worry etched across his features.[break][break]

"Take my hand," he pleaded. "I'm not letting you get hurt."[break][break]

Maybe his plan would work. Maybe he would be too late. Isaac wouldn't know until the dust settled. What he did know was that Akane's metallic body was shuddering, part from strain and part from pure, unyielding rage. Her Quark Drive was still running wild, as was the draconic soul beneath the crystal she bore.[break][break]

The Charizard's heat would soon have competition. A raging Blizzard tore out from her body as she roared a challenge, threatening to reduce the terastalized beast to absolute zero. At least now the mountaintop wouldn't be so damn cold.[break][break]

In furious retaliation, Akane unleashes her Blizzard.

As the Charizard is sent descending from his attack, Baron pulls his spear free of the dragon - and jumps off of it, to return to the safety of solid land. He flicks any blood from his spear, that hisses where it lands at the stones closer to the edge of the bubbling magma.

El can't help a wince at the sight; it isn't as though they wanted to have this fight go as violently as it was. But these dragons clearly weren't here to talk over some tea - and for some pokemon, combat was the language that they spoke most fluently. Even for as much as their heart twists in sympathy, for those getting hurt and those who have been hurt in the process of all of the fighting.

And the hurting wasn't done quite yet. Because in a final ditch effort, the massive Charizard lets loose a blast of pure draconic energy - concetrated and powerful enough to even give Baron pause.

Though El is able to take cover behind Akane with , they can't help but look to the others who are unprotected - who don't have anything to hide behind or counter, like or .

And as if picking up on these worries, Baron steps forward - taking up a defensive position before Vanilla. Staring down the Charizard, he reaches out not physically - but psychically - to grasp the dragon in the spell of a Destiny Bond, as he braces himself.

- Iron Valiant attempts to cover for (won't stop the vibechecking, but the effort is there,) uses Destiny Bond on the Charizard
- gonna figure out wtf im doing for an injury later since the fun option isn't actually a valid option

TERASTAL TERROR





AS THE TERA BLAST FOAMS FROM THE DRAGON'S MOUTH, the task force desperately aims a barrage of Fairy-type and Ice-type attacks at it. Raising the RUBY SALAMENCE STATUETTE high, the nearly paralyzed points it toward her FLUTTER MANE. It dissolves in her hand, expelling a beam of anger and heat and empowering a MYSTICAL FIRE that PIERCES through the mighty foe's draconic resistance.[break][break]

's SACRED ASH RAIKOU AND SUICUNE vanish, his connection with the Great One suppressed from the whir of his suit's SYNC STONE. The ICE ZONE created from the bond with his SMEARGLE prevents the others from suffocating in the burning hellscape. The SYGNA Pokémon's MIST BALL clears visibility enough for the Emergent to see the danger is in.[break][break]

WITH A DEAFENING BELLOW, the giant dragon's head unnaturally recoils, a cracking noise barely audible over the low roar of the white, purple, and blue ball of dragonfire. The enormous attack is the size of the rock formation they stand on. Even for those who survive the attack, such a strong blow would surely compromise the volcanic spire's structural integrity. 's FROAKIE, with extreme speed and reaction time, leaps out of the way of the TERA BLAST and douses the dragon's burning tail with HYDRO PUMP.[break][break]



AS THE CHARIZARD's TERA BLAST looms in the sky like a city-leveling bomb, 's FERALIGATR TERASTALLIZES and fires back with a TERA BLAST of its own. As powerful as it is, the CHARIZARD's is mightier, absorbing the attack and using it to fuel its own. The explosive force launches the two high above the crater, their vision nothing but burning blues, whites, and purples.[break][break]

steps in front of his GARDEVOIR as the TERA BLAST roars toward him. Adamantly protecting the fairy-type, he takes the brunt of the attack, also experiencing severe dragonscorch. While he evades critical injury, all he can feel is the holy wrath of dragonfire "cleansing" him. It may be the most pain he has ever experienced in his life. Even his Gardevoir is not spared from the rage-fueled attack's piercing nature.[break][break]

RAISES THE MOLTRES FEATHER skyward. With a yellow, orange, and red glow, it dissolves away, creating an updraft that causes and her FERALIGATR to SLOWLY FALL TO THE GROUND. While they are still wounded, their injuries are not life-threatening.[break][break]

catches sight of her SYLVEON's Poké Ball bouncing into the crater. In desperation, she dives toward the pink Pokémon, turning her away from the oncoming TERA BLAST. Its huge explosion strikes her true, the dragonfire so pure and so hot that all she can see around her is burning blues, whites, and purples as her and her partner's bodies cook. recklessly desperate to save them, his IRON THORNS restrains him, keeping him from making a rash and possibly lethal decision. His Paradox Pokémon shields him from the brunt of the TERA BLAST, leaving him with only minor burns. Within the SNOWSTORM, the BLIZZARD freezes the dragon's mouth shut.[break][break]

's IRON VALIANT covers for alongside , mentally wrangling and wrapping the giant in a DESTINY BOND. It, too, is caught in the TERA BLAST, its mighty, resistance-piercing dragonfire razing even the Fairy-type. recalls their Umbreon for a tiny PURRLOIN, NIGHT SLASHING several of the superheated crystal shards to pieces and preventing and her SYLVEON from taking a lethal lava bath. It comes with a price, though; a large, sharp crystal pins the dark-type to the ground, leaving them and to absorb the TERA BLAST's full force.[break][break]

MICHAEL NAVIDSON recalls his badly bruised GRENINJA. Whether metaphorical or real, he takes his TERASTAL GARCHOMP's reins and charges straight into the TERA BLAST with no fear. His OUTRAGE causes the dragon to sharply recoil backward and roar in pain. The reckless move lands a critical hit, but at nearly catastrophic cost: the expense of severe dragonscorch all over the GARCHOMP's scales. Even a glancing blow will cause it to faint now. The Gym Leader himself is likewise much worse for wear, the sting of dragonfire making it difficult for him to move with the precision he once had.[break][break]

ROUND 6 - EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY!





THE VIGOR OF THE TERA BLAST, combined with the ferocity of the GARCHOMP's OUTRAGE and the curse of DESTINY BOND, causes the CHARIZARD to tumble into the magma below. The storm of dragons surrounding the island flies away, scattering across the four winds. The impact of the former Chalice's TERA SHARDS, along with the splash of molten rock, makes the terrain at the crater rather unstable. The rain of crystallized magma is so dense, the number of TERA SHARDS that could be made from it is staggering. The collapsing crater and shaking ground make gathering said shards perhaps too great a risk.[break][break]

THOSE WHO LOOK OVER THE CRATER'S RIM notice it is not just the crater that is collapsing; it is the entire island! Though the treasure trove of TERA SHARDS is tantalizing, Those who value their lives would be quick to flee before they become buried in the fading Cicatrice's ruins-to-be!

“And you know what that makes you, Lopez?” The sheriff asks as he lands, his sygna suit burned black. Once more, his clothes and Vortigern’s scales are practically the same color. Stumbling off the dragon, man and dragon lumber in oddly synchronized motions.[break][break]
“A damn dirty wiz-” The thought goes unfinished. Navy turns, falling and landing on his back. Under him, the ground starts to rumble. Pulling out an ultra ball, he points it at Vortigern. His own injuries limit the black dragon’s protest.[break][break]
Out comes Ironsides, who looks down at the state Navy is in and sighs. Surveying the rest of the gathered party, his eyes linger first on , then on , and settle on . The iron bird sighs, scooting down, picking Navy up, and depositing him on its back. His short, terse screech says ‘hold on’.[break][break]
And so Navy listens, but not without protest. Clinging to the bird, he waves down at those who were injured in the battle.[break][break]
“Gotta help ‘em out, Ironsides.” Skarmory doesn’t listen, instead ferrying him out of the cave and into the open sky. There, he’s treated to a wonderful view of whatever happens next.

[attr="class","star2tsu"]Fire burns with the intensity of Tsubaki's spirited encouragement. Empowered by a hex, the primordial ghost beneath her shapes her cursed fire to suit the woman's needs. A dragon-shape, to fight a dragon. It rounds on the gigantic Charizard and fights back, but it's too little, too late.[break][break]

Tsubaki slumps over, all the heat and the poison taking its toll. Even the cool body of a ghost, chilling to the touch, cannot provide relief it seems. She watches the chaos overhead as attacks collide with one another, as if from a distance, like a firework show. She sees the body of Vortigern from below, with Navy atop him.[break][break]

And then, little else.[break][break]

The fae spirit beneath her equalizes their pain once more, but battered and damaged, there is not much relief to be had. She has just enough strength to carry her away from the flames and the lava, rising to the skies above as the mountain begins to collapse in on itself. [break][break]

For all the fire, the arid, dry heat, she must care for her master. Her grave does not belong here, in a place so far from the deep.[break][break]

only after did he launch his last attack did kyle see the actual extent of the fight's aftermath. he blinks, but isn't completely surprised. trying to optimize action economy, kyle takes it upon himself to do first aid.

it only takes one smile at the smeargle for the pokemon to get what his trainer meant. it bows its head with disappointment, but knows the sync it has with his trainer's infinity energy fueled sygna suit allows it to understand.

a swish of its tail and a step in its gait, the pokemon performs a lunar dance that drains its energy in lieu of invigorating everyone.

the smeargle drops on the ground, exhausted to a point of fatigue, and its unsuitable condition to fight is enough to deactivate the suit. as soon as his powers are back, magic happens.

in a limited area around him, kyle can choose pokemon and allies to REGENERATE HEALTH OVER TIME in the midst of battle and gain the effects of NATURAL CURE upon switching out.


the two beasts immediately make their appearance right back. raikou races from kyle's side to take while suicune takes , offering to give them a ride until they can either send out their own ride pokemon or focus on recovering. should they decline, they simply turn back to dust.

kyle can choose to make the sacred ash manifest as raikou and suicune. they will act as separate, additional entities in threads/events before fading away after a period of time.


"good shit, guys! we'll take care of first aid, uh, away from here!" he can always abuse his champion authority to emphasize urgency for the responders, but he's keeping it in his back pocket for now.

kyle's emerging hero complex has progressed into an ability to UPLIFT THE SPIRITS of willing people around him.


entei makes an appearance late. it leers at kyle as he responds with a disgusted expression. their banter ends with nothing but a stare down. they had no time to be playful with each other when things needed to be done.

it quickly scoops up kyle, bringing him and his healing aura to where was. "good effort," he tells her before turning to both and nearby, both of which helped her.

"so, which one of you guys need help in evacuation?"

Where Yuina might have thought that her time was limited, being thrust into the air by heat and explosion, she could feel her skin burning, her breathing was choked and suffocated, and she had no control over where she was going being thrust into the air. She feared the worst in that moment, that could have very well been it, she felt like she was going to burn alive and then fall to her death and Crowley was going to suffer with her as the croc roared and flailed in the air... but then a brilliant glowing energy surrounded her and Crowley, slowing their descent to the ground, and while she could still barely see and breathe as the heat was truly unbearable, she coughed at being let down onto the ground with a thud, instead of a devastating crash.[break]
There was little else that Yuina could think to do in that moment except get away, the mountain was shuttering, crumbling, everything was falling apart. They needed to go, and many others started to vacate the mountain top that she could see through her haze and the tunnel vision she was getting. In what little energy she had left, Yuina returned Crowley to his Pokeball and released Kano, only barely able to slump onto his back and try to hang on. Her head was pounding, she couldn't catch a full breath, and she felt like she was going to pass out at any moment. The Arcanine started to follow suit with the rest of the trainers and Pokemon that were vacating the mountain top, hoping to escape before they were swallowed with the volcano itself.

That burn felt too painful to be even real (if that even made sense. Of course he wasn’t going to allow Emm to get roasted alive, hell, he’d throw himself in front of any of his Pokémon as a shield if it so warranted!

Unfortunately, though, it was looking like things were going to get rather explosive in short order, and since he was so fucking tired (plus his Gardevoir was extremely exhausted at this point; one more move would end her) he regretfully called back his Gardevoir—only to replace with his Absol.

“What?” he blinked as the Dark-type looked around in alarm.

“I know, I know! But we have to get the fuck out of here! Let’s go!”

With a resigned sigh, the Absol allowed him to get on her back before bolting the hell out of there—but she couldn’t help but resist to peek into the future a little using her Future Sight; was there a chance that they could return to what would remain of this island in the future?

Whatever becomes of his Machamp before it falls to the ground goes unnoticed, favoring a piercing pain in his left leg.

The pain is fresh in the mind, bringing with it some adrenaline that helps one to avoid collapse (unconsciousness). Though Derek can't exactly move right now either. The Suicune coming to his side was the best bet in avoiding a fiery peril, so he takes it while recovering his fallen pokemon.

It would eventually bring him closer to the group (kyle?), with the question of who needed help coming up. It wouldn't be him.

Whatever (healing) aid was provided gave the ranger enough spring in his step to dismount, leaning against the Suicune until a Skarmory was brought out to get him the hell off the island.

The Tera Blast crashes down, fast and hard. As someone who's never faced the phenomenon proper, he's absolutely not prepared for what comes next. The crystals slash through fabric, cut through skin like ravenous hounds. At the very least, he's able to pull Aka out of battle with her pokeball, biting down on his tongue as he tries to weather through the storm.[break][break]

That, and you're actually used to dealing with horrifying disasters such as this. In any case, he isn't trying to prove himself a hero, or come out of this with his name on the headlines. He'd just been at the wrong place, wrong time, then gotten himself dragged into this hell solely out of obligation. Looking cool is for if he actually cared about his pride right now -[break][break]

Which luckily, he doesn't. Especially not when it's his life on the line. So he'll gratefully take that ride offered by Raikou, hanging on as he does his best to press down on the worst of the bleeding for now.

Baron expected for this attack to incapacitate him. He had never stepped up with the purpose of enduring - but with the purpose of protection, and to ensure the dragon's downfall. As the Tera Blast roars around him, he stands stalwart before , as the knight he is - arms raised to brace himself against the worst of the attack.

Sparks fly as the draconic energy clashes and sears against his metal form - and when a crystal shard gashes into the right side of his face, he finds half of his vision going dark. He does not need his diagnostics to know what happened - that the glass screen over his right eye shattered, and some of the wiring and electronics underneath had taken damage. But stabbing his spear into the ground to remain upright, he grips to it tight.

Any damage he takes is but a part of a calculated risk. If he hadn't done this, there was the possibility that the child behind him would've perished - and that is not what his charge would want. So he remains - even as his motors shriek in protest, even as his limbs begin to buckle. Even as the feed - his senses - begins to distort, filling with static and crackling.

Only when the Tera Blast has passed, does Baron finally collapse - everything going dark, and the Destiny Bond he placed upon the Charizard sending it to the earth, where the beast belonged.

El is quick to go to their pokemon's side - heart gripped with worry. Was he okay? They didn't know how a Paradox Pokemon like Baron worked, and this was the first time he was this badly hurt - electronics were equal parts less and more tricky to understand than the internal workings of a flesh-and-blood pokemon as it was, let alone one so alien as an Iron Valiant.

Yet - when moonlight from 's Smeargle using Lunar Dance shines down, and El watches as some of the wires within Baron's exposed eye socket seem to rearrange themselves in turn... They can't help but sigh with relief, taking this as a sign that Baron was still alive. And as Kyle comes near, Baron seems to continue to slowly knit back together - not completely, but enough to take the edge off the worst of his injuries.

Glancing to the Champion, El blinks a second. "I- I have my Togekiss - the two of us can help get out of here..." They soon respond - already preparing to switch Baron out for Akero. Gaze drifting over to though, they ask "Will you be okay, Isaac? I can see if Bibidi has enough energy to Teleport you - and anyone else who needs help." They don't think she's keen on being out for any extended period of time - but a quick Teleport with a couple folks should be easy for her, even with her own injuries.
TLDR / NOTES :
- Iron Valiant needs the glass over his right eye to be replaced, the hair-helmet bit is gashed next to his eye, metal is tarnished/discolored. (Could be a good excuse to shiny-fy him later on, but still cooking on whether I wanna do that.)
- El plans to escape with Togekiss + bring with to evacuate. Also offers to have Alakazam really quick Teleport anyone w/o transportation to safety.

[attr="class","textbox"]Isaac had been lucky. Between being fresh from the fight, being covered in Tera crystals, and being a real tough customer, Akane had been able to hold strong. It wasn't easy. Most, if not all, of the Tera Crystals had been blasted off of her body, leaving sparking cracks running across her surface. Her servos strained from the effort it took to stay on her feet, and the lights of her eyes flickered as if ready to give way at any moment.[break][break]

Yet they didn't. No matter the odds, Akane stood.[break][break]

Isaac, who had been pressed directly to her back, was near untouched. Even when the worst of the Tera Blast wrapped around her, her steely frame stopped him from being more than licked by tongues of searing energy. Baron, who stood beside them, wasn't so lucky. Cracked, seared, and tarnished, it was clear that holding the line wasn't the skirmisher's favorite place to be. Nevertheless, for , any sacrifice was worth it.[break][break]

As ran to check on Baron, Isaac went to check on the poor girl. She didn't look good. She didn't look good at all. Isaac fumbled for the Pokeballs on his back, trying to find something, anything he could use to help. "Akane, get some rest," he said, calling the Iron Thorns back so he could bring out his Clawitzer. "Smith, do something, anything, please-"[break][break]

Even a Mega Launcher powered Heal Pulse, helpful as it may be, paled in comparison to the Champion. 's Smeragle sent a waving of healing ebbing across the group, persisting far longer than its Lunar Dance technique ever should. Something else was happening here, something greater, but Isaac didn't have time to unpack it.[break][break]

All he could do was hope his contributions would be enough.[break][break]

"I'm okay-" Isaac started, only for El's words to ring true. They'd brought Pokemon fit for travel. Isaac had a shrimp. Ugh. He hated relying on outside help, especially in a time like this, especially from the champion of the region his actions had been undermining. There was something almost embarrassing about it. ". . . But, if you're offering . . ."[break][break]

He turned to El, putting a hand on their shoulder. "I trust you on this one, El," he said, words he'd never expect to be sharing in a time like this months ago. "Take good care of her for me, okay? And make sure you and Baron get plenty of rest. Don't got a doubt in my mind you two deserve it."[break][break]

With that, he returned to Entei. It was time to blow this joint.

AS THE RELEASE OF TERASTAL ENERGY STARTS TO DISSOLVE THE ISLAND AWAY, the task force flees on the backs of their Pokémon, 's ASHEN RAIKOU AND SUICUNE ferrying those lacking the strength to do so on their own. To sate his curiosity, 's ABSOL's FUTURE SIGHT reveals that the volcanic MIRAGE ISLAND was supported by the tremendous TERASTAL ENERGY radiating from the Chalice. With the Chalice smashed to pieces, it is unlikely the island will phase back into Hoenn any time soon, if ever.[break][break]

SOME FIND IT MORE DIFFICULT TO RETREAT THAN OTHERS; a large piece of TERASTAL CRYSTAL became lodged in 's leg at some point during the battle, causing him excruciating pain. Removal of the crystal would assuredly be a delicate process, perhaps even impairing his ability to move on his own for quite some time. Likewise, ' skin has been ravaged with cuts in countless places. Even with the marvel of modern medicine, the wounds were so widespread that it would take the Ranger's body quite some time to heal. or her Pokémon looked like they had been badly hurt, as well, though the extent of their injuries would be difficult to determine until they got medical attention back to the mainland. 's IRON VALIANT perhaps suffered worst of all, the lens over his right eye cracking, causing him to only be able to see out of his left eye. It was a wound not even a Mega Launcher-powered HEAL PULSE from 's Pokémon could do much about.[break][break]

ULTIMATELY, THE TASK FORCE IS ABLE TO ESCAPE THE CRUMBLING ISLAND, whether by sea or sky. Those trapped on the ship celebrate, cheering for the brave heroes that had saved their lives. The mission turns from survival to tending the wounded, the ship's medical team getting to work treating 's and 's heat stroke, as well as 's burns. Thanks to 's HEALING AURA and his SMEARGLE's LUNAR DANCE, any short-term injuries are treated quickly and efficiently.[break][break]

As they check their supplies, and find that their RUBY SALAMENCE STATUETTES are somehow intact, though DEVOID OF POWER. Perhaps their power was tied to the island's TERASTAL CRYSTAL. To the right party, they could fetch a great deal of money. CRYSTAL SHARDS rain down upon the ship's deck, the crew gathering the largest of those TERA SHARDS to present to the heroes as a reward for saving the vessel. [break][break]

AS THE CRUISE SHIP SAILS BACK TO RUSTBORO to get medical attention for those who need it, the crew makes the task force as comfortable as possible, providing them with as much drinking water as they needed to hydrate and cool off after having been in such a hostile environment for the length of time they were. After being treated with the best and most effective care Rustboro Medical Center had to offer, those who suffered injuries are released and are free to go their separate ways, though they and their Pokémon will be dealing with the aftermath of their journey for quite some time to come.

All of you wrote wonderful posts; I was truly impressed with how much all of you ran with the scenario and made it exciting both for fellow participants, as well as for me to run the event. I hope everyone had a lot of fun with the scenario. I would like to give some special thanks to TSUKISTAR and for helping me craft this raid into the best it could be.[break][break]

If anyone has any feedback, positive or negative, on the format of the raid and any suggestions for improving it for future events, I would like to hear others' thoughts. If there is sufficient demand and space for another event like this around the fall of next year, I would like to run another event similar to this but with a different scenario.[break][break]
