As they fly higher, the immense body of a giant Charizard emerges from the chalice, shattering it and drinking of its power. It's imbued with a draconic energy that makes Tsubaki gasp, and the heat burns the back of her throat. But even so, she pursues it. [break][break]

That thing's their target, no matter the smaller Charizard that take the occasional swipe their way.[break][break]

She shouts out as loud as she can, voice hoarse.[break][break]

"Ya see that, Higa? It's been waiting for us this whole time, while we've been busting our asses to get to it! Don't you think we should give it what it's been askin' for?"[break][break]

The ghost beneath her responds with an impish smile, and the light of the moon begins to shine from the specter's jewel as bright as the energy the Charizard's enshrouded in. [break][break]

Rising with the heat, she flies toward the giant pokemon with boosted speed to slip through the gap and deliver a spell of fae energy imbued with the light of the moon at point-blank range, or as close as they can manage to get. Every other target doesn't matter.[break][break]

By a well timed swing of assistance, Vanilla felt a body behind her as she leaned into it somewhat, still rehabilitated by the extreme heat. Her eyes fluttered at El, her dazed state visible to the ranger that she had worked with. "I'm fine..." she lied through her teeth, face reddened and body hot to the touch. It was by now that she had realized that coming here without the proper safety was working against her now. Everything inside of her felt like it was being boiled, and she desperately wished for a freak snowstorm to cool them all down. Another cough came out from her throat, more phlegm filled and painful. Something wet was on her hand as she pulled away and saw a growing smidge colored red.

Navy drew near as she quickly shoved her hand away. No need to make him worry, he was already working through enough. Plus, if he caught wind of her current health, he'd never allow her out of a city again. Instead, he offered her his flask of water. Something that would help her dehydration some, but nothing much else. "Thanks, Navy." She undid the top and took a mouthful of room temperature water. The bitter, metallic taste of blood and whatever else was inside her throat greeted her. But her tongue lapped up as much water as it could manage before she pulled away. Just as she finished, the sight of the lava and fires of the peak were hidden as a misty fog would roll in from others attacks. It had cool down a little bit, although still steaming. Vanilla did appreciate it though.

Kinesis had somehow managed to take the full brunt of a Charizard's Flare Blitz, but was in rough state. He'd be on his last leg, but still in one piece. She couldn't lose any of her team here, but it would leave them defenseless. "Crap, what do I do?" Vanilla quickly went to grab his Pokeball before the shaking ground upset her balance. Still leaning on El Sunderland, her back landed on top of the ranger's as she looked up just in time to see the Dragon type fighting with DEREK HOFFMAN . "H-Hey, El. You okay?..." She asked, looking over towards them with a concerned eye. She pushed herself off of the ground and huffed to herself once back on her feet.

The perfect time to switch out. Vanilla recalled Kinesis with one hand and then threw out Ribbon with the other. The Sylveon popped out, ready to battle. "Let's go, Ribbon!" The Sylveon waggled its ribbons before then unleashing a ray of fairy type energy.

The Charizard is a menace, lashing out at them with such malice. And it's by some kind of miracle that he doesn't go tumbling from the attack it unleashes upon them, but his knees really won't thank him in the later years for being this stubborn. Out goes Kailani and in her place stands a rather grumpy Umbreon, mostly thrown off by the horrible weather conditions present on this cursed volcano.[break][break]

"Mahina, support us." It's a simple command that gets her going, soft traces of Moonlight washing over the field. And in the meantime, he'll look to Vanilla Kingsley and El Sunderland, offering them his hand to pull them back to their feet.[break][break]

"Hang in there. We'll beat this bugger and get out of this place soon enough."[break][break]

Baron staggers as he lands - sparks flying from brief skidding as he drops to a knee, and is forced to press his hands to the ground to avoid collapsing completely. But, the dragoon rises back to his feet after a moment as he regains his balance, LED gaze following the leader of the quickly-dwindling swarm. Electricity from Akane's Z-Move filled the air - and from it, the glow of Baron's LEDs and energy seemed to brighten as his Quark Drive overclocks in response to the surge of power.

El, meanwhile, was having troubles of their own. The earth shook as draconic energy surged outward - and as Vanilla Kingsley fell into them, they in turn would fall into Isaac Merlo 's arms! "Oof!"

As Vanilla checked in with them, they'd be a little winded - but unable to help a soft smile as they admitted "I-I'm alright... Though I'm - uhm - more worried about you," as they, too, carefully sway back onto their feet - accepting emmett brookes 's help. Poor Vanilla, though; looked to be cursed with poor health ever since the Kommo-o fight from what they could see, and it was becoming more apparent by the second.

The largest Charizard - who was now terastalized - was on a rampage, crystal shards and fire raining down. An empowered Baron strikes away one of the falling shards, before glancing back to El - who meets his gaze. Call and response - he reaches out to them mentally, and they understand, giving a nod. Akane was strong; but it was Baron's turn for a powerful attack of his own.

"Go for it; Twinkle Tackle!" El called - welcoming in that mental contact from Baron.

And in response, power surged around the Valiant. He darted forwards without restraint - hopping first up onto Akane's shoulder, before vaulting off of her to leap even higher! Wreathed in a sparkling pink, Baron twists in mid-air as he orients himself in relation to the Charizard - psychic energy and electricity alike propelling him...

... Before like a falling star, the dragoon descends upon the dragon - diving into the Charizard spear-first.

TLDR/NOTES:
- Vanilla Kingsley stumbles into El, who then stumbles into Isaac Merlo as a result.
- They accept help from emmett brookes , but is also concerned for Vanilla
- The Electric Terrain set by Akane triggers Baron's Quark Drive, empowering him.
- Baron uses Z-Move Twinkle Tackle - vaulting upwards off of Akane's shoulders, to dive into the Charizard like a falling star

Together, the two of them sent that Charizard packing with its tail between its legs. Unfortunately, just chasing it away wasn't enough. It was simply gathering strength for round two.[break][break]

Vanilla Kingsley fell into El Sunderland, sending the two of them stumbling right into him. Luckily, the chain ended there; while Isaac had not yet experienced the sudden, shocking gains he would in a few weeks' time, he was a lot sturdier than he looked. "Gotcha two!" he assured them, helping steady them back onto their feet. El, he trusted. They didn't need much more than a quick once over. But Vanilla?[break][break]

Arceus. The poor kid looked awful, and with the Inferno blazing across the sky it would only get worse for her. That fire-belching disco ball was going to have hell to pay for putting a child through such pain. For a second, Isaac's expression hardened, peeking over his shoulder to get a good look at the target of his ire.[break][break]

When he turned back to Vanilla, that sharpness was gone. In its place was a warmth in his eye and a softness in his smile. "Hey. You're a real brave kid, y'know that?" If she came all this way, he knew it wasn't to be coddled. The last thing she wanted was another member of this swarm of adults fussing over her. "We'll all be outta here soon. But first, how about we kick this thing's butt so it can't hurt anyone else?"[break][break]

There was nothing like having a big, important job to do to make a mess like this feel less scary.[break][break]

"Akane!" The Iron Thorns, who was currently smashing through rocks to the best of her ability, turned to meet her trainer's eye. "We're kicking things up a notch!" The Infinity Energy of her Z-Move had long dispersed. Now there was nothing to get in the way of a fresh infusion of Tera Energy. Shimmering azure crystal spread across her body, casting her post-modern form into something more ancient and jagged. Her thorns in particular were covered in branched growths of crystal, their red glow swirling beneath like a fire within.[break][break]

Tyranitar were already distant kin to dragons. What came next felt all too natural. One by one, the crystals along her back lit up, the blue glow of her Tera Dragon typing and the red glow of her Quark Drive intensifying in unison. By the time her back had become a laser light show, energy was spilling out from the back of her throat.[break][break]

Her Tera Blast, draconic might fueled by the atomic age, lanced through the sky, aimed right where the Charizard's flank looked most scarred.[break][break]

The frenzied sprint-and-roll to avoid a lethal DRAGON CLAW sweeping down towards Derek would bring him further from his team. Even the Aggron he fielded, who is soon forced to retreat by a pokeball in it's trainer's hand.

This substitution would bring forth his Machamp, which began drawing power from the mega-stones shared between them. "...Fucker took a swing at me and missed! Can you believe it, Randal?!" It's no pep talk for a fight against a giant dragon, but it rallies his pokemon to battle just the same. Maybe even the rest of those around, who might feel emboldened by the notion that fortune favored them in this fight.

The ranger rises to a stand, albeit lazily, with a stagger in his step.

"But you never miss... Right?"

A command at this point was a needless waste of words. Every battle that it had mega-evolved, there was only ever one thing to do. A sudden leap out towards it's foe would bring the Machamp close enough to deliver a blow with it's GMAX CHI STRIKE.

but there are few he would consider that would take that approach here. everyone doesn't want the grandeur of the final flourish, but the satisfaction of a job well done.

with visibility becoming an issue, kyle decides to trust in these people who would give it their all.

"concentrate on cooling us down," he orders his baxcalibur.

the pokemon can only be powered up with heat, and the more it absorbs, the greater its strength becomes. smoke starts to condense into mists around the baxcalibur as the volcano's heat sink while its thermal exchange takes place. heat turns into cold, and cold turns into frost.

snowscape was but one of its options, but as some of the heat is killed off, the cold can finally form into something more.

icicle spear starts to shoot out from the baxcalibur, landing as nodes of ice around the battlefield. solidified as they can be, they pierce through the ground and act as temporary coolants in this environment.

THE SHATTERING CHALICE fills the crater's already oppressive air with a toxic level of DRAGON ENERGY that turns conditions from oppressive to downright unbearable. It is only continued efforts from kyle lopez 's BAXCALIBUR that keeps the task force going, saving their lungs from being burned to a crisp from the otherwise suffocating heat. The steam conceals the locations of those who feel the need to hide, whether to lick their wounds underneath emmett brookes ' UMBREON's MOONLIGHT or to engage in ambush tactics. The dark-type maintains the healing beam for a long time, letting Hyakkaryōran Tsubaki 's FLUTTER MANE recover from the vicious blow it had suffered before. The stress of maintaining the beam of MOONLIGHT, combined with being directly engulfed in the cloud of INFERNO shortly afterward, leaves it covered with burns. They overcome the Eeveelution's strength, and it FAINTS with a whimper.[break][break]

THE UMBREON'S SACRIFICE would not be in vain; through the threat of dizziness from heat exhaustion, Jack Napier swaps Pokémon to his GARDEVOIR, who is quick to detonate a sphere of DAZZLING GLEAM in front of the TERASTALLIZED menace's crown. As it roars and raises its claws in front of its eyes, Hyakkaryōran Tsubaki 's FLUTTER MANE, empowered by PROTOSYNTHESIS, looses an opportunistic MOONBLAST toward the titanic foe.[break][break]

Navy 'S CANTEEN INVIGORATES Vanilla Kingsley , giving her a second wind. Still unsteady, she climbs behind El Sunderland 's shoulders, the added weight causing them both to fall toward Isaac Merlo . The short but strong Rocket able to stand his ground, all three coordinate attacks while the CHARIZARD is still reeling. Swapping her KADABRA for a SYLVEON, the MOONBLAST hurtles toward its target right behind the FLUTTER MANE's, badly bleaching the dragon's skin. The TERASTALLIZED IRON THORNS' TERA BLAST and an ICE BEAM from Navy 's GRENINJA knock their mighty foe aside, the monarch roaring in pain from thermal shock.[break][break]

NEAR THE TERASTALLIZED BEHEMOTH, CIAN MAHER 's KECLEON raises its tail toward the crystalline debris hurtling toward the task force. While it is able to shield Jack Napier 's GARDEVOIR from being impaled by shunting part of the deadly rain away with a well-placed PSYBEAM, it is not able to save itself from the rain of gemstone, it is yet another casualty of the brutal battle. It faceplants onto the black stone below, UNABLE TO BATTLE. [break][break]

Seeing their ranks thin, Yuina Higashi 's RHYDON's drill whirls and whirs, lowering its head in a DRAGON RUSH. The rock-type flings its hard, heavy tail into the ground repeatedly. It fails to knock the CHARIZARD off balance, leaving the rock-type wide-open to be snatched in its massive claws. Tilting its head toward its exposed palm, the horn bores through the foe's scales, causing Yuina's Pokémon to plummet toward the volcanic surface. Its natural armor cracks with a loud thud, likewise UNABLE TO BATTLE.[break][break]

EMPOWERED BY ELECTRIC TERRAIN, El Sunderland 's IRON VALIANT leaps sky-high from the shoulders of Isaac Merlo 's IRON THORNS. Soaring high as a dragon and into an ash cloud above the volcano, the fairy-type falls toward the massive, burning lizard seconds later. The Z-MOVE: TWINKLE TACKLE hurls their quarry toward DEREK HOFFMAN 's MACHAMP at meteoric speed, right into its GMAX CHI STRIKE. Its massive muscles convulse, the dragon prone on the ground.[break][break]

ROUND 5 - PULSE OF THE CHALICE

THE CHALICE'S DRAGON ENERGY reaches a fever pitch within the struggling CHARIZARD. In an act of desperation, it taps into the full power of the Chalice's TERASTAL CRYSTALS. A dense field of shards, sharp as glass, whirl around the transformed dragon. With a heroic effort, it claws its way to an upright position, only able to stand while drunk on the immense power it wields. The shards whirl faster and faster as the DRAGON ENERGY builds to unbearable levels, even the many FAIRY-TYPES experiencing discomfort due to the energy field's unprecedented density.[break][break]

A colossal TERA BLAST surrounds the dragon, surging outward to engulf the entire platform and shattering the CHALICE completely. Even those in the air are not safe, those attempting to dodge the blast by taking to the air having to evade crystalline spikes whistling all around them. Those knowledgeable of the intricacies of dragon Pokémon come to the conclusion that NOT EVEN FAIRY-TYPES will be fully safe from this menace's headlong, violent, and final onslaught.[break][break]

In this PENULTIMATE ROUND, any player who rolls 60 OR LOWER will have their character and/or their character's active Pokémon suffer a LONG-TERM INJURY of their player's choosing. The details of this injury are determined by each affected player, and the injury can be cured on the player's terms within reason.

However, stupid decisions made earlier in the trip cost him that, so now he was reduced to banking extremely heavily on Emm the Gardevoir, which was definitely taking its toll on the dual-type.

“Shit, I shoulda bought that goddamned accessory when I had the chance, huh?!” he exclaimed as he stepped in front of the Gardevoir; there was no way he was going to let her get the brunt of the blast of… whatever the shit fuck was coming.

“I know you’re sick and tired of dealing with these things, but please, one more time, Emm! Hopefully this is the last!”

As he valiantly pointed forward, she raised her arms, and for what felt like the umpteenth time, conjured up a burst of fae energy in the form of a Dazzling Gleam and sent it hurtling towards the drunken Charizard…

Though the ghost's fae energy is enough to resist the heat that flares off the beam, the tips of some of Tsubaki's hair are singed by the draconic fire and she turns back with indignation, shouting down to the bottom of the crater.[break][break]

"Hah! Ya missed, Merlo! Try again, harder this time!"[break][break]

Mocking sentiment aside, always eager to twist the knife deeper at a former Rocket, Tsubaki quickly realizes the folly of getting so close. While the heat of the battle is invigorating, while she wants to see the hateful glare in the eyes of her draconic foe, she's made a target of friendly fire just by getting so close. [break][break]

She grits her teeth as the Charizard smashes the Chalice, and shards filled with Terrastral Energy head her way.[break][break]

She plummets, feeling her stomach in her throat as she drops to a safe altitude before her Flutter Mane appears beneath her, suspending the woman in her shadowy body. [break][break]

"Don't... EVER do that again!"[break][break]

She trembles, grasping onto Higa. It's only the chill of her body that soothes her now. All the minor burns she's suffered from stray embers so close to the Charizard will haunt her for weeks, but she feels nothing.[break][break]

She's numb to everything but the thrill of battle.[break][break]

The sight of the mighty Charizard overhead, so enveloped by draconic energy she can barely make it out, makes her get a little more serious. She grips the gem hanging from her coat, feels the warm energy pouring from inside it.[break][break]

"Right... we're just about at that time, huh, Higa? Time to fight fire with fire..."[break][break]

She rips the Salamence Gem free of the rope, while the primordial ghost utters a wicked hex under her breath. The heat of the volcano itself seems to be swept away for just a moment, congealed into one mystical flame empowered by the gem in Tsubaki's hand. She raises the gem high, and with a shout, her Flutter Mane condenses all of her energy into a single attack.[break][break]

"Higa... NOW!!"[break][break]

It took Vanilla a bit to stand back up from being knocked down for a bit, though helped somewhat by

The massive Charizard is bombarded by every little attack that its new typing would be weak to, significantly damaging it in the process. Yet as the dust settled, it would throw out one last desperation move while utilizing the full power of the terra crystals surrounding it. A fine dust begins to be picked up in the air, as a dark blue is able to be seen coming off of the fire type. It's power radiating from it is massive, and this attack is going to hurt if it lands. Her SYLVEON, meanwhile, continued to attack the Charizard as it would launch another MOONBLAST at the enemy.

As the crystals started growing brighter and brighter, it became very evident that the worst was yet to come. She had to get Ribbon out of there before things became unsalvageable. "I can't lose you too, Ribbon. Let's get you back in your ball." Her hand reached for Sylveon's Pokeball, but only found a void where it normally was.

"Huh?!"

She looked down to confirm that the Pokeball wasn't there and cursed to herself. "Nonononono..." she said to herself, eyes looking all around the ground for the capsule. No shiny red balls within the nearby vicinity. It clicked in her head about what must have happened when she fell. "Damn it, I must have dropped it. But with much the ground's shaking, it could be anywhere!"

Panick erupted in her system as she whistled for Sylveon. "To me!" The Sylveon spun around and looked at her trainer in confusion before bounding over quickly. Unfortunately, the blast was much too near. The energy coming from the Charizard was far too great to ignore. Ribbon wasn't going to make it to her in time. Panicking, the girl did the only thing she could as the blast was coming. The Charizard unleashed its Tera Blast as the energy would close in behind the Sylveon.

Her feet moved before her mind could register. Vanilla was in no shape to take off into a dead sprint, but it's what had happened. Nothing else mattered in that moment. Just somebody desperate to not lose another member of the family in her life. In an instant, Vanilla dove towards Ribbon, embracing the Sylveon in her arms. As they fell to the ground, she turned to face away from the incoming TERA BLAST, shielding the Sylveon with her body as the blast encapsuled them both...

TL;DR:

The battle was reaching a fever pitch, Yuina had to return Rizer, the rhino just couldn't keep going with the devastating hit he took after landing back on the ground. She was running out of options, she was running out of faith that they would be able to stop this beast before it got to be too much, before the volcano might erupt and destroy them all. She clung to the yellow Pokemon that she rode still, there was little else that she could do, the heat was suffocating at this point, she felt like burns were starting to prickle all over her skin, she barely felt like she could see straight.[break]
With what little energy she could muster still, Yuina released Crowley again, hoping that the croc had had some time to rest, he was her only hope really to try and stand up against the raging dragon type they were facing. With the surrounding energies, and the burst of tera energy that shook the entire mountain top, while Yuina braced herself and crouched into the yellow Pokemon that she rode, Crowley roared as he undertook some of that power and Terastalized brimming with deep purple energy that shimmered and sparkled around him.[break][break]
He was now Dragon Tera and roared again as he released a Tera Blast out towards the monster, a last ditch effort in hopes that they could finally do enough to stop the raging storm!!

he recalls his baxcalibur soon after. satisfied with its performance, it takes the gift it has left in the field and snaps the sygna suit into activation, filling it with infinity energy and deactivating his avatar powers in the process.

a tap on the ground with his foot sets a zone of his choice around the area, boosting ice-type moves that his pokemon has left on the field. he just needs both the snowscape and the nodes of icicle spear to remain in the area, just to regulate the heat more.

TRAINER MOVE: TYPE WISH - ICE ZONE
applies a field effect called a zone that empowers the type of your choice for a brief period of time.

although his suit protects him from the heat, he needs it more for the mist the ice generates.

the smeargle takes the field after the dragon-type, syncing with kyle the moment it hits the field. the presence of strong-willed people backs their confidence up enough to be brave about their next gambit.

alone, the smeargle wouldn't have been able to emulate a move a legend can pull off. set up aids the pokemon to bring out its best, alongside the wonders that the sygna suit brings.

like a catalyst of its power, it points its brush of a tail towards the target. the difference between mist and steam start to blur as the pokemon channels the move, with the smeargle attempting to incorporate what constitutes the cause of poor visibility into its attack.

he's not trying to take the last hit. this is just how he plays.
