[attr="class","aurelie_body"]With all the movement around the festival and the accidental bumping into the Salamence, who had merely eyed her slightly askance before lumbering away, Aurelie missed seeing Watts rushing up toward her. But it was impossible to miss his excited barks of greeting. As she turned toward the friendly Boltund, jack wainwright appeared out of the flurry of snow and planted a gentle kiss on her cheek. A soft smile caught her lips at the easy, affectionate gesture.

"Hey, handsome," she said lightly to him, reaching out and squeezing his hand. "I didn't know you were here too! Having fun so far?"

Then the redhead swung her head back toward Yuina, her cheeks flushing. "Right, where are my manners? Yuina, this charming man is Jack, my..." Aurelie hesitated for a split second, before giving a mental shrug and admitting, "...boyfriend. Jack, this lovely and empathetic human being is Yuina, who very luckily was not a victim of mine."

Aurelie grinned, rather pleased with the mysterious and even sinister sound of that description. Hastily, she added by way of explanation, "Actually, I suppose we were all there for the Bloodmoon Beast search, weren't we? When I suddenly sprouted a TOXIC CHAIN, some kind of madness took hold of me, and I tried to attack poor Yuina here.

"Thankfully, she's kindly forgiven me for pretty much losing my mind and assaulting a perfectly innocent stranger," the redhead concluded. Despite her flippant words, her single uncovered eye shone with genuine gratitude and warmth.

Pursing her lips thoughtfully, Aurelie raised her eyebrows and went on, "Though actually, you two probably know each other even without me needing to introduce you! Considering you're both Rangers and all." She nodded toward Yuina's Ranger armband and badge.

Her grin turned mischievous as she looked from one face to the other. "But if you two start talking shop for too long, I may just have to pelt you both with snowballs!"

“You’re right,” Yumi said to nabi park, nodding thoughtfully. “Though I think dear Mei was talking about going to a bar afterward. Still, there’s no reason we can’t pregame.” [break][break]

Grinning, she all but dragged her two friends toward the stalls with snacks and drinks. One vendor was selling paper cups of spiced wine and cider. Though the alcohol amount was not very high, in Yumi’s opinion, it would suffice. [break][break]

“Three cups of spiced wine,” she told the woman behind the register. Money exchanged hands, followed by the cups. Yumi handed one first to Mei Liu and the second to nabi park, taking the third for herself. [break][break]

“We should get snacks for the Pokémon, too,” the long-haired woman mused aloud, eyeing a nearby stall selling pink, green, and white dango on sticks.

Shaking his head good-naturedly, Rhys stepped away from the mess of snow to observe his Audino's antics in assembling her snowboy. The head, decoration, and now body were complete, but all managed to lay on the ground separately and had yet to resemble anything approaching a snowboy or indeed any other form of recognizable shape. "Hold on there," he murmured to Althea, "You've got to get the bottom done first before the rest can go on, and it's got to be the biggest part. The biggest, you understand?"

He holds his hands apart, wide, in order to illustrate. Althea regards this display keenly, then offers a happy chirp and a nod of understanding before tottering over to begin rolling another mound of snow. Rhys snorted, sliding his hands into his pockets, and watched as Althea wandered around and around in circles, her parcel slowly growing larger and larger. Once she'd completed it, he'd likely have to assist in assembling it, but that's what one did for one's friends, wasn't it?

While the performance comes to a little wind-down, she enjoyed the music that Ms. Blooms had put on. The last year had been a bit chaotic since they had everything happen in Route 105’s island and the incident with the Blood Moon Ursaluna. Now, the year of the dragon brings a lot of change to everything that she had seen in Hoenn. “Do you have any new years resolutions for this year, Alex?” She asks the gym leader while there were little noise occupying their time in talking to each other.[break][break]

Her ghost Pokemon and the Zeraora come back to accompany the young dark magenta haired woman and Chamomile brings back a pink button that someone had dropped in the snow. “Thank you, Chamomile. I think we can use it for our button collection at home.” Elise takes the button from the pink teapot ghost’s hands and pockets in her coat.

Rhys smirked as Althea worked to complete the base of her snowboy, at one point tripping forward to plunge face-first into the growing sphere of snow in front of her. Stifling a laugh, he moved to tug her free of the imprisonment, though the result was that the entire carefully-rolled sphere of snow was dispersed messily across the surrounding area.

Althea began sniffling dejectedly, and Rhys offered her a smile and a reassuring pat on the head. "Hey, hey, no worries! You start again, and I'll get us a little treat to keep our energy up, okay?"

Offering the Audino a parting wave, Rhys wandered over to the concessions stalls, rubbing his hands together in anticipation. He cast a surveying gaze over the stalls and carts, eventually landing on the brightly-colored dango skewers arranged artfully along one cart.

Clapping his hands together brightly, he moved to stand in line for the snack, glancing idly about as he waited. His eyes met Yumi Hasegawa near her entourage and he offered a wave and a broad smile in greeting from the distance between them.

The concert is over, and the festivities have begun to slow down. Most of the crowd has begun to retreat from the snowboy-covered fields and towards the main venue of the festival, where warm bonfires and hot drinks provide a welcome reprieve from the oncoming cold. As the sky begins to darken, these bright spots of light on the snowy grounds become beacons around which festival-goers can gather.[break][break]

Those who choose to mingle might find their eyes drawn to the two merchandise booths near the festival stage. There's the standard fare: plushes, hoodies and the like, but one thing more, courtesy of a private joke of luka chêne's that had gotten out of hand.[break][break]

The 2024 ranger calendar is a ridiculous thing. But somehow, it's selling well. The rangers have no shortage of attractive members after all, and if one wants to see ollie morales, Audric Black, and others posing with adorable pokemon every month of the year, there are several copies still available.[break][break]

And although the event is nearly over, it isn't going to simply fizzle out. A loud boom explodes overhead as the fireworks show begins, one last bang to close out the night.[break][break]

Bursts of color streak across the sky, reds and golds and myriads of other colors reflecting off the white snow below. Many are of the traditional fare, but some fireworks explode into different shapes: a pokeball, the outlines of various dragon types, and even an attempt at the ranger insignia. When the finale arrives, its sparkling display sets the entire sky alight while many of Remiel Calcifet's guardians add their own dazzling dragonfire to the show, their roars mingling with cheers from the crowd.[break][break]

Gently grasping the other woman's hands in hers, Yuina was delighted with a soft smile that they were able to meet again under much better circumstances. No one was prepared for what was going to happen that night, and Yuina even felt pangs of survivor's guilt every so often having known what Desiree went through in order to rid herself of the toxins, what she did when she lost control of herself...[break][break]
"Understanding is the least I could offer... And I hope that if the time comes and those Megalopolans come around again, that we have the chance to take care of things together," Yuina returned, everyone had become allies together that night, trying to survive and make it out of the swamps. Knowing that they could all have that solace to work together again if the time called for it was something Yuina hoped for, if that time ever came.[break][break]
Finding a new friend in Aurelie, Yuina turned now in regards to her snowman that she and her Pokemon were working on, where Lola and Moroe had started to pile together a bunch of snow in order to start working out the base. And Aurelie sounded delighted in the idea of helping them.[break][break]
"Yes, we've only just started, but I think with your help we could really make it something special for the dragons here," Yuina smiled, watching the dragon that had come a bit too close, bumping into Aurelie.[break]
"We were going to finish the base, and get started on the body and head," she offered, when another festival goer approached, gingerly pecking Aurelie with a kiss on her cheek. They were introduced, Yuina felt she'd heard the name Jack before, he was another ranger as Aurelie spoke about them both. Yuina smiled, nodding along with the red head.[break][break]
"If the worst that came out of our encounter with the Toxic Chain in the end is a new friend, then I'm glad we had the chance," Yuina mused, Aurelie was really being far too kind and generous in her words regarding Yuina, she couldn't take on all the praise.[break][break]
"No, I don't think we've met officially, Jack, but I'm sure I've seen your name on the rangers reports from time to time. It's always good to have another set of names and faces to put together."

“Wait a second—what?” he blinked.

Thomas—there could only be one.

“Hold up, hold up one second are you talking about Thomas Benoit and Miss Desiree being a thing?” he clarified; because well, he and Tom were really good friends who went way back and… well, they were the ones who found a certain egg that he’d hatched and was now carrying in his possession.

It wouldn’t take too long for him to spot another merchandise table… and for some reason he made headway towards it and grabbed one of the Ranger calendars for sale.

Without further preamble he would flip almost halfway; he stopped on the July spread and guffawed because that was his friend right there, puffing a vape and not predisposed to wearing shirts—

“Holy shit, he got even more ink than last year?!” he guffawed before flipping the thing towards August to check if the one he would see was…

Ehehehe…

Of course, the popping sound of fireworks above wouldn’t go unnoticed either. Were they really that close to the entire event coming to a close, so soon?

With the first cracks of fireworks, Ettie jumps a bit - somewhat spooked. But as she glances to the sky, she is then rewarded with a beauteous explosion of color above - like a blooming flower. And then again, and again - a resounding crack, followed by a burst of colorful sparks above! Fireworks!

Ettie was familiar with them from time spent visiting Johanna Joy - though firework shows always startled her, for as much as she loved them.

As the surprise fades though, she giggles, prancing along amongst her pack and the fellow civilians, enthused at the festivities. Her pack had made some really good snowboys - at least in her opinion - and she wanted to see what else was going on here!

Which, does lead her to a table with calendars - though she wasn't the most familiar with these objects. She sneaks one for herself to look through it, noticing that it had images... Though, while pokemon are cute, she doesn't really know a lot of the people on it - she is not the target audience, really. And as a result, she quickly loses interest - putting the calender back without a second thought.

Ah well, back to playing and watching the pretty fireworks!

As the concert ended, Makoto had found their attentions drifting a little - namely, to the merch being offered at a couple of stalls. There were a number of things being offered here... Including that of calendars?

Their curiosity is piqued enough for them to look through it - and seeing the cute pokemon, the attractive Rangers posed upon it... Noone was going to question it, if they were to take one home, right? They did need a calender for this year, so... Playing it as smooth as they can, they place their payment on the table, and slips a calendar into their bag.

As they move to go and check how their pokemon are doing, though, comes the first fireworks in the sky above - a beautiful display. And Kama seems to share those sentiments, they see, as they notice the Sneasel gazing upwards with an awed display.

Smiling softly, Makoto sits down with their pokemon - to join them in watching the fireworks show.

El is riding off the high of enjoying the concert, when they make their way for the merch stalls. They are eager to get at least some form of souvenir to take home - maybe stickers? Or a plushie? It'd depend on what they can find at the stalls, but they'd love for something that they can take home...

... Which, as they look around, they do find one that catches their eye - some calendars. Apparently, ones starring some of the different Rangers? It was definitely time for a new calendar with the new year...

Taking up a calendar to look through it though, they can't help but flush a little when they realize that the focus isn't only on Rangers and cute pokemon, but attractive Rangers and cute pokemon. While they don't usually think too much about others' bodies... Perhaps they are, at the very least, aesthetically attracted.

But, as they flip through a few of the months... They can't help but stop and freeze up, when they realize one of the images stars someone very familiar. Namely, that of Isaac.

Oh. That's right. Isaac Merlo was a ranger, too, wasn't he? Even if he's prone to doing his own thing (granted, 'his own thing' - especially in regards to looking over Petalburg Woods - tends to be very ranger-ly things.) And after meeting Suicune, and getting patched up, whatever sort of healing he had recieved also gave him extra muscles...

... Buying a fanservice-y calendar that includes their brother, however, felt way too weird. Setting it back down, they decide to go searching for other merch to take home - eager to get the thought of other people possibly being thirsty over their brother out of their mind.

As Alexei asks if Thomas and Desiree were a thing now, she nods to his question. “They are a thing now. I saw that they danced together at the holiday party and they both love each other.” Though she didn’t hear much of what they said at the party, she saw the love in their eyes. They were happy with each other and Elise wished that Cade could confide in her when they had the chance to talk with each other.[break][break]

And as the fireworks show starts with the loud banging of the firecrackers going off, the ambassador looks up at the sky. The night sky is filled with the beautiful colors of the fireworks and she looks a little sad.[break][break]

Elise really wished that Cadeyrn Osmond was here to see this with her. They would really share in the romantic moment with each other.[break][break]

When Alexei comes to buy one of the ranger calendars on the table, she goes over to the table and buys a ranger calendar as a gift to her partner. Her fingers flip open to the December spread and she blushes a little at her picture being on it along with her posing with adorable Pokemon.[break][break]

Maybe Cade would really like this after all.

It took awhile, for El to settle upon what they wanted to take home. But, they are content as they finally pass a small bag of merch to Bibidi, so that they could keep a hand free. Stickers, a keychain, and a pin - they were content with their haul.

And just in time, too, they realize - because before long, the first fireworks light up the sky. El's eyes similarly light up with joy at the sight - and taking Bibidi's hand, they lightly pull her along. "C'mon, let's get settled down so we can watch!"

Bibidi smiles gently, sighing fondly as she follows after her charge.

"No worries about us talking shop; I was just getting ready to head home when this monster-" Jack playfully kicked snow at his Boltund, how responded by lunging around and barking wildly, "took off to come see you. I'm actually sorry for interrupting but I'm glad I saw you both before I left!"[break][break]

Jack politely excused himself, tucking his hands in his pockets for warmth and calling his Boltund back to his side. He paused for a bit on his walk to watch the fireworks show before making his way back home.

It doesn't take long to find a place for El to sit with their pokemon, amongst the numerous Snowboys that people had created. With the evening coming in strong, the dimming lights would be brightened with each flash of color that the fireworks provided.

And as El watched the beauteous display, they'd lean against Bibidi, humming softly. Moments like these were so nice, and really... They were happy for more of this, in the coming year.

More moments of peace that one could share, with the people they loved.
