How did Quagsire even breathe underwater, anyway? Did they have fish lungs? No, that couldn't be it. They could breathe just fine on the land, too, so they had to have human lungs as well. But when, what? Did they have two sets of lungs? Fish AND human lungs? No, that was even more absurd. It'd be excessive. It'd be wasteful. It'd be like you having one set of human lungs and one set of smoking lungs, reserved exclusively for huffing cigarette smoke...

Gosh, this was great. Swimming was great! She loved swimming! And while she hadn't been sure about the whole "diving" thing, she was certainly warming up to it. Gliding around underwater, floating along with the fish, watching the crabs scuttle amongst the treasures, seeing the eels slither along like snak-- NOPE.

With her rosy view of the underwater world effectively unrosed, she quickly grabbed the first thing she could before immediately swimming back to the safety of the shore.

Last year, Madd made a nice chunk of change with this game. Sure, she wasn’t a fish, but it was easy enough. Her Blastoise—Aurora—did all the work. She just had to reach out and grab stuff.

After slathering on her last dab of sunscreen, the redhead stepped off the platform and onto her turtle’s waiting back. She then dropped to her knees and grabbed onto its shell. “Ready when you are.”

With a noise of acknowledgment, the Blastoise vanished beneath the surf.

When she’d been a kid, Madd had spent half her time at her Uncle’s house. To be more specific, with his daughter Aubre. Though by no mean professionals, the pair had tried their hand at Mantine surfing. It’d been fun, even if she spent more time in the water than out.

Now, she stood on the edge of the beach. Her bikini was a bit loose around the shoulders. The chest mountains meant having to go a size or two up. Luckily, the bottoms were okay. However, she kept having to adjust the damp trunks to stop them from sneaking into uncomfortable.

After listening to the lectures, she browsed the line of Mantine. Eventually, she settled on one that looked a little wizened. It had wrinkles around its shark-like eyes. It turned to her with a smile, one of its teeth was missing. “Hey—” The woman murmured after a look at the nametag. “You really okay being called Grammy?” The old ray bowed her head in the shallow surf.

“All right.” Looking to make sure no one was watching, she clumsily boarded the Mantine. She also tightened her life jacket. “Let’s start with something mid-level. A Starmie 720?” The speed with which the Mantine took off surprised her.

As great of a find as the Kingdra made yesterday, and as much as he wanted to reward her with another trip to the depths beneath Slateport, Josh had a lot of water Pokémon he wanted to get the chance to dive with. With Roil the Gyarados out of the question, he moved onto the next water Pokémon, taking a seat on Kairi's back.

The Vaporeon bathed both of them in an AQUA RING before descending, conditions being murkier than the Champion would like. While he could somewhat see with Keiga due to going earlier in the day, all he could see with Kairi at such a late hour were silhouettes. Pointing at something based on its shape alone, Josh ordered the aquatic Eeveelution to unearth it with as light of a WATER PULSE as she could muster.
