The Mantine fucks up. Its left-wing dips too far. It clips the water. His prosthetic is wrenched free of his handle.

And, suddenly, they’re in the ocean. It takes him a minute to find his bearings in the foam. And, when he does, he bursts from the froth. Dual-colored eyes narrow as the Mantine makes its way up to him. It makes a number of pitiful noises. It tosses the tow rope at him.

“Get the fuck out of here!” Ezra pushes the things flat face away from him. Fueled by anger and indignation, the singer put his six-pack to use. The Mantine looked after Shaking himself like a wet dog, he made his way up the beach. His mount had returned to its post. There was a moment of hesitation as it queued back up.

He glared at it. “Well, well, well. Look who came fucking crawling back.” After a moment of indignation, the Settentrione boarded. “Let’s try this again.” The man’s voice is a low growl. With a slight stance adjustment, he goes for a Primarina Twist.

Again, the trick goes off smoothly. The redhead smiles softly as she gives the Mantine an affectionate pat. “Thank you.” Her voice murmurs into its hidden ear. “You’re doing great.” The manta ray makes a chirping noise. And Aubre doesn’t need a translator to know what it means.

“I had nothing to do with it. Please—well, there’s nothing to thank me for.” All she did was hang on and throw up a few mild corrections. Most of them were just repeating things the water type was already aware of. Which was quite typical of her. She wasted what words she had just reminding people of things they already knew.

Just like that night. She yelled to Evangeline that she was in danger even as her own skin sizzled. Like the heroic water-type didn’t know what she’d been doing.

“You ready for the real thing?” Again, her mind latched onto her words like a dog a squeaky toy. Now, she was implying all this work had been a big waste of time. Good job. “Sorry, I—just—can we try Over the Gyarados?” With a nod, the Mantine charged toward the next wave.
