THE SEASIDE CYCLING ROAD IS OBSTRUCTED BY AN OUTBREAK OF ARIADOS. Robust webs prevent cyclers and joggers from using the convenient lane to MAUVILLE CITY. Several sport grotesque TOXIC CHAINS. These spiders guard webs oozing with toxins that carry the faint scent of pecha berries. Taking these corrupted ARIADOS down will cause their chains to disintegrate.[break][break]

On these webs, several bundles of silk—both Pokemon and human-shaped—can be seen wriggling and crying for help. Some bicycles have also found themselves draped up and dangling like a macabre ornament.[break][break]



Approaching these ARIADOS, you will find that they are hostile. Clear the outbreak, save those ensnared, or continue to gather intel for your factions.

"Go." Gwyar said firmly as he made landing, his Corviknight's shadow sweeping over route 110 as his Aegislash launched out of his shadow.

It flew through the air, spinning about wildly as it cleaved through webbings keeping people trapped and suspended.

Gwyar lunged, catching them one after the other as they fell, his muscles bulging as they landed, before casually dropping them.

"Apologies!" He said politely, smiling and nodding down at them before moving on to the next one.

Others would handle the pokemon— he and Galatine would free the people.

It was an unsettling sight... The entirety of the cycling road was over run with webs and ariados hissing at every corner... There was no open way for any of the traffic to move, and it was completely covered, the toxic chains doing their bidding with the bugs they were attached to...[break][break]
There was little to do except try and cull through the thick webbing, Yuina and Daikenki worked in tandem each with a seamitar to slash with wisps of aerial ace through the webs and get to as many ariados as they could, trying to free the insects of the toxic chains that controlled them.

Cycling road was having issues this time. Ariados had created robust webs that prevented cyclers and joggers from using the convenient lane.

But no more! Johanna arrived as quickly as she could, Drifblim in tow to deal with the sticky webs. It’s sharp AIR SLASH’s quickly sliced and diced the annoyance.

While her Drifblim performed it’s duty Johanna was busying collecting as much evidence and information about the whole affair as she possibly could, taking pictures, collecting samples, all the good stuff. And still, while she was trying to be as careful as possible, she couldn't help but feel a bit unwell. Perhaps she ought to avoid further exposure?

Luka's Masquerain chirps in response, removing herself from the woman's head, where she'd been perched like a ribbon. Around them, Ariados web grows tighter and tighter, and the only way forwards is with brute force.[break][break]

An air cutter slices through the thick webbing, freeing some trapped Pidgey inside. They shake their wings free of the gooey strands and fly away, no longer prey to the rampaging Ariados.[break][break]

Hideo was not eager to deal with the recent outbreak of chained Ariados; the attachment he bore with his own was still sensitive, even after her "return".

But there was no way to ignore them webbing people up - and someone had to break those chains.

While his Oricorio helped cut down the trapped people and Pokemon with her Aerial Ace, Hideo's own Ariados went to work restraining the attacking Ariadoses, a small bandana wrapped around her neck to mark her as one of the un-chained ones.

There was an unmistakable unease that Hideo felt, though; he wasn't sure where it was coming from, but he felt uncomfortable just being here.

A nearby bundle of Ariados, clearly agitated by the act, pounce upon the Iron Valiant. It only makes the Paradox's life easier. With a flick of her vibrating violet blade, she dispatches them in turn.

Could they save those under the control of a Toxic Chain? He didn't know, nor admittedly, did he have time to find out.

If only he could fight this growing headache just as easily...

Sylv in the meanwhile rushes to those that are freed by Sylph's endless slicing, doing their best to calm them down and leading them away towards a safer space. "Just what has the pokémon all so mad?" they wonder, but the obvious answer is ... these Toxic Chains, whatever these are.

But where do they come from?

Lutgarde, unfortunately, has neither the brains nor the mind to deal with the question much. "Over here, Sylph! Some more Air Slashes, thank you!"

This was annoying, these upcropping of Toxic Chain pokemon were proving to be far more of a hassle than he initially thought they would be. It would seem that he would owe an apology, perhaps he'd buy him a drink. Still there was no time to lament his own ineptitude in front of him were a horde of horrific spiders, the same ones that had ensnared him in the Chasm, and almost eaten him alive had it not been for the help of one . So with a flash of white light he summoned forth his Gallade.

He was armored up just in case some Leaguer got the bright idea to try, and sniff out his identity. Amor didn't trust them as far as he could throw them.

"Cut them to ribbons...." He gave the order to his Gallade who extended it's arm blades with a mysterious power, and it began to weave through the throng of Ariados, and their webs. Slicing through them with it's Sacred Sword. Amor expected back up to arrive sooner or later so for now they would use guerilla warfare by hitting them, and then Teleporting to a safe distance to repeat the process all over again.

from a distance, annalise watches her charizard light up empty webbing with a flamethrower, freeing up more of the cycling path for other emergency responders to use. she takes out her phone to record the scene, putting her charizard in frame as it wheels above a group of ariados, predatory in its flight path. [break][break]another gout of fire looses from its jaws, immolating the bug pokemon and their writhing, parasitic TOXIC CHAINS. as they faint, the purple appendage breaks, confirming the theory proposed in 's original report. [break][break]as she films, she feels a wave of unwelcome malaise. it passes quickly, but the unsettled feeling remains. [break][break][break]

Tempest's stomach gurgled lightly when he dismounted. The scope in his hand he had planned to use to capture some of the action happening going ignored. A deep frown ingrained itself on his face.[break][break]

"I feel like I'm going to hurl." Was complained. A few deep, soothing breaths and the man tried calmed his stomach. A grimace given to when he stood up and got ready to do his work.[break][break]

"I think I'm fine. Probably just got a little airsick." It wasn't often that Tempest flew.

By this point, Andrea was basically doing a ranger's job with none of the benefits, patrolling the whole region for any new sightings of the Toxic Chain and critters affected by it--a poisonous patrol, if you will.

Constantly being on the move had finally taken its toll, or perhaps it was something else more insidious. As the young PokéManiac was about to save a pair of Wurmple trapped in a spider's web, she suddenly felt nauseous and light-headed, causing her to stumble. "Ugh... I don't feel so good..."

Chomper swooped in to her rescue, grabbing the sickly girl and flying off before the possessed Ariados could get either of them.

As Thomas approached Cycling Road, the Kalosian began to fall ill. His Zoroark placed a claw on his shoulder reassuringly. Before an enterprising Ariados could ensnare them in its Toxic Threads, the Zoroark sprayed down the spider with a Flamethrower. The threads quickly burned away, before they could reach either of them. As the Ariados fell unconscious, its Toxic Chain disintegrated right before their very eyes.

"So much for samples.", remarked Thomas, braving the sickness he felt.
