INFILTRATION SQUAD
IN THE HEAT OF BATTLE, Rocket knows how to play dirty.
Cillian Quinn wastes no time in commanding its psychic partner to
TELEPORT straight into the group of trainers and the pokemon defending them. Although he aims to be quick and nimble on his feet, the enemy’s Lucario appears to be well-trained as well. The pokemon’s innate ability to sense auras comes into play. It turns swiftly, its hand extending to grip the underboss’ wrist and secure it tightly. [break][break]
Much like Rocket was willing to forgo kindness and polite questions, so was the League. The pokemon’s hold tightens, just enough pressure is applied in order to force the man to drop the knife. The pain, naturally, is excruciating. The sound of bones snapping could be heard before Lucario tosses Gavin away.[break][break][break]

Alas, this serves as a necessary opening that Rocket seeks to utilize to their advantage.[break][break]
Remiel Calcifet’s assault proves nigh-impossible to tend to. Despite the joint efforts of the Espeon and the Umbreon, their
PROTECT can only cover so much ground. Tiny bugs invade the space of the League trainers, stinging and biting whatever they can reach. The pokemons themselves appear to be less damaged by such an attack, but it proves difficult to handle for the trainers themselves.[break][break]
Shouts of warning are replaced with cries of pain, setting the tone for this unfortunate attempt of holding Rocket back.[break][break]
Empoleon stills itself for the incoming attacks from
Emma Wolfe’s Porygon and Zoroark. The steel-type’s wings glow as a
STEEL WING commences, a desperate attempt that seeks to shield its partners (and itself) from further harm. Ultimately, it fails. The
EXTRASENSORY leaves it confused and dazzled, but the analytic-boosted
ELECTRO WEB manages to stun it all together.[break][break][break]

Alek Xanders’s Claydol takes a different approach from Gavin’s own. Less occupied with attacking or strengthening a countermeasure against healing, it unleashes a strange, psychic wave. At first, it appears to do nothing, but when one of the fallen trainers reaches for its necklace - something strange occurs.[break][break]
One can almost witness the transformation that’s about to take place, Lucario is surrounded by a spectacle of lights… That vanishes a moment later. The
MEGA STONE shatters into pieces, and a fragment of it reaches Alek instead. Due to this unforeseen turn of events, this unfortunate occurrence leaves Lucario unable to assist in combat. It collapses to the ground near its trainer, whimpering in pain. Seeking to exploit the rather strange explosion,
Alek Xanders's Toxapex also unleashes a wave of poison against the League's last line of defense.[break][break][break]

The trio of pokemon appears to be lost. Unable to flee due to Lulu’s
FAIRY LOCK and restricted to standing still due to the trap of
SPIKES, they know that they've been cornered. Now, it’s only a matter of time before they collapse to the effects of the poison— but surely, it could be made to happen sooner.[break][break]
DIVERSION SQUAD & LEAGUE SQUAD
LIGHT PERVADES WHAT DARKNESS CANNOT KEEP HIDDEN. Chu-e Choi brings a premature end to
Raziel Beckett’s
DARK TERRAIN, calling upon his Lickilicky to tend to the active terrain. A surge of steel-type energy enshrouds the pokemon with a visible, silver aura that feeds upon the remnants of the terrain’s spreading shadows. However, it is the burst of the attack itself that causes the terrain to vanish in its entirety.[break][break][break]

The area is consumed by a dazzling light, temporarily blinding all who dare to stare directly towards its source.[break][break]
However, although the underboss is successful in his endeavor of removing the terrain, his pokemon’s attack fails to reach its target.
kyle lopez’s Smeargle paints a portal powered by an unfamiliar
SHADOW FORCE, allowing the champion and his pokemon to disappear without a trace.[break][break][break]

Raziel Beckett’s Buzzwole makes its entrance then. The ultra beast takes flight, its wings buzzing loudly as it appears to seek out
oscar clayton’s Xurkitree and bring the fight to it. The electric-type seeks to draw attention with a
TAIL GLOW, and it does so successfully, earning the ire of the other alien-pokemon. With ice covering Buzzwole’s fist, it lands a decisive
ICE PUNCH, pushing back the floating tree.[break][break]
bryan delarosa manages to recall his Audino just in time before sailor
skyler dross’s
FAIRY LOCK comes into play. The docks are painted with an iridescent, pink glow - which can only mean one thing. For the next minute, none shall escape the battlefield. Although
bryan delarosa’s Grimmsnarl is more than capable of making a late arrival, it is unable to find Smeargle quite yet.
skyler dross’s Lapras, however, was not searching for a target in the crowd. It only seeks to punish those remaining on the field thanks to the
FAIRY LOCK. Conjuring a storm, the water-type breathes life for a
BLIZZARD to manifest. A makeshift of a barrier is brought forth, a pillar of ice standing between those who might have had hopes of reaching the ship.[break][break][break]

Whereas
jayden cross’s Eelektross intends to interrupt the blizzard and destroy whatever construct it was building slowly,
Raziel Beckett hopes to stop it from doing so. Shortly after the Rocket’s Ditto
TRANSFORMS into
kyle lopez’s Smeargle, the eel’s
FLAMETHROWER meets a well-constructed web of electricity, resulting in a small explosion that threatens no one.[break][break]
Or, well, so it seems.[break][break]
Valerio Dachev acts just in time, the Rocket Beast’s Shadow Togepi breathing its own
MYSTICAL FIRE that billows through the explosion’s smoke. Despite its boost of
SUPER LUCK, reaching the man from such a distance is no easy task. Instead, the flames burst against the ground near Razz and his own Shadow Pokemon.[break][break][break]

Both Shadow Rotom and Razz are unfortunately assaulted by the fire, but it’s his pokemon who bears the brunt of the attack, no pun intended. Fire clings to the Rotom, beginning to
BURN him slowly. His trainer, instead, only suffers minor burns that manage to spread across his legs. He is debilitated and wounded, but not out of commission just yet.[break][break]
But luck can only get you so far. Due to having been sent out only after the
FAIRY LOCK, Shadow Togepi is unable to react in time with its
SHADOW METRONOME. It bids its time instead, collecting wicked energy instead. It prepares itself should the right opportunity arise.[break][break]
Without so much of a warning, a second, shadowy portal opens in the middle of where the
DIVERSION SQUAD is standing. From within it,
kyle lopez along with his Smeargle and Manteric emerge. They stand at the center of the chaotic mess, ready to take action.[break][break][break]

Both
bryan delarosa and
Sénon Game at the first to notice the champion’s arrival. The Rocket’s Grimmsnarl follows the orders it received earlier, shooting the Smeargle with a red beam of energy that
CONFUSES the painter, at the cost of raising its attack. Before the
FAKE OUT attempt takes place, Senon’s
DAZZLING GLEAM is executed. It successfully blinds everyone across the battlefield for the second time, ensuring that Kyle’s pokemon don’t flinch prematurely.[break][break]
The
HYPNOSIS, however, falls flat. Haunter seems to be incapable of inflicting a status effect of that magnitude from such a long distance.[break][break][break]
