He had called in to report Andy's disappearance to the League, and somehow, it had become this mess of press.

Whatever.

The commissioner and her team would take care of it. He needed to find his friend.

Fully uniformed and in a foul mood, the youth stood flanked by both of his Orbeetles, overseeing the search of Search Team 1 with a deathly serious expression.

Frankie, the real OGs Hideo Kino, Eris Halla, Arashi Akiyama and Ruby Walker, as well as several dozen soldiers utilizing their own pokemon to excavate, made up the group.

"Nothing?" He asked his Orbeetles, to which the only reply was the blue glow of their eyes. He clicked his tongue, his fists squeezing tightly while folded behind his back.

Nearby, his stoutland sniffed the area around, having obtained Andy Blackadder's scent from his pokemon. His Vikavolt and Golisopod were hard at work with several other pokemon as well, utilizing Dig and Drill Run to tear through the wreckage of the rocks.

With any luck, something would turn up soon...

How could he let this happen...? They had been together. Had he somehow missed Andy on the way out...?

"Damn it all..." He muttered to himself as he brought the comm to his mouth, speaking into it. "This is Search Party 1. Nothing on our side yet. Any luck out there, over?"

Well that could’ve gone better.

Hideo hadn’t gotten much sleep the night before. Andy hadn’t shown up or answered any of his calls or texts, and while Hideo could hope that Andy had somehow managed to teleport to his camp, there was the problem of Hideo not knowing where exactly said camp was.

Obviously, word had gotten to his parents about the debacle. He didn’t know how John Sullivan was able to get him to come along, but he did. So now, Hideo was among one of the search parties sent to look for Andy.

Which just happened to consist of everyone involved with the initial trip. And a bunch of soldiers under Doug’s command. Crazy how that worked.

Still, no playing around. Someone’s life was in danger. He’d made sure to bring a more serious team this time; his Ambipom was left at home, and his Ribombee was busy recuperating at a Pokemon Center. Now he had his Beheeyem and Gardevoir with him, helping guide him and the coordinate with his team.  His Dugtrio was following along, waiting to be ordered.

“Nothing yet,” Hideo said. Of course, he already had Rocky, following Andy’s scent among all the other canine Pokemon doing the same. Thank Arceus there was already a team dealing with the pile of corpses they’d found before; their scent was still in the air, but it was much less intense now.

“If he’s around here, he’s definitely gotta still be in that cave. Where else could he have gone?” Though that would carry the obvious question of how to get back in there? They had to be careful not to cause another cave-in.

Perhaps not for the first time, Kaida wondered how this disaster had even happened. The droning of news reporter's voices still rung in her ears, an irritating reminder of why she was here, even after all this time.

It wasn't like she was unsympathetic, or unworried. It was a little one, a child, who was in about as much danger as an unsupervised Pichu. It was her duty to find the child. What did irritate her was the inordinate amount of people that crowded the area, groups which she gravitated away from as she released her own partners. She needed no help to dig through a cave.

An awe-inspiring symbiosis of flesh and stone roared forward, her Onix steadily releasing Stone Edge to simultaneously dig through and move rocks. She leaned down to pick up her Ekans, whispering a quiet command next to his head "Try to catch a young human's scent, Ormr." This was a quiet, if tiring job, but she still felt safer with Ormr's coils around her shoulders.

A simple hunt for a child, that was all this was.

A child is missing and a rogue Type: Null is running around attacking kids. This is certainly an “all-hands-on-deck” kind of situation. Eva wouldn’t be able to live with herself is she didn’t volunteer to help search for Andy Blackadder . After scouring the area thoroughly, the Rangers discovered a series of entrances to the underground tunnels. Newest Head Ranger, Xander Belmont , had agreed to let them tag along. The group, composed of quite capable trainers, had agreed to take one of the more dangerous entrances underground.

Naturally, Eva didn’t think twice before fixing the headlamp onto her head and hopping down first through the crack in the ground, disappearing into the dark of the tunnel. Blade is quick to follow.

It’s dark, damp and quite cool. The thin beam of her headlamp helps a bit but it’s still difficult to see, “Anyone have something that can light this place up?” It’s eerily quiet, with only the muffled sound of their footsteps to break the silence.

A chuckle came behind Stormy as she assaulted the hollering rube. A lean man in dark clothes covered his mouth, stifling what would have been a nefarious cackle. After all, he wished not to draw too much attention to himself. He cleared his throat, stepping forward to speak in a hushed tone. 

"Right you are ma'me, quite right. If we are to sneak upon the child and capture him, we must use stealth and caution." Ronald stopped short as he thought for a moment, bumping his forehead as he remembered his purpose here. "I-I mean save the child. Apologies, slip of the tongue and all that." 

Ronald chuckled nervously as he slunk back into the shadows, attempting to avoid scrutiny as the search continued. He couldn't help it if his nerves were frayed, he was attempting to do some good for once after all. Not out of the kindness of the black abyss that used to be his heart, no no he sought profit and nothing else. Surely he would be rewarded handsomely should he heroically save the lost Andy from the wilderness. That was the custom with these kinds of searches right? It better be.

His toxicroak, Maleficar, slid forward as he peered into every shadow. His eyes were sharper than any human's, slowly scanning his surroundings as he waited for danger with Anticipation. He didn't trust the other humans; they lacked the amorality of his master, which made them a threat. He slid up next to the Silvally at the front, watching its back as the party moved forward.

greyson fell behind the others, looking in places that some might've missed, or not initially thought of. he didn't prance a top a sawsbuck, nor was he particularly engaging the other members of the search party. not just because, he only really knew Stormy Silph .

attention was held best in his silence.

violet orbs peered upwards at the darting figure of a pidgeot. ace had been informed to search for anything of importance, but primarily keep her eye out on the figure of a young boy. her species KEEN EYE was invaluable, in moments like these.

while he wasn't an expert, it was common sense that the longer the kid went missing, the less likely he'd be to be found alive. as if sensing the dark though, the comfey on his wrist mewed somberly. he gave her a gentle pet, reassuring her even when he didn't feel it himself. if they found the child injured, ellie would prove vital.

"do we have anything that we could use to track his scent?"

he couldn't help but cast a sideways glance in Ronald Rogers 's direction. what an odd thing to say.

a LIGHT SCREEN shimmers around the electric-type, illuminating enough of the tunnel. it rolls on ahead, keen to start their search.
