This Mantine has absolutely NO remorse at all. It’s the Mantine from HELL!

He was absolutely fucking sure that Guillermo Marceliño had seen him wipe out so badly.

Thankfully, however, the Mantine he’d decided to latch onto (or watch him suffer, he wasn’t sure which) had some semblance of mercy and didn’t allow him to fall off every time he botched the trick.

Then again, there were so many people trying the damned thing so hard, it was literally go big or go fucking home (out of embarrassment)!

“D-d-d-d-d-don’t drop meeeeeeeee!” he shrieked again as he hung on for dear life, the relentless Mantine overly eager to try the Magikarp Splash once again.

Again, and again—

Until they fucking nailed it.

Okay, slow an’ easy does the trick!

Now that he’d gotten one trick nailed down, why not… he cackled softly as he watched numerous people try and fail the hardest trick in the book—did it really take that much luck to land it?

He took a deep breath to calm himself. Hopefully the Mantine he was riding didn’t mind his hands being absolutely frigid despite the heat of the summer…

And it was then he had a brain wave. Maybe a stupid one, but—why not try to land the hardest tricks first and then work his way downward?

It was a start, at least…

Urging the Mantine into the surf again, he was here to try the Magikarp Splash.

(Stupid trick that was near-impossible to execute… should be made friggin’ illegal… but then again everyone wanted to show off, so there was that!)

Clearly there was something in the air that was causing a lot of people to try this one trick that had almost everyone wiping out in rapid succession…

Was it really that difficult? It looked deceptively simple…

But Izumi knew better than to underestimate the damned thing, so there they were.

Either way, she was going to join the crowd of people who’d so far attempted the Magikarp Splash and come out flopping into the surf…

Or was she going to come out on top?!

Hey, should she land the danged thing, at least she’d get the most difficult trick out of the way already, so… there was that.

Were you the type of person who wanted to play it safe and just accumulate whatever accomplishments you could? Or did you try to go for broke and perform the Magikarp Splash? Did you persist in trying to master a particular trick or cycle through all the options?

To her mild shame, she was going to try to play it safe today, after the blow to her confidence from missing the Primarina Twist. Just another Lanturn 360 attempt today, until she felt better and more comfortable with her own dexterity, coordination, and bond with the Mantine to try some of the more challenging tricks. As fun as going for broke could be, she wanted to feel like she had a handle on the basics first.

After her unfortunate mishap in her previous stunt. She was back and ready for more. This time she was aiming for the big one.

Mantine rode the waves, and she was secured atop the Mantine. Water splashed everywhere as they searched for yet another appropriately big wave. Once they found it, they scaled its waters until it was time.

And then both she and the Mantine did their attempt at the deceptively simple, but most difficult of all tricks, the MAGIKARP SPLASH!

Having successfully executed a LANTURN 360 as he'd intended, Caleb expertly maneuvered the Mantine through the next big wave in a sharp turn, feeling the thrill of adrenaline as he heard the crowd cheering from the beach. This isn't so different from riding Lyra after all, He thought excitedly. The Mantine was faster and more agile than Lyra, but staying balanced atop its slick back did not seem to pose much of an issue for Caleb. Now that he seemed to have the hang of things, it was time to try out one of the more advanced tricks: a STARMIE 720.

So she crashed and burned. But, she was still there. No major bruises. No head injuries. No concussions. No point in dwelling over the failure especially when nobody could tell who she was. All she had to do was get back in the game and go for round two.

The accursed Mantine wobbled against Callan's feet. Today's one was rowdy, and Callan struggled to hold still while the wave rushed upwards.

But maybe rowdy was what he needed, maybe in order to do a Magikarp Splash, you needed to embrace the chaos that came. Maybe it weasn't about technique and more about scrambling to get back on the board beforey ou shit yourself and hit the water.

"Magikarp Splash!" What was he gonna do? Another move without completing this one? He needed crowns baby.

it shouldn't really be a question on how many times kyle is willing to do it, but how many times does he need to try in order to perfect the move.

he gets on the mantine again after the last try. another magikarp splash shouldn't be too hard given that a lot of people have already done it. he's not special, but it shouldn't be a too difficult of a trick if there's more than three people that have already achieved such feat.

with another try, he attempts the trick.

A lot can happen, apparently. He barely even started the trick before accidentally thwacking his head on the side of Mantine's fins and flying into the brunt of the wave. Instantly submerged, Josh would scramble to get to the surface as Lightning hung onto the Mantine for dear life. He would surface to find the Mantine waiting for him, but there was no salvaging his dignity. Well, if he couldn't do that, then he might as well go for broke.

The Magikarp Splash. He shut his eyes before attempting this one.
