it shouldn't really be a question on how many times kyle is willing to do it, but how many times does he need to try in order to perfect the move.

he gets on the mantine again after the last try. an over-the-gyarados shouldn't be too hard given that a lot of people have already done it. he's not special, but it shouldn't be a too difficult of a trick if there's more than three people that have already achieved such feat.

with another try, he attempts the trick.

he doesn't actually go outside much, contrary to his build. he felt like he was going to be humiliated by the first try, but given that he was pushed into this and agreed, he can't fault anyone but himself for trying.

he gets on the mantine. it feels different from any other flying-type he had ridden on, and to think he has to balance himself on top of it without any traction already has him thinking he won't be able to do it.

still, there was no choice but to try the third hardest trick, and that he does.

Go figure; the blind bitch missed the mark. It hadn't been like he was expecting much otherwise—and the fact that he shot for what some would've argued to be the worst possible thing didn't make it better—but, y'know...still.[break][break]

Of course, though, as he took just a moment to confirm that his contacts hadn't been carried away with the tides, he only spared just enough time to clock where his Mantine was before making his way over, hauling himself back onto its back, and getting straight into the next wave.[break][break]

[attr="class","monbody"]It was stunning and quite spectacular to watch many people successfully pull off Magikarp Splashes, after many days of attempting the deceptively difficult trick. It almost made Aurelie wonder if she had been approaching the surfing from the completely wrong angle after all, and she should have been trying the hardest tricks first, rather than the easiest. That approach simply ran counter to all her instincts, though. One didn't master a skill by immediately trying the most difficult task they could possibly attempt, without any of the skills they needed to pull it off. Surely, that just wasn't how learning took place and success happened.

...Or was it?

Still, she'd made up her mind. The Starmie 720 still awaited her on the list of moves that she was gradually working her way up, rather than down. And if it made her different from the other surfers, then so be it.
