She took a quick gasp of breath before she landed, but the shock of hitting the water knocked it right out of her. She scrambled for the surface. Fortunately, the Mantine was right behind her and gave her the push she needed to get above the water, where she took a grateful breath of air.

Allright, so maybe riding a Mantine wasn't exactly like riding a Lapras. Caleb was used to a hard shell, not a rubbery surface that was far slipperier. Having failed his latest attempt at a trick, Caleb tried not to feel too discouraged. Perhaps if they could successful perform an OVER-THE-GYARADOS then nobody would notice their previous botching of a less complicated move. Worth a shot, in any case, he thought.

this time, he's serious. he never fails on anything, and every "fail" he got was just him messing around or simply testing the waters. he still hasn't synergizes with his mantine, and only then will it actually count.

The Raichu had chosen to just hang onto the side of the Mantine that wasn't going to be dunked underwater when a trip failed. But Josh was persistent and went for another Magikarp Splash anyway.

A yawn escapes Jack's mouth and his jaw cracks from the strain of it. The Mantine dips and flows between waves as the search for a good launching point. Soon, a colossal wave begins to break and they rush forward launching into the air.
