Okay, Mantine was starting to get scared. This kid's determination and rage was never ending. The Pokemon was only glad that Asher didn't take it out on it. The boy was actually quite nice to them. But this trick was breaking the kid's sanity. He was only a teenager! Why was he so insane already?! And where was his parents! The boy wanted to try it again. And Mantine doubted that the kid could manage it...and yet, he did!

At last, Josh had reached the very end of the trick pamphlet. Just one trick separated him from mastery, according to the Splashfest guidebook. While the MAGIKARP SPLASH was simple-looking, being a 720-degree backflip into a left-then-right rotation, it all had to be performed off the smallest waves the generator was making. Furthermore, the jumping portion at the end of the trick had to be performed at the very crest of the Mantine's jump. Getting that split-second timing down would be by far the hardest part of the trick. That timing is the exact reason why it was rated a CHALLENGE 20 in difficulty - the highest possible rating. Taking a deep breath, Josh set out for sea, trying to time his command to execute the backflip the moment the Mantine's body left the waves...

As Shalin's attempt counter at the OVER-THE-GYARADOS rose, her understanding of the tight movement needed to perform it grew. While it wasn't quite down to a mere matter of execution yet, she was still going to learn the complex motions needed, if one step at a time. She held the Mantine's reins firmly as it carried her into the air, making quick motions to execute the pitch and yaw changes for the twirling surfing trick.
