Lady Luck did not draw Josh's number. With how precise the timing of the Magikarp Splash's finisher was, he had his doubts he would be able to pull it off before the end of Splashfest. There were more concerning matters, though; he needed to dive to the barrier reef and pull his share of loot up from the depths, as the place was about to close for the night!

At least Shalin would almost always land upright after a failed Magikarp Splash, given the nature of the stunt. This made it much easier to switch to being atop her own Pokémon for the trip to the bottom of the barrier reef. She could barely see in the twilight, so she couldn't be picky about what she brought up!
