Alex went over to the usual fishing spot when he began to see the sign of an afternoon rainstorm begin to form after the slightly better luck the previous day.[break][break]

Josh's night at Splashfest couldn't possibly get any better. He had not only completed the entire Challenge-level surfing course, but he had found a new dive spot with some truly valuable treasure. He would be returning there as long as it lasted. Josh coaxed some playful twirls out of Resheph as the two returned to the dock. He picked up his fishing rod and returned to the spot he had success before, casting his line and waiting for a nibble.

Shalin was a little disappointed with her find at the bottom of the coral bed, but that was okay! At least she didn't come up empty-handed. She grabbed the pole she had set down at her hidden cove, then turned to sit sidesaddle on Levy's back before casting her rod farther than normal. Would anything bite all the way out there?

oh god. a big fish. giant. giant goldeen. she didn't know they came in this size. she marveled at it for a long minute. how did a fish get this big? by never getting caught.

until now.

removing the hook as gently as she could again once the goldeen had been calmed and fainted, she collected it into one of the event's pokeballs and cast her line out again.

and then they had two fish. this was more than plenty to eat on, but for the fun of competition, and an opportunity to bolster delta's survival skills, they continued.

delta held the bleeding lanturn in both small hands and plopped it into a bucket. sage frowned at the cloud of red which gushed.

"try to be more careful with the hook next time." 

sage turned and cast the line again, before going to work setting up a smaller rod. things had been biting too quickly to sit down with it.

okay. this was kind of gross, but also kind of fun. it was a small fish. not very intimidating. the right size catch for her. at least, that was what she thought, until she finished reeling it in and realized it was a sharpedo.

she dropped the rod, though it was quickly picked up and saved by someone else. soon enough, after a breather, she went back to try again.

Seems like "average" wasn't on the menu today: he reeled in another big Pokemon, although this one actually put up a fight. It took his Beheeyem's aid to reel it in, and unfortunately, it was way too large to put in a bucket.

It'd just have to sit around while Hideo fished for more.

Was this the counterpart of the gigantic thing (with the equally-gigantic clamshell bras) that he’d fished up a few days ago?!

Dang.

There was, for real, a big-ass pink Gorebyss flopping about in the tiny-ass bucket that was next to him as he threw the Huntail (as well as the line) back out into the water.

For now, mondo-sized pink fish stayed in the bucket with him… at least until something new caught his attention.

Yet, much like the Clamperls with their treasures, the supply of fish Pokemon never seemed to run out; everyone seemed to be pulling up catches every day. Are we all just catching and releasing each other's fish? Aurelie wondered with a chuckle. That actually made for a rather entertaining theory. With that possibility in mind, she tried to be extra gentle with any fish she pulled up and hoped other people were treating her released catches kindly as well.
