Vanilla had been fumbling around the entrance to the Ultra Deep Sea cave that had been populated long ago. While it had once been so desolate, now a pack of Mawile had taken up residence there. She viewed them with such interest, casting a safe glance from a distance. "Hm, I wonder of Elise has one of these. They look royal enough." she said, casting thoughts of Elise Calcifet as she'd sit in a tree nearby, her phone going over the few wild Mawiles current walking, talking amongst themselves or even sparring with one another. A thought came to her mind, imagining Elise in a royal dress, alongside a Princess Mawile, wandering through the halls of the Galar Castle to meet the Prince of their dreams. She snickered to herself at the idea, bringing her phone back down towards her face while trying to take a selfie for the royal.

The damage Granite Cave had sustained was a tragedy that made Howard want to cry. Rare murals! Fossils! Underground infrastructure! Granite was a durable type of stone, but even it couldn't take punishment day in and day out! It just wasn't fair. Who knew how much ancient history had been lost during the Battle of Dewford? History that would never be recovered.

Yes. That was how HOWARD SLAYTE, PRINCE of Archaeology began crying over a pile of shattered rocks that he found deep in Granite Cave.

"Nooooooo! It's not fair, it's not fair!" Howard cried over the shattered fossil. "It was in almost flawless condition, too!" There was no way to actually verify this, but judging from the cracks and damage that it had sustained, the damage was recent, and an earlier extraction could have resulted in a gorgeous specimen. If only he could be everywhere at once. He would've excavated them all...

A shuffling sound caused Howard to look up. "Eh? Who's there!" He shouted out into the darkness. A crowd of Mawiles began to approach him, encroaching on him from the shadows that they had been hiding in. Maybe they thought he was a threat. Nonsense. The only threat to Howard Slayte was Howard Slayte. He couldn't threaten anyone.

"Eheh... Steel-types." Howard gulped as he prepared to release Shirley. One of the Mawile's fangs began to snap at him, as if tasting the poverty that he exuded. If he brought out his Aerodactyl, he could possibly get away. Yet the type matchup was poor. One of the Mawile's fangs snapped again.

No. He couldn't do that to his girl.

The Mawiles approached and surrounded him. "I don't have anything for you to eat! Howard protested. "I have saltine crackers. You can have some if you want!" They didn't seem to like that answer, though.

"Argh... No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Howard screamed as they dragged him off into the cave.

The Ultra Deep Sea... the battles they'd faced there had been forever engraved into Saki's heart. They didn't intend to return there today, but wandering Granite Cave to reminisce had sounded pleasant at the time. And of course, if they 'got into an accident' and wound up in Ultra Space again, well, such was life. In fact, they were starting to realise they had quite a fondness for that other world... although, unfortunately, there weren't many people there to play with.

Instead of exploration, though, today had become a day of training. In particular, for Iroha. This was where they had first met - well close enough anyway - and there were so many Mawiles to practice on. Not necessarily for her to grow stronger, but to increase the bond between trainer and Pokemon. The Iron Valiant's brutal efficiency proved quite effective even under these circumstances, mixing psychic trickery with raw force to leave a trail of unconscious bodies.

At least, that had been the idea. An idea that was mostly successful, but the faux-steel-type had grown visibly exhausted, looking back over her shoulder with a slightly narrowed gaze.

"Marisa wouldn't be that much better at doing this." It was far from uncommon for Saki to talk to herself, but this wasn't one of those times. "Besides, this is about us getting to know each other! We've already learned you don't like prolonged fighting or effort, for example."

Her Pokemon looked to the side and squinted.

"Hey, what's that meant to mean!? It's still going fine, isn't it!? ...Well how was I meant to know any of that, huh!? ...Oh, well excuse me, princess!"

Valerie watched one of their number wandering along, a carefree smile on its face as its gigantic pair of jaws gnashed against one another. It had all the elegance of a princess, yet all the viciousness of a raging beast. It was a harsh juxtaposition, a strange mixture of elegance and brutality. In truth, she found it more than a little off-putting. Yet, more than anything else, it was strong, and Valerie couldn't deny that kind of power.

Though, just because she couldn't deny it, that didn't mean she had to like it. Just looking at that giant mouth full of jagged teeth was enough to make her feel nauseous. Still, as long as it was fighting for her, she wouldn't have to worry about it, right...?

"Alright, h-here goes..."

So, with her mind made up, she would wait for one of the curious creatures to wander far enough away from the swarm, before she would seize the opportunity and throw her Pokeball.

Is this an example of a criminal returning to the scene of the crime, Makoto wondered? After Rocket had made like thieves of some prince or princess' treasure in Ultra Deep Sea, it felt almost wrong to return to this place - and yet...

... The presence of a number of Mawile had drawn their attention - curious pokemon to say the least, given their larger secondary mouth that they bore. (Or, would it being the larger of the two make it the primary mouth?) It was reassuring to see that even after the chaos that had happened here before, that the wild pokemon who call this place home were able to comfortably return to life as normal.

Lingering amongst the shadows, Makoto would watch a few that pass by - curious to see what they were up to.

"Connibear, help rear your kind away from the open paths. We don't need any more injuries in these caves." He said sending out his own Mawile partnernto begin to do battle against her brethren. The steel type rushes in, eager to prove her strength in battle. She fights for no PRINCE or PRINCESS, and instead is simply eager to overcome herself. Recklessly so, Paxton thinks. But he allows it for now keeping watch like a noble with its retainer. "Don't get overwhelmed, I will pull you out!" He added as she begins to bite and kick a group of them. She moves and spins, all too giddy to prove herself.
