Cascading flames spilled from the gullet of BARNABY FINCH's ARCANINE, washing the ice-laden door in burning shades of orange and red. The admin watched on as others joined in as well, making slow progress on opening their passage further into the ruins.[break][break]

When Zev Harcourt snarled for backup, however, Barnaby's focus changed immediately.[break][break]

"On it!" He responded, whistling sharply to beckon his hound to battle.[break][break]

The ARCANINE whirled around to face the oncoming enemy and lunged forward with unmatched speed. When in range, it then unleashed a torrent of unrelenting fire all around it, BURNING UP (130 BP) any surrounding opponents.

THE ENEMY ATTACKS

BATTLES ERUPT AS BOTH FORCES CONVERGE AT THE CENTER. several trainers break away to serve as vanguard, undaunted by their enemy’s numbers. they do not have to defeat them outright. they just have to slow them down, by any means necessary. and what better than to attack and disable? to thrash and dismember?

various attacks rain down on ROCKET forces. the obvious thing to do is get out of the way. weave and dodge. but not everyone can move so nimbly over limited space. and what about those that have devoted themselves to finding a way inside? they are the most precious commodity as nature staves them off.

some protective measures come out but the offensive force is too overwhelming. stray attacks rattle the temple walls. the outer lays of ice is scratched, chipped, and sizzles where each attack lands. an unexpected aid that allows the ROCKET to pry the doors slightly ajar.

RACE MECHANICS

RULES

THIS MEGATHREAD will test how well your faction can clear moderator requirements in a timely manner. [break][break]

each player and their representative pokemon is a resource for your faction to utilize. each round will introduce an obstacle that certain pokemon can clear. [break][break]

it is up to players to address these obstacles by following the moderator prompt. [break][break]

it should be noted that each participant can only post ONE TIME. once you have cleared an obstacle, you are essential ‘used up’. [break][break]

the EXCEPTION to this rule is if a participants wants to pay 500 MP. this will allow a player to assist with the obstacle without being ‘used up’. [break][break]

each faction will tackle the same obstacles with different values to reflect the disparity in players. once an obstacle is cleared, a moderator will provide information on which players cleared that particular obstacle. [break][break]

those player may now create a FACTION RACE BATTLE. this is just a battle thread that allows both participants to earn MP.

FAQ

WHICH OBSTACLE SHOULD I CLEAR?

if your pokemon is versatile, you should pick an obstacle your pokemon excels at. for the first round, players with the heaviest pokemon for their faction were tagged as a hint. if no obstacle sticks out, you may want to wait just to ensure your faction does not hit a bottleneck.

however, account for the OOC aspects of this event. if you do not think you will be available later on, or cannot finish a FACTION RACE BATTLE quickly, you may want to clear an obstacle asap.

WHY WOULD I PAY 500 MP TO HELP CLEAR?

to help your faction progress in the event! should one faction fall behind by the end of the event, this will have an effect on the narrative outcome.

another reason you may want to contribute is to post again. some players may enjoy the spotlight or feeling that their character is actively contributing to their faction. however, it should be noted that this does not entitle paying players to rewards or moderated acknowledgement.

WHEN SHOULD I PAY 500 MP?

your faction may run low on resources the longer this event goes on. if they stall due to a bottleneck, that would be the most opportune time to assist. likewise, if your faction is coming close to a deadline, your help may ensure that they clear it on time.

WHY IS THIS EVENT CALLED A RACE?

[break][break]

both faction are attempting to clear obstacles by deadline. should they be unable to, they will face a steeper obstacle or just have to wait longer before the next moderator response. should a large enough gap happen by the end of the event, this will heavily influence the narrative outcome of the event.

WHY IS THERE A DEADLINE INSTEAD OF ASKING US TO MOD REQ WHEN COMPLETED?

the deadline gives both factions X amount of time to clear. should they be unable to clear by deadline, they will be given a static time delay as well. this is to help mitigate the discrepancy in activity between players within a reasonable threshold along with accommodating varied time zones.

Seemed like he was finally called upon as the obstacle that presented itself was to fight back. His strength was necessary to defend against the league. [break][break]

A rock flies towards them and bryan uses his super strength to smash it to pieces, however a much larger attack flies directly at them and his grimmsnarl rushes in front of him, ready to receive orders "POWER WHIP!" he orders as the grimmsnarl gathers it's tendrils of hair and slices some of the attacks into pieces to try and defend. "The rest of you go! We got this!" he orders them if there were people willing to listen to him.

After his encounter with Laurence Anderson ended in a stalemate, Cillian claws his way back up from the chasm he'd dropped into and goes in pursuit of Rocket. Chatter over the comms suggests trouble with the League, and his most recent fight's unsatisfying ending has him craving conflict.[break][break]

Soon enough, noise from the comms transitions to an echo down the caverns. The chaotic ruckus suggests a clash between factions.[break][break]

When it was her turn to step up and assist she made sure that she and Osiris would do well. They’d been training for this after all. With a nod of her head to her allies, she turned her attention towards the enemy, the League. “Give ‘em hell.” She ordered Osiris, her Lucario as he barked a sharp response. [break][break]

His foot work was clean and practiced as he swiftly closed the gap between him and the enemy. Taking the fight right to them, up close and personal. CLOSE COMBAT being one of his preferred method of combat. With quick fists and kicks, his blows were heavy and would take any who underestimated him by surprise. Hopefully with the work of those around her they would be able to buy time for their allies to pass through.

He steps in as the rearguard before moving up to catch up with the rest. As they keep going he points to the walls squinting before shouting to the rest. "Is that- is that just decoration?" he asked, though he knows it isn't quite. It could be but there's too many to make it some kind of art work or architecture style. He knows that much anyway. He moves to a wall, rubbing one rune carefully before looking for his intern, howard slayte . "Mr. Wednesday, I can't read! Hurry!" [break][break]

"I'm coming! I'm coming! Let me translate it!" The archaeologist ran towards the location dedicated by his superior. After running his hand across the braille, he turned to his colleague. [break][break]

"One must pave the way. An easy path for some means hardship for others." His hand continued feeling the braille. "Repeated." Neon tilts his head, before laughing. "Harsh, much?" [break][break]

It doesn't take that long before the League is upon them and as others move to action, he urges Howard forward. "Save whatever you can, Bifocles." he urged, his helmet naturally RECORDING the battles unfolding. [break][break]

"I'm gonna keep going. Good luck, boss." Howard clapped the Rocket Beast on the shoulder. "Don't die!" [break][break]

"Never." Neon replied with another laugh as his comrades began to push back to the rear. "What're those big ole brains of yours thinking ladies? Hops?! Lulu Flint ?!" he shouted, his helmet reflecting a wide grin as he reaches for a pokeball at his waist. [break][break]

As Tempest Quinn and Cillian Quinn , step up, he chimes in after bryan delarosa , "They won't get through!" He tosses up a pokeball, and out off the light it ejects slams down a roaring Baxcalibur, echoing through the space. Tiramisu towers over over his trainer as the Beast spins a knife in hand. "Theta, blow them back." Neon ordered as the dragon slammed forward, taking point and unleashing a powerful EARTHQUAKE.

Zev Harcourt proves the exception. whatever control he believes he has starts to come undone as his body hungers for the endless energy. his black crystals recognizes where the POWER SPOT comes from. or, rather, who it comes from.

RULES

THIS MEGATHREAD will test how well your faction can clear moderator requirements in a timely manner. [break][break]

each player and their representative pokemon is a resource for your faction to utilize. each round will introduce an obstacle that certain pokemon can clear. [break][break]

it is up to players to address these obstacles by following the moderator prompt. [break][break]

it should be noted that each participant can only post ONE TIME. once you have cleared an obstacle, you are essential ‘used up’. [break][break]

the EXCEPTION to this rule is if a participants wants to pay 500 MP. this will allow a player to assist with the obstacle without being ‘used up’. [break][break]

each faction will tackle the same obstacles with different values to reflect the disparity in players. once an obstacle is cleared, a moderator will provide information on which players cleared that particular obstacle. [break][break]

those player may now create a FACTION RACE BATTLE. this is just a battle thread that allows both participants to earn MP.

WHICH OBSTACLE SHOULD I CLEAR?

if your pokemon is versatile, you should pick an obstacle your pokemon excels at. for the first round, players with the heaviest pokemon for their faction were tagged as a hint. if no obstacle sticks out, you may want to wait just to ensure your faction does not hit a bottleneck.

however, account for the OOC aspects of this event. if you do not think you will be available later on, or cannot finish a FACTION RACE BATTLE quickly, you may want to clear an obstacle asap.

WHY WOULD I PAY 500 MP TO HELP CLEAR?

to help your faction progress in the event! should one faction fall behind by the end of the event, this will have an effect on the narrative outcome.

As you look upon the colossal form of the Regice, you feel like a Mankey staring at a Gigalith. Just being in the presence of this titan is unbearable. It feels like every nerve in your body and every neuron in your brain is freezing over. You are not looking at a Pokemon, but a nightmare. Forgotten hopes and broken dreams radiate from it as though it's a nuclear reactor of pure despair. Are you... Are you afraid of it? You don't know. Whatever you're feeling isn't as profound as what you felt when you were looking at the Vessel. It isn't as deep as that, but its so wide that it feels inescapable.

You're supposed to fight this? On the surface, it might seem plausible. Likely? No, but definitely plausible. After all, you've got a whole group of Rockets here, Beasts and Head Scientists and Underbosses and more. Plus, you've already survived an encounter with that massive Regeleki in the Ultra Plant, so you should be able to survive this battle, too. It sounds very doable, but standing where you are, it feels completely and utterly impossible.

Yeah, this is the end of the line. You've all taken this little archaeology mission as far as you can, but its time to call it quits. Know when to hold them, know when to fold them, and all that. So, as the monstrosity begins to stir, you turn to leave--

"Buzz! Icicle thinks it can stop-halt me? Have to murder-kill it! MUST KILL-MURDER IT! Buzz!"

You look back at your Beedrill, eyes wide. Really? Of all the times to get testy, it had to be now? A few minutes ago, you were picking fights with League grunts, and she was all fine and dandy. But now that you're staring down a gigantic sentient glacier, she decides this is the battle she's taking? This is absurd. You're pumping the brakes.

"Nope. We're leaving. Lets get out of here."

"Buzz! Buzz!! BUZZ!!!"

Uh oh. She's not listening. Your wasp is trying to pick the most unwinnable fight of all time, and she's not going to back down for love nor money. Well, nothing to do here but cut your losses, right? She's made her bed, and your mattress doesn't even have bedsheets. She can die if she wants, but you very much intend to live. Does it suck? Sure, but it's not like you can do anything about it. To borrow a saying from Kalos, this is very much a "say lavee" moment. Now, time to run...

Fuck, man. You can't just leave your idiot Beedrill to die! It wouldn't be cool at all! So, it seems you're stuck here. You're going to die a meaningless death in this nowhere cavern, and this Regice won't even be nice enough to leave a corpse behind. You'll be obliterated so thoroughly that nothing will remain of you but other people's memories of you.

So, best to leave them with a good last impression, yeah? If your opponent isn't going to give you the cool and significant death you want, then you're just going to have to make it yourself.

"Well, I don't have a will ready, so..." You look over to howard slayte, unhooking your belt and tossing your remaining Pokeballs over towards the man. "I'm leaving all my earthly possessions to you. That includes my Pokemon, my garden, and about 5000PD of assorted debt. I love you, Howard. Godspeed."

With that, you ignore your own survival instinct and sprint forth, Beedrill buzzing along close behind you. As you do, you shed your disguise. If you're going to valiantly sacrifice yourself, you want people to know who died for them. So, you knock the hat off your head and rip the mask off your face, tossing it aside. Y'know what? Fuck it, the trench coat and shirt can go too. You're a little buff, so you might as well show that off. Besides, you don't need to justify it. You'll be dead soon.

As the Hyper Beam screams past you, you grab your Mega Accessory, finger tapping on the Beedrillite glistening in the centre of it. May as well go all out, right? You took out a loan of 500PD to get it, so you might as well get your money's worth and actually use it.

So, you take a deep breath, and in an instant, Infinity Energy wraps itself around you and your Beedrill alike...

...Ghhhh. Uncomfortable. Never stops being uncomfortable. But, does not matter. What is done is done. Our power is far greater now. We are faster and stronger. Better. Better enough to smash-shatter this block of ice. Better enough to hurt it. Better enough to make it regret. How best to do that? Need to think-plan. Cannot risk mistakes. Making mistakes means we get die-killed. Do not want to be killed-die. Have to be smart. Terrible state of affairs. Thinking not our specialty. Alas. Needs must.

Toxic Spikes? Useless. Too flimsy-frail. Too small. Would not stop it. Would not even slow it. String Shot? Nnn. No. Would take too long. Too little payoff for much effort. Focus Energy? No. Not worth considering. No time left to stall-wait. Pin Missile? Not enough destructive power. Would not pierce deep-far enough. Would not break the ice. Fell Stinger? Ghhh. Not now. Too soon. Poison Jab? Right in the centre. In its not-eyes. Hit the Power Spot. Fill it with venom-toxin. Watch it all come tumbling down.

Yes. YES. Very good.

We surge forward. The human part less fast. The Beedrill part more fast. Great violent-vicious drills rear back as poison coats the surface. Wings beat with great urgency. All haste is summoned. All strength is summoned. All hate is summoned. All to deliver a Poison Jab straight to the centre.

We MUST break it.

Blood is shed, bodies fall, lives are snuffed, its all leading up to this one singular moment. As the ice melts she can feel it prickling on her skin, the ancient energy that she experienced in that far off dream of another world, the subconscious memory of an innocent maiden who took her place for but a brief moment. The frozen waste cracks open and a wave of primal energy rushes over her, the lizard in her brain screams to get away as Xenon bares witness to the colossal Regice looming tall over all of them.

Once again she feels the delusions of the Ultra Deep Sea gripping her soul, her mind warps as this primordial power screams at her to run, escape, flee as fast as she can. She can understand the alien pitch of the Legendary being counting them off, in a few seconds it will unleash a fury so great that they will all be wiped clean from the slate of history. All one can do is run in the face of such a power, right?

Greater than any fear she might ever feel, is a bubbling wrath building up in her gut. It rises up through her stomach, engulfing her heart with a fire that burns up the light threatening to drown her, it rushes through her veins and eats every inch of her body until she's nothing more than a raging inferno standing tall against the cold. Infinity Energy pools in her metal claw as Chromium steps up behind her, the platinum Metagross resonates with the stone nestled within her gauntlet as she points forwards with blazing eyes full of hate.

The light swallows them whole and forms a cocoon, it is the natural process of evolution that Xenon undergoes every second taken to its logical extreme. It cracks as the light solidifies within and pushes outwards, streams of energy pulsating outwards and filling everyone around her with that same hateful nature as they look upon the ancient being. As if shedding its skin, the Seviper's dark scales glittered before turning a spectral white. Like smoke, the TERASTALLIZED Pokemon drifted towards the legendary creature with its new GHOST-TYPE affinity, hurling a TERA BLAST towards it that howled with supernatural power.[break][break]

Elisabeth kept her eye on the POWER SPOT, waiting to see if this shift in energy would create any change in their circumstances.

This city was awe-inspiring. Howard could've spent several lifetimes studying it.

When he was an undergrad, Howard had once marched across the frozen wastes of Snowpoint City during a paleontological dig. There was a perfectly preserved Piloswine there, almost perfectly preserved in permafrost. Howard had lobotomized it for academic purposes with an ice pick, and the team marveled at its perfect preservation.

This city was like that, just on an entirely different level.

This ice was unique. Howard could feel it. This was true cold, ice that had likely existed for epochs within the deepest glaciers, preserving treasures that time otherwise would've desperately strived to reclaim. As Howard looked up at what sat in the center of it all, he saw a god.

No, not a god. A primordial obelisk to this planet's creation. A glorious monument to the world's most basic elements. The records of the world's existence. It was like fighting a mountain or a natural disaster. Several Pokemon represented the world, or were a manifestation of it. This? This was the land they stepped on. It was the wind that froze, the avalanche that crashed, the snow that fell, the ice that froze. It was the world.

And it raged.

"Shred." Howard's voice rang out from behind his helmet. Howard had seen only one Legendary Pokemon in his entire life: a mass of electrical energy in Ultra Plant. The dots on this one's face. They were similar. This was a walking piece of history. Howard turned to his colleague.

"We can't—"

Thud. A belt of Pokeballs landed at his feet. Howard frowned at it from behind his visor, before looking up at Shred. Understanding dawned.

"No."

"Well, I don't have a will ready, so..."

"Stop it."

"I'm leaving all my earthly possessions to you.

Stop it. "I don't want your shit!"

"That includes my Pokemon, my garden, and about 5000PD of assorted debt."

"Shred, for once in your life, stop caring about what OTHER PEOPLE THI-"

"I love you, Howard."

He sucked in breath. Please, stop it.

"Godspeed."

Shred Zeppelin ran. Howard Slayte watched, legs frozen, as his first friend from Team Rocket marched off to die. His legs shook. His teeth clattered and clenched. His missing eye burned in a freezing pain. He tried to take a step forward, but couldn't. He couldn't move. It would've been so easy to blame the ice freezing his bones, or the suit malfunctioning. Yet as he looked up at the Regice, feeding off its Power Spot, he knew it wasn't that.

Howard was afraid.

It was happening again. He was going to lose something important to him again. No, not something important. Someone.

Not this time. He had power now. He just had to reach for it. His legs trembled and froze. His feet were freezing.

Please, give me a drop of courage. Let me preserve this. This man belongs in the annuals of history. Let me make this happen. Let me protect this. Please.

Please, move.

MOVE!!!

He took a step forward.

"Shut the hell up." Howard spat at Kouji Matsubara as he reached down for Shred's belt and clasped it over his own. He then reached for a certain ball at his waist, holstered specifically due to its tremendous weight. He held it in his hand, and suddenly screamed. It was a loud, ferocious yell that glitched with static as the voice modulator in Howard's helmet overloaded. He tossed the ball.

SMASH! The Gigaton Ball cracked the frozen ice beneath it. The ball burst open.

GROAAAAAR! Doug let out a ferocious roar that echoed through the frozen city. It immediately began to glow with a red light.

Howard ran after Shred.

"YOU PIECE OF SHIT!" Howard slipped on some ice as he ran forward. Pain shot up his knee as he continued to scramble after him and his Mega-Beedrill. It hurt to run. It hurt to breathe in this cold. It hurt to live in this cold. Yet Howard had never felt warmer.

Confirm: Terastallization?

"HOW DARE YOU!" The Regice prepared to fire. "YOU WILL NOT DIE, SHRED. I WON'T ALLOW IT. AFTER ALL..."

Confirmed. Manifesting Fairy-type.

The Regice fired its blast towards the group. A bright red moon appeared over the city. The Ursaluna filled with the power of Tera Crystals. With a roar, it fired back with Blood Moon.

"WHO ELSE WILL TELL THE LEGEND OF SHRED ZEPPELIN?"

The strikes met, and the city trembled.

THE MORE THE REGICE IS WORN DOWN, the more exposed the POWER SPOT becomes. when it is no longer completely encased in ice, DYNERGY starts to leak. the resulting radiation causes several pokemon to DYNAMAX at once—a phenomenon unheard of outside of GALAR.

this abundance of supersized pokemon make the REGICE RUINS uncomfortably compact. but even that is enough enough to dissuade the conflict between the league and team rocket. beyond their personal grievances, a new objective spurs this conflict.

the defeated REGICE.

whittled to a fraction of its original size, the titan has completely separated from the POWER SPOT. much like the fragments found by Katherine Fairburne, skyler dross, and Adrian Malcolm, the REGICE’s main body now consist of a crystalized mass of ice. a treasure neither side can afford the other to grasp.

but there is much to be uncovered in pandemonium. what was the temple’s purpose? why did it resurface now?

it starts with the REGICE’s awakening. the temple that had continued to unfurl during the fight expands like a well kept dungeon. various rooms prop up under shifting walls, braille runes revealing a deep and rich history. however, these stories are erased as DYNAMAX pokemon are sent tumbling through brittle storyboards.

those wise enough to try and bargain a ceasefire will find that the very environment works against them. TERA CRYSTALS erupt from underneath, instigating renewed fervor to anyone willing to take their power. but they are not a boon meant to decide a victor.

they are a ticking time bomb.

these tunnels are an ANOMALY to hoenn soil. an invasive system that forces tectonic movements to rise and fall. the island is no exception. under the weight of DYNAMAX pokemon, and an unstable mantle, it too will submerge just as fast as it rose.
