A SWARM OF NOIVERN have taken roost in Rusturf Tunnel. Like bats, they crowd the ceilings of the cave, frightening commuters and trainers alike. To make matters worse, they become dangerous threats at night, using their ultrasonic waves to debilitate would be prey or targets.[break][break]

Perhaps, if you bring some fruit, they may take kindly to you—or even allow themselves to be caught![break][break]

Rusturf Tunnel is filled with a swarm of Noibats and Noiverns and since she knew the species well ever since she raised her Noivern from an egg bred from the Calcifet Draciary, had a hand in helping her raise Minerva from when she was a Noibat hatched from an egg. With her Noivern following her to the tunnel, Cormag the Noibat joins the pair of royal ambassador and her Noivern as he spots some of the Noibat chittering conversations with each other.[break][break]

The male Noibat looks back at the older female Noivern as Minerva nudges him to play with the others. He goes over to play a game of tag with them as the Galarian princess lets out a little giggle over how Cormag was doing in trying to tag the other wild Noibat. [break][break]

she'd thought, at first, to bring one of her applin to the swarm, but these sorts of things are usually incredibly hectic. she arrives on the back of her own noivern instead, with a pair of earmuffs over her ears. 

most of their soundwaves they use for echolocation aren't at a frequency that can bother humans, but their screeches certainly aren't pleasant. 

rather than an applin, she has a few juicy apples kept in a pouch. as the noivern and noibat start circling, she holds them up by the palm of her hands, keeping nevy close by and on watch in case things get too intense.

"Ain't your clan, but it's somethin', right?"[break][break]

She whispers to the Noivern, and her treasured pokemon purrs. There's no illusion. If Tsutsu can hear her, so can the rest of them. It's only her own dragon's fearsome size that's holding them back.[break][break]

"They ain't gonna listen to reason, but people gotta use this path. Can't camp out here and mug randos to make a living."[break][break]

She smirks. [break][break]

Who's she to say that, when she did exactly that back in Kanto? [break][break]

Well, she's grown up since then. Time for them to do the same.[break][break]

"Right, Tsutsu... it's time!"[break][break]

Baki leaps onto the dragon's back, and the draconic bat flaps her wings and sends up a shockwave that sends the entire flock fluttering down from the ceiling. A flurry of leathery wings and skittering shrieks in the dark, and the first salvo opens, a boomburst that shakes the foundation of the cave.[break][break]

"Let this be a lesson to you all: there's always a bigger fish!"[break][break]

There were a lot of ways that people tried to befriend Pokemon, from the obvious to the not so obvious. Feeding them fruits and Pokeblocks was an obvious one, but that was no way to properly link up with a dragon of the dark caverns like Noivern.

Xenon preferred to rock out with them instead. Polonium strums its bass strings and makes the cavern shake, Noiverns and Noibats alike screeching as dust falls from the ceiling from the sheer sonic rumbles echoing through the caves with every pluck of the strings. It was like taking the biggest speaker one could find, cranking the bass all the way down, then just letting it rock at full volume, that kind of bass that makes your bones shake and your brain vibrate in your skull, the kind of bass where you can't hear anything but the dull rumble of your eardrums, it was a sonic assault at its purest. And that's the kind of party that Xenon was throwing as she puts in her earplugs and waits for the swarm to clear out.

Walking into the tunnel with a lit soothsayer lamp swinging from its chain, Marilyn examined the darkened scenery while taking a large denture-wobbling bite of her favorite fruit; a plump and juicy tangerine, which led the acidic juices to drench her shaky palms. It had been decades since she had last passed through the rocky passage. More than five, to be exact- and she forgot just how extensive it had become, or perhaps it was just her legs being unable to traverse long distances. The last time her feet crushed the rocks below she was a mere child, traveling with her immediate family to attend an antique harvest festival. If only she was not the last left of the bunch, her bloodline preserved only through her severed marital tie.[break][break]

It would have made the moment much less lonely, though the Flutter Mane that seethed beside her on a leash did a good job of providing acquaintance in times like these. "They said the tunnel is filled with draconic bats which can crack boulders with their soundwaves, isn't that just so crazy, chum chum?" She giggled, locking eyes with those that appeared to glow, waiting for prey to wander further inside. "There they are now. Take the rest of my tangerine and offer it to them, perhaps they will let you dance with them! Not like you'd ever take no for an answer, little chum chum. Go."[break][break]

Citrus in its mouth, the paradox pokemon thrashed about once the offer was complete, taking on as many of the cavern dwellers that it could sense with its feelers after being released from the leash. It was the one way granny could get such a terrific beast to remain docile while wandering the lands of the new world- allowing it to mald and scorch all that stood in its path, one SHADOW BALL at a time. "Get em' while they're hot!" She smiled, leaning on the rocky wall.[break][break]

She loaded a pokeball into the end of her cane shotgun and blasted it into the fray just to see what would happen. Hell, she wouldn't complain if one of the Noivern or their young ended up inside. They could make a good means of transporting cargo, or a shatterer of ear drums if she ever needed to do so in the future. Dirty hands could only stay clean for so long.[break][break]

Cass has heard about the Noivern-Noibat problem, and has arrived at the crime scene ... or something like that. She carries a large basket with various fruits, but is also currently sorting out half of it. "Fruits do spoil faster than I thought ..." As a little treat for Jon, she's gotten into the habit of putting away some overripe fruit. As she's gotten ready to go to Rusturf Tunnel, she's realised she's running out of time to meet with her friends - who stood her up - and managed to mix together good and a-bit-too-good fruit together.

So now, she's walking, and also throwing fruit to Jon, her Trubbish, who's waddling next to her, and happily catches (or picks from the ground) any fruit that she considers borderline inedible. (She'd eat it, still, though.)

Eventually, the bowl's only filled with perfectly edible fruits, and she prepares herself for the swarm, just like others who have gathered. After a moment of consideration, she also calls for her Comfey Martin and her Tinkatuff Sona - just feeling a bit less intimidated by the rush of draconic energy about to come.

"So you like sweet stuff too, huh?" Reaching into her pocket with her spare hand, she pulls out a few more for this gluttonous creature.[break][break]

The tunnel reverberated with with the whisper of bats' wings, a hushed noise amplified to a deafening tone. Nenet watched with a certain satisfaction as the bat Pokemon failed to bump into one another, their movements fluid and mesmerising. Wishing briefly she'd brought a plate of fruit to tantalise one of the Pokemon over, Nenet tosses a pokeball into the fray and waits to see what happens.

The mulitude of dragon type Pokemon that had taken up residence within the tunnels passing beyond Rustboro were causing trouble, there was no telling if they'd been put off of their migration patterns or what, but one thing was for sure, they couldn't stick around.[break]
Multiple reports of the Noivern causing trouble, and even deafening travelers trying to get through with their speakers for ears threatening to bring down the tunnel walls from the inside was enough to try and get a handle on the situation. Many rangers and other civilian helpers had started the effort, and it was definitely going to take more than one person for sure. So Yuina was next on the roster to try and help the situation as she moved into the caves to try and see what could be done.

the noiverns and noibats are cute, though a little unruly...

she wonders, briefly, what kind of fruit they'd like. melon? apples? bananas? wait, does she even have any fruit on her?

no matter, perhaps. the closest one catches on the head of her shiny blacephalon and the funky clown jingles as it reaches to hold the noivern close enough for the head scientist to try to throw a pokeball at it.

there was something about bats. dozens circled her island home in the evenings and roosted in the tower she had built for them–perhaps as many as had swarmed there to rusturf tunnel, or more. she had even invented a calling device for them.[break][break]

perhaps it had once been their relationship with the night, and the darkness, and now, since darkrai’s leaving, that familiarity had simply stuck.[break][break]

having heard of the swarm, she arrived a little after dusk, approaching the mouth of the tunnel but not entering. instead, she placed a fig on a stone, and waited under the light of the moon.[break][break]

the obscuring shadows of the cave moved like shifting black velvet, studded with gleaming eyes. something within moved closer, and she smiled.[break][break]
