During war time it was important to find moments of peace and rest, without them civilians and soldiers a like would end up going insane. However for Arabella, she just took this as an opportunity to score some extra cash, prizes and food. It really wasn't easy rising so many rat kids, and the stress of having to keep them safe amongst all this chaos was starting to take a toll on her; that's perhaps why she found herself at this farm "fair" you can say.[break][break]

even more so, it was fun to see all the different numbers people were putting in, some played it safe and went for the middle, others went a bit higher, and some went lower, but for Arabella. She'd instead just put down the max size, you might as well go big or go home, and there wasn't any foul in losing, most participating got a consolation prize anyways. It was a win win.

While he and Cillian Quinn had gotten a house for themselves, it still wasn't entirely claimed enough for them to be comfortable doing things like cooking. He pauses to catch his breath and check his phone, just so by the booth. He's not intending to participate but the person running it flags him down.[break][break]

Oh, was that guess the size of the Pumpkaboo?! They played it here too?! With a small laugh of pure delight, the ranger hurried across the street to reach the booth and greeted the one behind it warmly, her face alight with joy. This little game had been one of the most beloved activities to celebrate the autumn in her hometown, and learning that it was also known in a whole other region made Oldale feel all the more like home. Hoenn had no shortage of rural settlements connected to nature — not to mention the stunning Fortree City, though it hadn't really been considered due to its size — and so Blossom had felt torn about where to live at first, but she knew now that she'd made the right choice. Or rather, she'd known already, as the town's shared garden was just perfect and she had been embraced by the tight-knit community in no time; but this confirmed it.

Blossom turned her head this way and that, then circled around the Pumpkaboo to look at it from behind. Despite her concentration, though, she was still smiling; she just couldn't seem to stop. She'd never been very good at this game, even back home, but that had never been the point. Remembering this, she laughed again and gave up her thorough inspection. This little guy looked to be about average size, and so her guesses were average too — with a slight lean towards higher numbers, if only to give the Pumpkaboo a confidence boost.

"Aren't you a sweetheart," she cooed, giving it a pat as she handed her paper slip in. "So well-behaved!" To her neighbor, she said, "Let me know if you need someone else to run the booth, yeah? he turns from the pumpkaboo and then back to his slip of paper. he isn't really good at approximating weight since looks can be deceiving, but there's no other way to do it.

guessing becomes the only way to play.

the games he plays always had a minuscule amount of luck involved, though they all have ways to play with the odds or minimize unwanted results. unfortunately, even if he did, bad luck always gets back to him.

giving in, he sighs as he writes down a number and submits it as his answer.

Hmm; they were close, but no cigar. Now there was another pumpkaboo to judge...

Makoto wasn't perfectly sure where they'd place this one - it was awfully small compared to the first one, but by how much?

It took a little bit of humming and hawing internally, before Makoto would finally settle upon some numbers for their next guess.

A guessing game? Guessing the size of the little Pumpkaboo that stood up on the stand... Guessing at something so simple seemed a lot easier than guessing at what the cosmic forces of the universe wanted out of her... So Yuina felt she'd give it a try.[break][break]
She wasn't necessarily familiar with the species as a whole, but if she had to venture a guess this one seemed a bit small perhaps, like she could hold it in her two hands and it would be just the right fit.[break]

okay, so they were about as good as this as they had been since they were little. which was to say, not much. they had severely underestimated the size of the pumpkaboo from before, and this one, sitting in front of them, seems a bit closer to what they had originally suspected. they hoped. it wasn't like their judgement was the greatest here, after all.

Cass chuckles as she's elbowed by Vespa Baskerville, and does the very same to her as well. "Don't come complaining to me if you got it right, but they just couldn't read it." However, neither of their guesses were the best, and a new pumpkin would be brought out ... interesting. It does seem smaller than the first one, so ...
