The statues were causing a ruckus. All around them, trainers fell prostrate before the stone statuettes. Their virtues extolled, they refused to stop once started. Lam frowns, glancing down at the shinx by his heels. “Only one way to fix this,” he says lightly, though the easygoingness doesn’t quite reach his eyes.[break][break]

Smash ‘em up!” Noodle takes the cue and lets out a yowl of enthusiasm. As he runs for one of the bird like statues (of course its its bird one) his tail begins to glow a bright, metallic silver. The sturdy lash of an IRON TAIL splits the statue into pieces. And as it crumbles, dazed and confused supplicants slowly rouse from their feverish stupor with shaking heads and foggy eyes.

One eye takes in the crude statues on display, shivers runnning down her spine at just how fervently they are worshipped. A dog, monkey and bird... Something in the back of her mind stirs, a faint memory of information shared after the incident. Three creatures spied by the crazed Megalopolans.[break][break]

Click goes the camera - Many eyes turn to her, glazed looks soon overflowing with anger at how one could interrupt their service. They begin to climb to their feet, to surge towards her, but everything has already fallen into place.[break][break]

Joltiks slip out of the shadows, coordinated in their movements as they launch an attack on the statues. Electricity, razor petals and violent vibrations raze the effigies. Until dust, until dirt, until there's nothing left of them. And with their destruction comes an instant effect, toxic chains slowly melting away as people collapse all around.[break][break]

Once she's certain that they won't reach out to grab her, Eris moves a little closer, kneeling down next to one of the trainers as she briefly looks them over. One hand taps away at her phone, the first number on the list dialled.[break][break]

"You here at Rusturf Tunnel? Found a few sick people. I'll look after them till you get here."[break][break]

Surely have words for her when he arrives.[break][break]

When the Toxic Chain infestation made it to Rusturf Tunnel, Thomas was compelled to investigate.

What he saw shocked him. Trainers and Pokemon in trance-like states, worshipping statues of three Pokemon he had never seen before. Thomas took a picture of the three statues, before the attacks began.

"Ripper, smash those statues!", Thomas ordered.

The hulking Scizor smashed at the statues, pulverizing them with a volley of Bullet Punches.

Cillian speaks derisively into the ROCKET COMMS as he kicks over a statue of some weird bird, shattering it.[break][break]

He doesn't expect it to free anyone. That's not his goal. No, the selfish aim of Cillian Quinn was to understand and exploit this strange behaviour for his own gain or, more importantly, that of Rocket.[break][break]

"W-What happened?"[break][break]

Cillian turns to the man who speaks, narrowing his eyes in suspicion and reaching for a pokeball at his belt. At the same time, the disoriented individual seemed to recognize exactly who he was standing off against. He pales, begins to plead.[break][break]

"I'm not here for you." Cillian waves a dismissive hand. "Stay out of my way."[break][break]

He doesn't have to ask twice.[break][break]

With the shattering of the STATUE, the nausea that had become so second-nature to Cillian when dealing with these TOXIC CHAIN adjacent effects seems to lessen. It's with renewed interest that he approaches a different one, this time delicately lifting the idol of a dog into his hands. Perhaps Rocket's SCIENTISTS could study this.

He was actually on the way to a certain greenette’s birthday party (hi ) when he decided to take a shortcut through the Rusturf Tunnel…

…only to realize he’d walked straight into a fucking nightmare out of one of those horror movies his partner loved to watch.

“Oh my god why are they flaying themselves—” he would hiss quietly before the belated realization hit him.

That some of the statues looked flayed, and had the hairs on the back of his neck all prickling before—

“Yeah, no, what the fuck is this?!” he would quietly screech, before the ugly, rolling feeling in his stomach would return.

Oh, come on! Not now! Not while he was headed over to—

He had to hold his breath while his Braviary flew ahead of him; fighting off the frenzied people who were acting all mesmerized that were trying to attack him.

This was getting really out of hand now!

Due to his panic, he didn’t realized his Braviary had smashed some of the statues closest to where he was fighting off the rabid, frenzied humans—

And oh my god, don’t get him started about the blood on the flayed, broken statues that were now rubble!


• have your character feel unnerved by the statues
• destroy the stone effigies/statues; doing so will free the trainers and their pokemon from their toxic chains. If your character already has the maximum of 20 mochi, they will only receive 3 mochi and will NOT TAKE UP A BONUS MOCHI SLOT.

Go to Rusturf Tunnel, they said. Learn about stones and stuff, they said. Yeah, or find creepy, weird statues and people worshipping them. Which, honestly? Knight was fine with that until he saw someone rip off their flesh to adorn a freshly-made (fleshly?) statue, and then his breakfast threatened to say hello again.[break][break]
Also, didn't it feel like those statues were watching them? Double creepy. Knight glanced at his friend and could tell she didn't want to hang around longer than necessary.[break][break]
"That's... We need to help them... Something isn't right with those statues." He murmured to Cass, hoping she hadn't seen that part of the ritual. Luckily he had Fitzwilliam with him and that 'mon knew some good smashing moves. [break][break]
Of course, a part of Knight would feel bad about smashing something that didn't belong to him but the more the looked around, the more he was seeing those toxic chains and he knew this was just a no good, terrible situation. He coughed a few times, a hacking wheeze that left him winded for a few seconds but if Cass worried, he threw up a hand to stop her.[break][break]
It was then, with zero hesitation, he whispered, "Fitz, use rock smash on that monkey statue. Let's see if this frees them."

A cult?! Out of all the things they'd seen in this patrol of poison and mayhem, that was by far the weirdest.
[break][break]
The sight of the three statues covered in purple, fleshy bits was very unnerving. That monkey especially was the thing of nightmares. And the cultists had the gall to pray to their simian god for success and pleasantries.

"There's nothing pleasant about any of this! Missy, destroy that statue!" Andrea ordered her Kangaskhan, who obliterated the primate effigy with a devastating Mega Punch.

With the other two statues intact, the brainwashed townspeople picked the rubble off the ground, and immediately started building a new one.

"Are you kidding me?!"

Thea hesitantly stepped through the tunnels with her friends and Pokémon, frowning deeply at the statues and the way everyone inside of that tunnel was behaving. Thea tried to communicate, but to no avail, nothing snapped them out of that for some reason. Clicking her tongue, she felt annoyed by it, but at the same time, she couldn't help but shudder at those statues... It almost felt like... They were looking at her. The fact the tunnels were kind of cramped only helped to make Thea more anxious, but she tried to stick close with her friends, to calm down her Claustrophobia.[break][break]

"Wh-Where is the kindness and mutual understanding in that, this is just mind control!" Thea hissed, clenching her fist. She hated seeing people being forced into something against their ill. Those Toxic Chains... They were certainly at a fault.[break][break]

"Kay, Cass. Stay close..." Thea asked, with her voice hinting a bit of fear... And noticing Knight was going for the Monkey Statues, and noticing that breaking them snapped some of the Trainers and Pokémon out of it, Thea decided to turn her attention to a Dog Statue.[break][break]

Thrusting her hand forward, she called for her Primeape: "Zeus! Break that statue!"[break][break]

Zeus charged in, but as he approached the Dog Statue with clear hostile intentions while charging a Rage Fist, the Trainers and Pokémon positioned themselves to counter attack. Gominha pushed herself in front of Belle, protectively with her inflated Wigglytuff body, letting out a soothing Sing, along with Belle that tried to keep herself covered behind her Pokémon-sister. With the Trainers and Pokémon asleep, it gave the opening Zeus needed to crush the statue with his fist.[break][break]

Biggest yikes. Cass just, simply, doesn't want to be here. However, her emotional range is actually caught somewhere between horror and apathy, as she caught a glimpse of what's going on with the Toxic Chained worshippers. It's ... she quickly looks away, only glancing at the statues. They creep her out big time.

Her heroic friends already have gone to town at the statues, but Cass ushers her pokémon closer to herself, having Martin settle on her shoulder while she's holding Jon tightly in her arms. "Let's just go. Let's go, Kay, Thea!" she says, urging her friends to just leave finally.

That's not her fight ... not her fight.

Nenet's Minior spun in place before darting forwards towards one of the statues. The sound of stone slamming into stone filled the air, pebbles going airborne from the impact as Minior continued forwards, slamming into another tiny statue.

A sense of unease welled up in Johanna as she looked at the statue from afar. The ‘monkey of success and pleasantries’ looked nothing like it, especially given the tranced worshippers that were all too busy focusing on it than those around them.

The longer she looked at the display of fanaticism the more unnerved she became. We should end this before it goes any further. Johanna thought before retrieving her Flutter Mane’s Pokéball. With a quick click the ghost fairy popped into existence.

“Destroy that statue with Power Gem.” Johanna whispered and the Flutter Mane went into action quickly. A Beam of red shot at the statue, breaking the rock and angering the worshippers. Or so Johanna had thought, but they seemed to be almost freed from a possession of sort instead, which bathed her in a sense of relief instead.

Hideo really hoped his Elgyem was lying about what those people were putting on those statues. Something already felt wrong about them, but if they were making people put that on them, there was nothing good about these statues.

And that strange feeling wasn't just the usual feeling he got from being around toxic chains.

Hideo took out the big guns - his Zangoose went straight at those statues with a Crush Claw, chipping away and breaking them. The statues' worshippers didn't take kindly to that - but that was the other reason Hideo had his Elgyem out. Weak and scared it might be, that little Pokemon could still knock a person out if it tried hard enough.

Hideo could only hope he intervened soon enough for these people to survive their harmful worshipping.

There was a peculiar feeling that came with looking at the statues that had been erected and venerated in the eyes; it provoked vicious thoughts, those which were ungodly in this hour. As they had been seemingly constructed by those who took the knee to worship the creatures depicted, perhaps they were the source of such poisonous, infectious carnage? But why would that be, and how.. when the depictions of these beasts, yet alone their existence, was not proven upon its emergence in the crystalline caverns beneath the swamp?[break][break]

Quite the slew of negative feelings boiled through her blood as she stared at them from afar, tucked behind a fallen rock in the tunnel; anger, sadness, turmoil, grief, it all had a place that was drawn out to exist simply by watching the heads bow and the flesh quiver upon the stone. Such beings did not deserve worship, let alone forced veneration, as the only church-goers were those who had been afflicted by the chain. She hated it more than anything, especially as they had been deprived of their true, free will.[break][break]

"Tia, Tamera," she spoke softly to the two mouse pokemon, hiding on their corresponding shoulders behind pink locks, ".. destroy the statues..! They do not know which they worship.."[break][break]

Yet, she did not know what they had worshipped either- another gross figment of the universe, she assumed. A face to place to the terrors brought to all the innocent souls, those which deserved nothing but love. Nervously holding hands, the Plusle and Minun released THUNDER in the direction of the statues.. toxic chains fell from the venerators, stones crumbled. But even with such ample effort, she knew deep down that nothing would be enough.[break][break]

How could it be, when there were three statues instead of just one?

Jack was repulsed by the monkey statue spattered with the gore of toxic chains. The people kneeling around it were fixated on the effigy, chanting and invoking the odd figure. Horrified, Jack recognized one of his neighbors from Verdanturf to be one of the transfixed worshippers. In spite of Jack's effort to rouse them, the continued on as if he was not even there.[break][break]

Enraged, Jack gestured violently at his Sirfetch'd. His anger did not abate even after the brutal swing of his pokemon's leek blade smashed apart the statue. His face thunderous, he helped the disoriented worshippers to their feet.
