The meteors were close...To close soon that beauty turned to horror, and if he didn't have complete faith in his Dragonite he might have panicked, but strong was his faith as they came to no harm. However his dance partner, turned Princess for the night soon departed going to check on the others. Amor saw the mist swirling around the ground, and some of it was in the air as well. Adonits came to perch on his shoulder, and they soon made their way to the ground in order to search for Kaida Adachi . However Amor didn't know if they would find her, this pink mist he hadn't heard the doctor's explanation of it, and so he landed right in the thick of it. It coiled, and swirled around him as he wandered through it, it was a vibrant place, and that is when he heard the voice.
"Oh hi there!" It was a small voice, but it was one that he recognized all to well, and he turned to see a boy with a pale complexion much like his own. Neck length silvery hair, and teal eyes with slitted pupils much like a cats, or snakes. He was dressed in a black turtle neck, and next to him was a Dratini that was coiled around him defensively, and Amor just looked at the sight before him his mouth slightly agape. "Hahahaha, you should see the look on your face! What are you surprised to see me? Well you shouldn't be, we're always around y'know?" The young boy stated to him. "I mean, we are you after all." the Younger Amor stated with a laugh, and a bright smile that didn't have the burdens of life placed on it.
"What is the meaning this?" He regarded this other concisely, and he looked to see that Draco didn't seem to be making a move against whatever this thing was in front of him. It was as if Draco wasn't worried which was odd, as the dragon was always protective of him.
"Oh come on! Don't be like that, I mean you're the one who should know the answer to that." The boy just kept smiling, and he lounged in the air as the Young Draco coiled around him keeping him afloat like he was some sort of bean bag chair. "Hey...What is it that you think you want?" The boy asked him curiously, those teal eyes seeming to stare straight into his soul. "I personally just want to be happy, to float along with Draco, and then pass the trials, and make Mom, and Dad proud. It would be kinda fun to travel the world wouldn't it?" Young Amor said with another smile, and giggled in a way that only a child could.
The question was something that Amor didn't know how to answer at the moment, he had lost track of Kaida, and he was now completely transfixed on the spectre in front of him. This had to be some sort of joke, how was his younger self here talking to him as if this was completely normal. It wasn't normal was it? He was on edge, after everything that had happened to him recently he didn't know if he could trust his own mind. For now until he could discover the true nature of this person in front of him, he would play along.
"I want power, I want the power to save those precious to me." He replied curtly, and continued to study the lazing boy with trepidation, this was some sort of trap, it had to be.
"Power huh? What does that mean though? When will you have that power? When you collect all ten badges? Or how about if become the Champion? Would you have that power then? If you attain a number of Legendary Pokemon will you have the power then? Or if you actually attain so much wealth that you could actually end world hunger with a swipe of the card? Would that be enough for you?" The questions were all very simple to ask, but Amor had no answer for his younger self.
If this was the thing called a mirror match then he very much didn't like it.
"If you're actually me, then you know why I want power, and the kind I want." He stated bluntly to the doppleganger, and he had to clench his fists to prevent his hands from trembling. "I want a second chance, I want to save them. Even you must understand this!" He spoke a little more forcefully than he had intended.
"Oh I know why you want it..." Young Amor laughed a little, and made eye contact with him. "But is that what they want you to do? Do you think they would be proud of the single minded pursuit you've been on? How you've devoted yourself to this cause, and nothing else." The boy tilted his head to the side as if confused at the sentiment that his older self was projecting. "What do you want?" He asked again curiosity dripping in his voice.
"I told you, I want power, to save them! It's what this is all for, every step, no matter how small, or how off the trail it might seem, is for that purpose." He answered again repeating the question, and this time the image of his younger self shifted within the mist, and in his place was a slightly taller boy, with longer hair, and dressed more professionally than his younger version.
"Power huh? Well that's rich, you were so helpless when they died, and you think you're stronger now? Pffft you're no better now than you were back then." The tone had changed from jovial, to a more cynical, and sneering cadence, as if this boy was looking down at everyone around him from a throne up on high. "You're an idiot, what would you even do if you got that power. The power to command time, would you go back, and ruin everything!? Do you know how many movies, and books talk about how bad of an idea that is! And yet you're sitting here telling me that you are willing to break the world in order to fulfill that selfish desire!" This Teenage Amor laughed at his older version. A Dragonair was at his side, and was glaring at him from behind his young charge.
"You're pretty sad, so much time has passed, and that is still what you're pining for, you have all the money anyone could want, and then some! Not to mention you're not entirely stupid when it comes to smarts, you just don't apply ti as often as you should. Tch, I can't believe we are even the same species. You disgust me." Teenage Amor glared at his older counterpart.
"Like you know anything, at best you have half my knowledge, and at worst you're as incompetent as you're claiming me to be. If we're suppose to be the same person then you have to know, and you have to understand, don't you!" Amor spoke loudly to his Teenage self, who just laughed in response.
"Jeez what happened to me, when did I become so soft? I mean if you were really me then you would have realized it by now. That you can't achieve what you want, not unless you make some hard choices...Tell me Amor. What would you give up for the power that you seek?" Teen Amor asked that condescending tone wafting through the air almost like it was part of the strange mist itself.
"Everything...I would give up everything for that power." He spoke before he thought about it, and Teen Amor, just smirked at him coldly as if he had expected that answer.
"Even Adontis?"
Amor wasn't the kind of man who could be easily shaken, but those simple words forced him to take a knee as he thought about the actual implications of what it was that he was saying. Was he that blind? Had he been that single-minded up to this point? He didn't ever think of sacrificing his Pokemon, but that isn't what he had answered, and it felt like someone had driven a knife into his heart, and twisted it hard.
"...." He had no words.
"Oh so you aren't willing to sacrifice everything, just some things huh? Well if that's the case, tell me. What is it that you want? What are your desires?" Teen Amor asked, but he was met with a harsh silence, and he laughed. "Man even though you aren't saying it, I can feel that stubbornness from here. Power to protect huh? The Power to save is what you're thinking, but now you're thinking about how to get it without any casualties. Because you didn't think that far ahead. Man for someone so smart, you're pretty stupid did you know that? I can't believe I share a gene pool with you." He sneered once more.
Then his visage shifted once more, and in front of him was a much older man, long silvery hair like strings of moonlight, wearing a black t-shirt, his face had a scar that ran down it, and there were undoubtedly more scars that ran across his body that were hidden from view.
"Well you did it...You succeeded in getting the power that you wanted so badly. To bad that even though you saved them every thing else went to hell." This version of Amor stated rather crudely.
"If you're suppose to represent the current me, you're doing a poor job." He said standing up, and looking at this version of himself.
"Oh kid...I'm not your present...I'm your future, that visage of power that you have in your mind. That's me, I am the YOU, that you wish you could be. I have the power you wish you had." and at those words he snapped his fingers, and the mist shifted, and behind the Future Amor there stood a dragon, with steel like plates, and glowing red eyes. It was shrouded in the mist, so it was hard to make out, but there was no mistaking it. The God of Time that he had sought after was being manifested right now by this man. "We did it, congratulations! We saved them, and in the process we learned why you don't go around tampering with those kinds of powers, but deep down you already knew that risk, didn't you!? Yet you still chose to do it! Because of some self assured form of egotism, about how it would just work out. Well it doesn't." Future Amor spat out at him.
"But you knew this, we both know however that this isn't a real fix, it's not the real problem. So tell me. What do you want? And I swear to Arceus if you spout that power nonsense I will plant my thousand dollar boots across your cheek, and make sure you get a thorough make out session with the ground. Answer me honestly, because my friend here doesn't like being lied to." Amor just listened, and he stared up at the pair. Draco was missing from his side now, and he wondered if he had caused his friend to die.
"I..." He choked on the words for a moment as he really thought about what it was that he wanted. Why did he want to save them so badly, and he just let a few tears fall from his cheeks to the misty ground. "I think...I just want to be happy..." He stated pathetically, and his Future Self just laughed, walking up to him, and patting him on the head like he was a child, and it seemed like he was at the moment.
"Money can't buy happiness...Bringing back the dead won't help either...You have to figure out what that means, but I'm glad you figured it out, and answered honestly. If you get this power that you have sought after for so long, understand. Changing what is done, is no better than breaking a concrete slab, but...I think you're smart enough to know that. Give them a hug for me, but remember that is all, you can look, but never touch. That is the curse, and burden of this power." Future Amor stated, and then just as suddenly as he had been there he was gone, and he was replaced with the shadows of two people deeper in the mist.
Without thinking Amor began to make his way deeper into the mist to find the ones that he wanted to see.
