Excavator's Expedition!

[nospaces] [attr="class","omgen"] [attr="class","omgentop"]EXCAVATOR'S EXPEDITION  [attr="class","omgenmid"] MORE ROLLS THAN A BAKERY YO SCHEDULED END: ... February? SEALING THE DEAL
Chaos ran amok as steel, fangs and claw erupted, a cacophony of pokémon striking at one another and trainers' commands, as the wild snakes and landsharks had found the Expedition far too disruptive for their liking, seeing to it themselves to drive out the disturbance![break][break]
As the youngest of the Expedition, Eris Halla and Hideo Kino ran hand in hand towards the Instructor Perrserker in hopes of safety, Eris' Togekiss launching Aura Spheres to keep the Gible at bay, and Hideo's Lycanroc intercepting a Garchomp that had managed to break through with a well-timed Accelerock, in the chaos the two manage to find a small opening to hide within, led by Eris![break][break]
The small opening had however, seemed to be occupied by a group of Electrode! Whom, thankfully had been asleep, and before the two children could disturb them, Hideo's Lycanroc and Togekiss had ushered them away, to continue making a break for it from the swarm.[break][break]
Similar incidents had been averted in a familiar manner, Dominic Grey noticing skyler dross about to take a wrong turn and correcting her course, and Amber Lenoir being prevented from splitting off from the rest of the group by Locke Jamison![break][break]
The pack of Gible, Gabite and Garchomp had overall seemed to be intimidated back quite a fair amount by Alexei Ivanov's Salamence's INTIMIDATION tactics, a barrage of Icicle Spears hailing upon the dragon horde, with one final stray rock that had been smacked away by an Eevee's Copycat Iron Head knocking out a Gible, the wild dragons seemed to relent, picking up their fallen to quickly escape into the darkness.[break][break]
The Steelix however, being far larger and bulkier, seemed to take quite a lot more effort than the dragon pokémon, despite the latter's notoriety for their offensive force, seemingly hellbent to drive the Expedition out! Yet a blur of red as a Brick Break struck one, a sudden psychic shock that had come from seemingly nowhere, and an overall collective force to wear down or fight back against the horde of steel snakes had slowly pushed them to a grinding halt! Adrian Malcolm's Sableye had even managed to sneak a quick snack on some of the same glassy spheres that decorated the caverns from within a Steelix's iron scute![break][break]
It was the combined efforts of Dominic Grey's newly evolved Mudsdale, an Anchor Shot from a Dhelmise—with the target Steelix held down by a well-timed Imprison—and the powerful jaws of a Tyrantrum crunching down on a Steelix and swinging it back and forth before throwing it back to the rest of the swarm that had eventually deterred the giant beasts, their anger and ire slowly dissolving as they began to realise that these trainers were clearly not a force they could tackle.[break][break]
Though despite Cillian Quinn's brave insistence to stand and fight, a familiar face had happened upon the trio of Cillian Quinn, Tempest Quinn and bryan delarosa, the young Galarian girl running up to them—and despite the chaos around them—politely asking with a smile, "we're heading deeper into the cave! Can you three come along? We can find more the way we're going anyway!" she'd explained, though before the three could answer, she'd zoomed off to help any other stragglers to stick with the group amidst the swarm![break][break]
While most of the swarm's resolve had been broken, a few stragglers continued to attack, dealt swiftly with by angelo vestri, skyler dross, francie myrtle, and Amber Lenoir, with a bit of a brutal addition from Athanasios Valentine' Gardevoir showing no mercy and utilising a Steelix as a far too oversized pickaxe, a glimmering shining stone dislodged from the wall by the devastating Psychic attack! The few remaining who dared to continue fighting were promptly walled off and forced to stop by a well-timed Light Screen from paxton concordas and then sealed off by the Champion kyle lopez's Smeargle! Blazing hot spears of stone bursting violently from the cavern floor, the sheer force of the heat forcing back the Steelix. The prior Light Screen had managed to hold back the blazing force from these blades of molten magma, if only enough that the sweltering heat had been softened to a more mild disturbance for the expedition force![break][break]
Cat had breathed a sigh of relief, seeing that the Expedition party had made it out mostly unscathed, "is everyone alright? Erm, I should do a head count..." her voice had trailed, the area of the cavern they were in rather dimly lit to the point that the Expedition could see quite easily where the young instructor had been looking towards, guided by the shining light of her headlamp as she counted, interrupted only by a quick and soft "sorry!" for those she may have accidentally shone her light directly in the eyes of.[break][break]
At some point, a mixture of skyler dross's Starmie's Illuminate and the combined light of everyone else's lamps, torches and the aid of any pokémon seemed to light up the area, light reflecting off the shining and sparkling glassy spheres that dotted the floors, walls and roofs of the cavern. Concern and worry had struck across the young instructor's face, recounting quickly as it seemed they were missing a couple of people.[break][break]
A quick tug at her pants leg from her Perrserker had directed her attention to a Cinccino scratching at a pile of stones that clearly seemed like they'd been disturbed recently, with the Perrserker helping to dig away at the stones carefully with a Metal Claw. The instructor had put two and two together, "oh! Please stand away everyone!" she'd made sure to shout quite literally as she threw a poké ball out, a far too familiar face to the expedition having been released from the ball in the form of another Steelix. The Perrserker had looked to his trainer with a deadpan look and sighed, meowling something at the Steelix to fill it in on the situation before the giant steel snake had began to Dig through the stone with ease.[break][break]
Matilda Greenlaw and Martín del Mar would have found that the chaos had calmed down enough after the surprise cave-in that things had gone quiet, though whatever time they'd managed to spend had been interrupted rather abruptly by the sound of crumbling stone, and a face that surely would have been the last thing they'd have wanted to see. Only for the giant danger worm to seemingly smile at them—whether that eased their worries or was a cause for further concern—before seeming to retreat, shortly replaced by a familiar voice and kinder face.[break][break]
Cat had poked her head through the newfound hole, "are you two alright?!" she'd asked worriedly!
A MYSTERIOUS MESSAGE
After the recent ordeal, the expedition had been given a chance to take a proper break, whether they'd want to continue digging or take a break to catch their breathes, it was rather apparent that there were more treasures in this new area, the same glassy gemstones coming in a variety of sizes far too large to reasonably try to take with the expedition as they venture further, but most certainly also large enough to make a good seat for those that may want one in this temporary haven.[break][break]
Nonetheless, it was an unlikely trio that had made the next... unique discovery, Thomas Benoit, Cillian Quinn and angelo vestri seeming to have reached the same spot in their scavenges, a strangely flat surface jutting out from the wall, as light shone upon it, it was far too apparent that whatever it was, it clearly wasn't natural. A slab of some sort adorned on the wall, an ancient yet possibly familiar language chiselled into the earthen plate.[break][break]
The three that had chanced upon it first are the only ones that had been given enough time to decipher the message, whether they were successful or not, a loud CRACK splintered the earthen plate in two before it had shattered into dust and pieces. Whatever the message was, it seemed that now had been the only chance to see it, as the pieces of rubble that littered the floor had been far too numerous to piece together in a timely manner at this point. Though, for those that could manage to decipher the message, it begs to question one haunting detail....[break][break]
What was this mysterious warning for?
—CLAUSTROPHOBIA THALASSOPHOBIA—
At some point in time the young Galarian girl had wandered off from the group, explaining that she'd be scouting ahead and wouldn't be long, leaving Björn in charge, and as promised, she hadn't taken long before coming back, taking about five minutes before she'd done so. However she'd come back with a bit of a nervous smile, as if the news she'd had for the expeditionary force wasn't going to be pleasant. The more observant may have noticed that she'd been drenched from head to toe.[break][break]
"So... good news, there's a way forward. Bad news... well, there's a bit of crawling and then some very light swimming involved, like, 5 seconds at most but... yeah. All the equipment we provided is water proof but, if you have anything on you that you may have sneaked in that you don't want damaged by water, now might be a good time to declare it! I've got a waterproof case on hand just in case that can fit a bit more in it!" she'd explained with a smile, seeming to be unsure how the group would take it.[break][break]
Nonetheless, the heat from the earlier Precipice Blades had yet to cool off, so turning back hadn't been much of an option, it seemed pressing forward and finding more relics and treasures was the way to go![break][break]
As Cat had described, the Expedition had been led to a dead end, save for a single hole in the wall, just large enough to barely fit the adults of the expedition. She'd made sure to warn everyone to find the mask in their packs, as breathing in the fine dust in such a tightly enclosed space might prove unhealthy, before going through the hole in the wall first, leaving behind Björn to supervise the rest of the expedition from behind while she helped pull through those that may have trouble underwater to the other side from ahead, with her Flareon awaiting at the water's edge to help dry people off. To help assist the team, the young Galarian girl had tied a rope back that led through the crawl space, to make it easier for those that may have trouble crawling through or may have trouble with the brief swim required.[break][break]
Regardless of how reluctant some may have been, ultimately the expedition would continue, or at least, Cat had seemed rather excited to continue pushing forward, and learned enough to gauge that they'd be able to handle it.[break][break]
However, it'd be Alexei Ivanov (I'm so sorry, you literally matched the first number needed cuz Hideo got the cancelled out event so I couldn't count his number for this one) who'd noticed, as they'd managed to pull themselves through the crawlspace and reluctantly dive down into the water, while others may have noticed first that the water pooled here had been salt water, it was Alexei who'd figured out just where the water was coming from. A small opening at the very bottom of the pool, thankfully thin enough that nobody would be falling through it or nothing would come out from it. Yet looking closer at the small opening, Alexei had noticed a shimmer of light pass by, followed by another, and even more, the haunting chill of the sound of something akin to children's laughter underwater. Had Alexei panicked, he'd have quickly been grabbed and pulled up to the surface by the young instructor.[break][break]
Following Alexei, the next ones to notice the strange event had been boruta maher and paxton concordas, followed by anyone else who'd been sharp enough to see it. For those who'd been particularly clever or well-versed in water pokémon, they may have realised the lights to have been those of a Chinchou! Furthermore, those that may have understood a Chinchou's more typical natural habitat was deep in the abyssopelagic zone, with some sightings even in the hadal zones in Hoenn's waters... it would be easy to surmise that this small pool of sea water seemed to be connected to the deep depths below.[break][break]
Yet not everything's so bad! Of those that noticed, and especially were brave enough, some may have noticed a handful of Thunder Stones lining the very bottom, dancing along the thin opening, far too bulky to fit through, seeming to have been worn down from the earth that once held them. It'd be easy to grab one or two if you dared![break][break]
On the other side, the promised warmth and drying from a Flareon awaited, and obviously more importantly, more treasures to behold! The new area a large open expanse—beyond the cave roof containing it—the cavern shining similarly as new light was introduced by the expedition, light reflecting off gems and treasures just waiting to be unearthed!
