It was difficult to understand what was going on; this wasn’t a place he was familiar with. He’d just been by the border of a lake, then there was a bright light - and now the endless sea was before him. He landed in the water with a splash, doing his best to keep himself above the waves and try to find out where the heck he was. The whole area had a strange purple tint to it - an unsettling look.
But just as he got his bearings, strange creatures began showing up. They didn’t look like they had any way to swim on their own - not without the aid of Pokemon that accompanied them. He could hear them speak, a few looking at him. One took out a strange spherical object and tossed it at him.
He didn’t know why, but looking at these strange creatures, looking at that strange object, just set something
off in his mind - that these creatures were here to harm him, and he had to fight back. Just as the sphere got close, he swatted it away, leaving it to sink into the water.
The strange creature shouting something, and soon, the Pokemon that accompanied it spat something out at him. The attack hit him - it was something cold, hard, rough. His aggression melted away as a new thought dominated his head: get away.
He dove into the water, putting all his strength into getting as far away as possible from these strange creatures and their strange spheres and cold attacks. He could hear them shouting something, but he just focused on escaping this danger. He kept swimming as long as he could, even as the purple tint went away, even as the muffled sounds of chaos died out.
Only once there was true silence did he re-emerge. He found himself away from all the fighting - he could even see a strange purple sphere in the distance that Pokemon seemed to be converging onto.
And then in an instant, it was gone. As if it had never been there in the first place.
Yet after his quick check, he went back to swimming - where he was headed, he didn’t know, but he surely going in once direction would lead to something.
----------------
It took a lot longer than he’d expected.
The light in the sky was almost gone. He’d found land, but his body ached all over, and his stomach begged him for food. He didn’t know where to look first, but at the very least, he could rest. He left the water, his soft body touching upon sand - coarse, rough, and it was getting everywhere.
Yet beyond the salty sea water, he smelled something…good. He let his nose guide him, out of the sand and onto a small cliff.
There, he saw a strange sight: it was another one of those strange creatures, accompanied by what seemed to be a Pokemon trying its best to look like a different strange creature - though it was obvious it wasn’t. The only strange creatures he’d encountered had attacked him, but this once seemed to be eating something by a small fire.
It only looked like those two were there. If they attacked him, he’d have a better shot at defending himself.
Though battle wasn’t going to fill his stomach. He approached, and the Pokemon seemed to take notice to his approach. He heard a voice: “
{What are you here for?}” it asked, coming straight from his head. It didn’t sound angry, like it was going to hurt him.
So he answered it. “
{I-I just want food.}” he shakily said, drawing the attention of the strange creature.
“Is that a Goodra?” it asked, a voice brimming with curiosity rather than anger or rage. “I didn’t know there were any here.”
“
{I’m not- I just-}”
“
{He can’t understand you,}” the voice brusquely interrupted. “
{Humans can’t understand Pokespeak.}”
He slowly approached, the warmth of the fire reaching him. “
{Humans? This creature is called a Humans?}”
“
{A single one is called a ‘human’. Do you not know what they are?}”
“
{No.}” He looked over the strange ‘human’, noticing it looked a good deal smaller than the ones that attacked him. And it certainly didn’t look angry. “
{It looks weird.}”
The small human raised up some cooked meat, the delightful odor reaching him quickly. “I dunno what a Goodra is doing all the way out here, but you must be hungry! Here, you can have some!”
There was a brief pause as he weighed the risk of approaching any further - and his empty stomach proved to be a very heavy weight. He took the offered food, biting into it - and the taste was absolutely
delightful! He devoured it completely - even the bones.
It wasn’t much, but it helped calm his stomach - and it was the first kindness he’d encountered since he’d fallen into that ocean. Even if this “human” couldn’t understand him, he’d express his gratitude in a more universal way:
He reached over and wrapped his arms around the human, bringing it close for a nice, wet hug. And he found holding this creature felt nice: it was warm, soft, pleasant. The one thing he knew for sure in this strange new place was that he liked it.
He could stay with it for a bit.
