[nospaces] [attr="class","omgen"] [attr="class","omgentop"]CHASE FOR THE SILPH CUP [attr="class","omgenmid"] MAUVILLE CITY MEMBER-LED EVENT STARTS MID-OCTOBER ENDS TBD DECEMBER [player]https://fi.zophar.net/soundfiles/nintendo-gamecube-gcn/f-zero-gx/224a%20-%20ZEN%20%28Aeropolis%29.mp3[/player] 🎼 THEME SONG - ZEN - F-ZERO GX OFFICIAL SOUNDTRACK MAUVILLE CITY [break] Multiplex [break] Difficulty: ★★★★☆☆[break] COURSE RECORD: 04'17"208[break][break]DRIFTIN' THROUGH ON MAX THE C-SHAPED CURVE was often make or break for challengers of Mauville City Gym unfortunate enough to draw the Multiplex as their course, and it was easy to see why. There were many ways as to handle the wicked turn, and each came with their own risks. Among the participants taking the greatest risk was Elinor Anderson , whose STEELIX started grinding its metallic edges against the course's surface with in preparation to slide around the inside of the second and third curves. The giant, golden snake threatened to overtake Kaida Adachi 's ONIX, and they would not have it. Both snakes had to raise the ends of their tails to avoid crashing into the fourth corners. Elinor's exit was a little late, having to make an adjustment to avoid slamming into the inside wall on the way out. That opened the door for Kaida's perfect exit to send them screaming past Toshiaki Macallan , Alexei Ivanov , and Gwyar Wledig . While their approaches got them smoothly through the curve, the ARCANINE's FLAMETHROWER and the RAPIDASH's PSYCHIC and STOMPing hooves a strong showing against any other opponents, the sheer speed at which the ONIX slid ahead forced them to yield or be run over.[break][break]
Isaac Merlo WAS FORCED TO HOLD ON FOR HIS LIFE as his TAUROS lashed his trio of tails at himself mid-SWAGGER, the casters in the skybox applauding him for the immense strength needed to not be launched off his mount. While it could have been painful for the Pokémon's rider, his gambit worked! His anger not only let him exceed his normal turning capabilities, but it drove him to an all-out sprint, overtaking MATIAS SILPH and his DODRIO by a significant margin and netting him the lead! That lead wouldn't go unchallenged, though: Raziel Beckett and his METAGROSS were in hot pursuit, their renewed magnetic field tilting them just enough in each direction to crest all four corners and leave he and Isaac Merlo in an intense battle for the lead![break][break]
THE BIG ONE THE BACK HALF OF THE PACK had separated from the front half so much that it was almost like two separate races, the eighth-place Elinor Anderson and the ninth-place Julia Davis separated by over a full second. While they didn't have to deal with the full power of the rumbling STEELIX and ONIX, the trails they left made navigating the C-shaped turn even more difficult than it needed to be. nicodemus unken 's steady and slow approach, which was far from slow, was the right call. He caught a glimpse of MATIAS SILPH and his DODRIO colliding with the curves's outside wall as a direct result of being unable to turn tightly enough mid-AGILITY. Thankfully for them, the impact was at an angle rather than head-on or broadside. Those unfortunate fates befell Matt Vice and Josh Devlin , respectively. [break][break]
Josh Devlin 's MANECTRIC had difficulty balancing the electric charge in its legs to levitate off the ground, and lost focus on the course ahead. By the time the MAGNET RISE was successful, not even a full strength right-rein pull from the rider would prevent a broadside impact with the far wall. Had those walls not been dual foam-layered, the Mauville Gym Leader could easily have found himself leaving the course via stretcher from the crunched leg that was prevented due to the Federation's stringent safety code. While he was able to recover and get his Pokémon back up to speed, Eva Morales and kyle lopez were threatening to pass him for eleventh place![break][break]
Matt Vice 's BLUNDER WAS WORST OF ALL; his ARCANINE initiating EXTREME SPEED could not have been timed worse. A large section of the gallery gasped, the announcers in the skybox confused. Perhaps his overconfidence in the training he had recently completed led to the decision, but there was no doubt the head-on collision at the fastest speeds an ordinary Pokémon was capable of would leave both of them reeling. Badly. The gear he and the fire-type was all that kept him from being sent flying by the whiplash-inducing deceleration.[break][break]
LAP 2 - OBSTACLE 3 PROMPT: After the brutal series of turns, the course gave its racers a break. A long straightaway that gently sloped uphill stretched for a great distance, giving purely fast Pokémon room to sprint with all they had. Straight did not mean straightforward; far from it! At its start and end, there were brief patches where the track was only wide enough for two Pokémon to run alongside one another. Between the two narrow points, the long straightaway was littered with long strips of gravel, and there was no one straight line that would avoid all of it. While the hazard would have little effect on Pokémon that could handle rough terrain well, other Pokémon might be better off weaving around it![break][break]
TARGET NUMBER 1: 120 (Endurance or Reaction, whichever is better)[break][break]
SPECIAL (both): Boosting does not impose disadvantage on this Obstacle. Any TP loss as a result of a Pokémon rolling beneath the Target Number is multiplied by 1.5.[break][break]
