[nospaces] [attr="class","omgen"] [attr="class","omgentop"]CHASE FOR THE SILPH CUP [attr="class","omgenmid"] FORTREE CITY MEMBER-LED EVENT STARTS MARCH 6 ENDS LATE MAY [player]https://fi.zophar.net/soundfiles/nintendo-gamecube-gcn/f-zero-gx/210b%20-%20One%20Ahead%20System%20%28Cosmo%20Terminal%29.mp3[/player] NEW THEME SONG! One Ahead System (FINAL LAP) - F-ZERO GX OFFICIAL SOUNDTRACK FORTREE CITY[break] Ordeal[break] Difficulty: ★★★★★☆[break] COURSE RECORD: 05'36"690[break][break] THE BIG CRASH! IN THE WORLD OF RACING, a chicane is a turn that is designed to cause racers to crash. Whether driving a vehicle or riding on a Pokémon, they were the most feared turns in the sport. For Pokémon that were incapable of easily hovering, it was a nightmare. Avian Pokémon and others that needed to maintain a minimum speed to produce lift struggled the most with the dizzying, back-and-forth turns. [break][break]
IN A DARING MOVE, the two GYARADOS directed by @elio and Andrea Vaneau hurtled toward the backstretch's most treacherous twists, refusing to put on the brakes. As they rounded the first corner alongside one another, the blue and red serpents became entangled in their effort to pass MATIAS SILPH and his DRAGONITE, who just barely managed to avoid the disaster the different-colored pair caused. The two Gyarados not only dragged each other to the ground, but created a massive traffic jam for those unfortunate enough to have lost lots of altitude. The pileup forced Elise Calcifet and her NOIVERN, as well as El Sunderland , SONIKKU, and their TOGEKISS to slam on the brakes, nearly stalling their mounts from how quickly they were forced to ascend to make it past the entwined Pokémon. With some amazing piloting that showcased the level of the bond Andrea Vaneau had with her SHINY GYARADOS, she and her Pokémon managed to break loose from @elio 's GYARADOS, who crashed through the forest. Wooden shrapnel rained about the duo from all directions, Fortree Gym's medical team on task as fast as humanly possible. Miraculously, @elio and his Pokémon suffered no injuries, but they were IN NO CONDITION TO RETURN TO THE RACE.[break][break] THE PILEUP AND TRAFFIC JAM effectively split the race in two: SONIKKU was almost two seconds behind Julia Davis , whose surge in position was enabled by her SALAMENCE swallowing their pride and slowing down through the deadly curves. oscar clayton had the right idea; by ordering his BEEDRILL to completely halt one pair of wings, he could crest each turn perfectly, provided he had the strength to withstand what would be vomit-inducing turns for most. The loss of thrust took some time to recover from, though, which let Julia Davis catch up and battle the bug down the next straightaway! MATIAS SILPH and his DRAGONITE weren't far behind, either, and had a long stretch to take advantage of his Pokémon's high speed, too![break][break]
EVEN THE TALONFLAME PILOTED BY kyle lopez and lam logan , some of the most improved racers in the offseason, had some trouble slowing down. Their high rate of speed entering the curves forced them to bank almost perpendicular to the ground. alec foster 's calculations were perfect, his DRAGONITE's TERASTAL BODY shattering just as they exited the second curve. He would never have been able to pass lam logan for FOURTH POSITION without the extra turning capability the exhibit of the phenomenon offered. The Top Champion's SHADOW TALONFLAME brushed against a few tree limbs, downing them and sapping precious speed that allowed Josh Devlin and his DRAGONAIR to catch up exiting the second sharp curve, the two dueling for the lead as they barreled down the narrow home stretch. Alexei Ivanov and his SALAMENCE followed close behind, getting a good look at the interval between the dueling Champion and Gym Leader as it flashed on the monitor spanning the starting arch: five-thousandths of a second.[break][break]
A LOUD CHEER FILLED FORTREE GYM as the MC waved the white flag. With only one more lap left in the race, the action was about to get much more intense for the twelve racers left in the field![break][break]
FINAL LAP | OBSTACLE 1
Prompt: If trying to navigate through the wind tunnel from the second lap wasn't stressful enough, the curve after it was! After a substantial descent that would raise the speed of every Pokémon left in the race, competitors would have little time to react to a right-angle left turn! Those whose reactions were insufficiently sharp would find their mounts' feet, talons, or tails scraping the ground, forcing them to land and take off again as the course rose in altitude![break][break]
