the aftermath of meteno falls hard and fast on the ranger populace as several of them gather together to either clean up the mess left by the meteor's impact. they assist in their respective cities, either by cleaning debris, freeing trapped pokemon, or whatever it is that the civilians need. however, in the midst of all the chaos, several of them are also sent on expeditions to explore the rifts that have opened up as a result of their torn realm.

[break][break] in MID-MARCH, there is a call from the head rangers for all available rangers to gather and discuss the events currently threatening hoenn's peace.

just like last time, bring food! i'm bringing burgers.

[break] EVERGRANDE'S RANGER HQ's meeting room is at the building's top most floor, past all the official offices of other league personnel. you need to swipe your badge to enter, one that ollie morales has given you access for.

[break][break] upon entering, there is something decidingly more serious about this meet-up than last time. it's in the evergrande hq, after all. a long steel table sits in the center of the room with office chairs stacked accordingly. several glass windows on either side look out over the city and the ocean beyond; it has to be nice to work here.

[break][break] the conference room is larger than most, more able to adequately seat all the rangers that arrive to the summit. ollie waves you in, grinning, and pointing towards a stack of burgers that sit in the center of the table. there is also other food - including tacos from a local vendor, and even drink refreshments.

[break][break] swipe your ranger id when you enter, so an automatic tally can be calculated for every participant!

[break] at separate corners of the room, you can see one brooding Laurence Anderson and a much quieter Razz Kingsman . what's up with the two of them? even more interestingly, where the hell is annalise henderson ?

It seemed silly to willingly walk back into this viper pit, where previously people had belittled his concerns, insulted him, and told him he was being self-centered for worrying about and defending his people. But the responsibility was a new thing for him, and he would be loathe to cast it aside for some dents in his armor.

Last time, he’d been fresh off the horrors of his Cyberspace hell-crawl. Now he was older, wiser, and slightly more tempered.

Last time, he’d slaved making empanadas of seven different flavors over the days prior.

Now he just set his boxes of coffee shop hot cocoa on the food table. Less nervous, more subdued.

He gives ollie morales a small smile and moves to take his seat nearish Laurence Anderson .

Another Ranger meeting? With Razz Kingsman present? Lovely. Josh still wasn't the fondest of the Silph Ranger, but the feelings of enmity and animosity had largely subsided with the passage of time. He had to be there, though; he was Mauville's second-in-command under Captain annalise henderson ! When the email went out, Josh began searching for Unovan restaurants in Ever Grande City that could cater. As he was searching, the Gym Leader realized one slight problem:

Unlike last time, Josh would be footing the bill himself.

With budget actually being a concern, Josh had to audible to something lazy, cheaper, and something substantially less healthy at that: dessert in the form of baked goods. He genuinely loved Unovan cuisine, but for the size of the crowd at the last meeting, it would just be too high-budget. Based on last year's attendance, he picked up a grab bag of sweet treats from a highly-rated bakery on the north side of town, then headed to ollie morales 's Ranger HQ astride Raikiri, Braver carrying the food. When he arrived, Josh recalled his team and loaded all the baked goods onto a cart.

Wow, this office was huge! It was way bigger than the one in Lilycove; there would even be enough room for Raikiri to be out of his Poké Ball. They must have been expecting huge attendance numbers. Did Josh buy enough? He caught both Razz and the Head Ranger making preparations and greeted Razz Kingsman with a polite "Hello there, Razz," before he and Raikiri walked toward the other corner and made a similar greeting to Laurence Anderson . "Thanks again for all the help with the hurricane. South Ever Grande looks good as new now!"

tl;dr:

- Josh arrives next to Raikiri, his ride-trained Zeraora that moves like a quadrupedal cat than a biped. He is in his blue Elite Ranger uniform.
- Josh brought a variety of baked goods from a highly-rated bakery in town. Feel free to make up what you take from him! There can be cookies, danish, pastries, mini-cakes, and the like!

Finally a Ranger meeting she didn’t have to teleport to. It was a blessing. But blessings quickly turned into curses as her assistant accidentally double booked.

Which was why when she arrived at the Ranger meeting. She had run over there resulting in her being out of breath, still in her gray business suit, and carrying at least three big backs of a random assortment of menu items (children menu included) from the nearest Junk Food restaurant, because once again food being brought had been requested.

More than once on the way there did the thought cross her. Why didn’t they just order the bloody food themselves…

But as she came into the room not a single sign of that annoyance was to be found on her face, instead she had plastered upon it a professional smile, even through the small hints of tiredness she was experiencing.

She quickly found her way to the table, noticing the already large assortment of food, and wondering why they were supposed to bring something. For a brief moment, the truly observant might notice some annoyance in her gaze. But it quickly faded again as she made her way over to the nearest available spot near Laurence Anderson.

She gave the trio plus Josh Devlin a light greeting wave as she took a place, and prayed nobody would bring pie this time.

Nikolaj had missed the previous meeting of all the Rangers in Hoenn and would have missed this one, too, had saskia volosenkova not convinced him. Whereas he was reluctant to interact with others, she possessed an immensely curious mind and an excitement to involve herself. And it would be such a bad look for his daughter to attend, dutiful, while he avoided showing his face.[break][break]

So they collaborated on a dish to bring, settling on baked puff pastries filled with cheese, meat, and potatoes. A dish from Nikolaj's own childhood, he'd taught Saskia how to make them too. The evening spent baking them and bonding was worth the effort.[break][break]

Now Nikolaj walked into the conference room at Ever Grande City, looking completely out of place in his old hoodie and woodsman's jacket. He eyed every single person already there, recognizing the Head Ranger Laurence Anderson for who he was and Councilwoman Elinor Anderson simply because Nikolaj had seen her on the news from time to time.[break][break]

But he said nothing to any of them. Instead, he made a beeline for the food table to drop off his large Tupperware container of baked goods. Then he retreated to lean against a wall, his arms crossed over his chest in closed off posture.

Orion wasn't a captain. His captain had vacated the position. Great. Orion didn't consider himself anyone important, but he was a Ranger. The Rangers were all he had left.[break][break]

He arrives with pizza from the favoured location of the Slateport Rangers, TELEPORTING to the location after receiving the order so that the food remains hot. He recalls his Alakazam after arrival, but his Absol remains faithfully at his side.[break][break]

After setting down the pizza boxes, his gaze catches on Nikolaj Volosenkov. Not wanting to be too awkward, he chokes out a quick, "Hey."

This was probably the first time he's been to Ever Grande City after reporting for duty with transfer papers. Johto's form of sending help. Oliver Shrakes brought over a simple cheesy pasta dish, and put it on the table with a host of other goodies. Like last time, there was already a good bit of people around. Though the only person he really interacted with extensively was Josh Devlin. They'd done a couple of missions together and a bit of exercising and Pokemon testing. The bad boy ranger looked around to see a few cool cats leaning up against a wall. Someone was already talking to them, even though at least the oddball one looked like he really didn't want to be here.

And so he just walked towards a random chair and sat down, trying to relax a bit. He did recognize annalise henderson from the last meeting. Where things blew up spectacularly and didn't exactly leave a good impression on him. But they did their jobs as assigned and managed to save Hoenn from a meteor. The red and black haired guy just observed for the moment, not wanting to be rude and butt into anyone's conversations.

TLDR

there's probably still flour somewhere on her. they'd spent ages stuffing and folding the pirozhki. saskia has little patience for such tasks (it's why most of her food either ends up undercooked or burnt), but her father's patience kept them on track and most importantly, made for a well-executed dish.

he'd promised to bring them to the meeting, as she had to run a couple of errands and their timelines were just a little bit off.

but she arrives in time to watch kolya awkwardly set the dish down and then slink into the background, doing the exact opposite of what she had chattered to him about while making the pirozhki in the first place. she would not stand to have her father become an old curmudgeon. and besides!

she's excited to be able to share this piece of herself with him. and to meet all of her new colleagues.

so she walks up right as LANCE VOLLANS extends a hand to Nikolaj Volosenkov, waiting politely until after they've exchanged pleasantries to add, "and i'm saskia!"

Varying personalities within the room cause one to feel both drawn towards and pushed away from all corners of the room. Many faces are familiar, but before he can greet them Derek moves to place his dish upon the table. Freshly made chips and a uniquely spiced salsa from a recently opened Paldean styled restaurant. He takes one for himself before moving to take a slice of the pizza. If there were one thing he couldn't resist, it was trying pizza he'd never had before.

The black-haired man who'd delivered a stack of pizza boxes actually caught Nikolaj's gaze, blurting out an awkward greeting. Nikolaj nodded back in acknowledgement. "Hey," he replied just as awkwardly.[break][break]

And, as if it couldn't get any worse, two more Rangers approached them, another young man with black hair and a blonde girl. He spoke first to the jittery one, allowing Nikolaj to pick up on a name: Lykos.[break][break]

Then he addressed Nikolaj directly, introducing himself and extending a hand. The older man grasped it firmly, his fingers and palm rough with thick calluses.[break][break]

"Nikolaj Volosenkov, but everyone calls me Kolya," he said. Simple and direct, the shortened version of his name was far easier for everyone in Hoenn to pronounce. "I'm from Oldale."[break][break]

It was then that saskia volosenkova arrived. Relief flooded Nikolaj; his daughter could act as a buffer between him and the others. Swelling with a bit of fatherly pride, he released Lance's hand and touched Saskia's shoulder.[break][break]

"My daughter," he explained to the other three.
