"Careful there, friend." A kindly old man says to Navy as the detective sits on the side of the river. Clodsire are ferrying Pokemon across. His eyes scan back and forth, trying to find the pattern of their movements. "These things are toxic. One little hit and you'll be knocked out."[break]
"Don't worry, man. You say toxic? You don't know toxic. The kids down in Dewford? Man. They roleplay on an internet forum. Nothing's as toxic as that."[break]
The old man stops. Pauses. His eyes betray no comprehension, but he nods as if Navy just dispensed some profound wisdom. Finally, he thinks he sees the pattern. It's a waste of a day if he doesn't catch this thing...[break]

kyle takes a picture of the scene with his phone camera, having never seen anything like this before in the wild. usually, it happens with trained pokemon, but never wild ones.

as he edits the shot before uploading it on his social media, he realizes that people started lobbing pokeballs at them. there's a look of surprise and disbelief since it was such a nice thing to look at and the image of the little boat ride being struck on both sides by pokeballs remind him of olden ships being sunk by cannonballs.

he shakes his head, unable to believe that the oh so righteous hoenn people would start ruining the little wooper ride. it was just as toxic as, well, toxic.

kyle decides to join in anyways. it's peer pressure at this point, and he doesn't want to be the odd man out.

"Aw! It's so cute!" Temp had always loved the ocean more than freshwater fish. Yet there was an undeniable draw to Wooper and Quagsire. He stayed mostly out of the way of the traveling and busy Paldean pokemon... but that didn't mean he couldn't appreciate them![break][break]

A few chipper Wooper peeled from the water to dart around his feet in a playful manner. They clearly didn't see him as much of a threat. Which was fair! If he was as poisonous as those two were, he probably wouldn't fear much either.[break][break]

Lani's head was thumping mercilessly while the person beside her managed to drone on and on. She would occasionally release some form of affirming sound from her lips to reassure the person beside her that she was listening. Meanwhile she was cursing the fact that she had to be out here in the first place. [break][break]

This person called this a date but she wasn't sure how this was shaping up to be like one. For starters they had to do a trek out here in the first place. But apparently he had planned a 'romantic boat ride' across the river. Whatever that fucking meant. Leilani was too irritable and hungover for this anyway. Plus being out in the hot sun was only pissing her off more. [break][break]

Maybe she shouldn't have drank so much alcohol last night. But it was game night with the ORTHRUS GANG and it wouldn't be any fun without booze to amplify their shenanigans back at the base. Just while her mind was drifting she noticed a swarm of clodsire's ferrying a bunch of wooper and other little pokemon across the river. [break][break]

"How cute." Lani murmured. Eager to see what was going on and potentially make new friends Lani's wartortle jumped into the busy waters to go investigate. Lani didn't even get the chance to say anything before they were off doing their own thing. "Well, it couldn't hurt to make a new friend I guess." she muttered. "Uh Lani? Did you hear what I said?" the person beside her spoke. "Sorry darling, could you repeat that?" Lani asked, plastering a fake sweet smile on her face.[break][break]

When did Wooper get so friken cute? She was starting to see why Eris Halla loved them so much. The Paldean variant was one she had yet to inspect closely. The swarm was something she couldn’t miss, and so she sat quietly in a hidden nook to observe them without being disturbed. When she was finished, she figured she’d at least try to take one home with her. Standing, she aimed for the Wooper bouncing on the Clodsire’s back. Either would do.

Fishing, that was the only thing Aidan had planned that day. Little did he know that he was about to have the fight of his life while trying to take a break from life. It had been his own fault for keeping up with news about pokemon raids and how incredibly annoying it could be for someone who was simply trying to catch some magikarp for dinner.[break][break]

He just wanted some simple frid fish, not a poisonous massive fish that could probably end his lift as swiftly as a puffer fish could end the life anyone out there in the world dun dun duuuuuun. The soft sound of flowing water joined the gurgling calls of the wild Pokemon, serving as a soothing symphony for Saki's summer snooze. She didn't know how to fish or anything of the sort, so she just lay on her back, alternating between watching the clouds and watching the Clodsire as both drifted past.

The creatures weren't hostile enough to fuss over, or even to keep one of her own out to defend herself. They were rather cute, but Saki didn't want to anger any of them by trying directly to catch one. She just kept resting, cozily, under the warm sun. Chilling. Vibing, even. Like this, Saki succumbed to the poison coursing through her veins and seeping into her still-beating heart. The sweet, addictive poison of pure, unadulterated laziness.

A bit of poison was good for you, every now and then.

Poison types were her addiction. Much like poison ivy went it touches the skin, they burn her in more ways than one. Unlike poison icy however, there was no ointment to cure her obsession with a toxic type like this. In some ways, the raven haired woman was much like the type. Both can kill you, either instantly or over time. Both, can be very painful. There was one way to help however. Poison hunting.

A rumor had spread across hoenn like wild fire that a swarm of clodsire and its pre evolution has came to hoenn. And although Genesis already had, the itch to hunt down and catch another one forced her to travel to route 103 to see if she can get a shiny one. After all, shiny things are much better than normal ones.

Eyes widened at the sight of the of the swarm, instantly drawn to the purple one. Reaching into her pocket, the rocket member rushed in on the warm. Some of them fled, while others stood their ground. Genesis grinned, launching a sphere into the group and hoping to catch a shiny one.

this is nothing like those awful muk and grimer she and Nikolaj Volosenkov ran into. these little guys are adorable. she's here to watch over the swarm and make sure trainers don't get too excessive with their catching. don't want to overwhelm the local wildlife!

still, she can't help but try and join in on the fun. and if she's permitted to take one by the end of the catching frenzy, well, that's a win! but what would she ever name something so absurd-looking like these little guys? melli? if it's a girl? or maybe plumeria?

maybe she's getting a little ahead of herself...

the flurry of mud-colored and poisonous creatures were ferried across the river as if by charon himself. jayden witnissed it all, after sending a cursory text to that of Felix Gallagher and mint frost.

[break][break] ever since his fishing trip with THEO BECKETT, he occasionally perused the waters. he wondered how much the POISONOUS infestation would impact the water's PH level, and if it was something to be concerned over. deciding that it might have been useful to capture for their scientist's records, he released his shiny koffing.

[break] the teal pokemon released a CLEAR SMOG to distract the creatures before jayden tossed a pokeball.

Clodsires were quite charming, cute, and roly-poly; it was something that made them a surprisingly popular pokemon among certain folks. However, one had to be careful of their spines; the color of nightshade, and similarly poisonous, as well.

Thus, El was on the scene to make sure that anyone here to watch the procession were giving these wild pokemon their space. It wouldn't do for someone to try and pet one of them, only to end up stung, after all!

But that being said, well... They couldn't help but admit they were pretty fond of these amphibious pokemon, themself - getting to watch the swarm float on by was a bit of a treat, as a result.

Remiel wondered if, perhaps, the CLODSIRE fed on the LILY OF THE VALLEY he'd spotted just past the riverbank. He wasn't an expert on Poison-type Pokémon, of course, but he figured their diet might have something to do with the nature of their biology. He turns to the aforementioned flower nearby as he ponders plucking some to use as bait... then considers against it before long.

Instead, the exiled prince sends forth AKHENATEN, his COFAGRIGUS, in an attempt to seize one of these CLODSIRE with its MUMMY hands. The swarm panics, however, and the chaotic splashes of mud keep Remiel from seeing what is happening. Had Akhenaten been successful?

Callan used rubber gloves to pat out the injured spot on the Clodsire's back. He had heard from several industry friends who were into the stuff, that Paldean Wooper poison was a potent hallucinogen, like PCP.

But none for him, not now when he needed all of his senses sharp, even if it was unbearable at times.

"Here you go, good sir." He sprays the injury with a small amount of Super Potion, the lack of pain sensors seemed to help the giant blob. "Clod."

He replied. "You're welcome! It was a pleasure my friend." He squeezes the CLodsire's paw briefly, before getting up to go treat another.
