he boosted water-type moves against the fire-type. he also prohibited the paradox pokemon from abusing the zone with its signature move. he figures that's good enough for people to get off his case in case they tell him that he's being lazy again.

with his contribution in the fight done, his eyes dart from one hand to another. pages and scraps were the best he could see, until the biggest chunk of the book remaining in 's hands comes into view.

"heyo!" he calls her, waving his hand with his phone. "get ready!"

with his word, infinity energy springs forth from his suit and is channeled over to the smeargle. there's something jolly with the tone conveyed by the champion to a point of misplaced playfulness in the midst of rage, panic and apathy.

roar of time.

mirages of the past were supposed to burst out, but from a smeargle, the scope was limited. that was all kyle needed, temporary or not, since the event happened just a few moments ago.

he just needs a copy of the book before it turned into crisps. turning an item to its state a few moments before should be manageable by the pokemon.

if it holds, great. if it doesn't, kyle still has his phone to take a recording of the book's contents. they could always just take screenshots if they need a specific information from a specific page.

EVENT



THE KECLEON’S POSITIONING puts it in a prime position to attack the opponent’s backside. an easy way to land a CRITICAL HIT. but, before it can strike with a follow-up attack, the pokemon is berated by the callous aim of a DARK PULSE and the residual bombardment of DRACO METEORs.

“…!”

an attentive trainer knows to consider this and fernando is quick to recall his pokemon. leaving it there, while advantageous from an offensive standpoint, leaves it all too vulnerable to the inevitable friendly fire that comes with tackling such a threatening beast.

“battle routine alter.”

his SYNC STONE pulses at his choice in pokeball. when it pops open, the beast inside spins in place, erecting a swift PROTECT, as if trained to do so. those familiar with fernando’s shield, will recognize the settling white stone as his GLALIE.

“sygna!”

when the shimmering lights of his pokeball, and the PROTECT, settles, he’s no longer wearing a basic business suit. instead, it’s dappered with bold black and white lining much too fashionable for his image.

an orange tint flashes with his heartbeat, casting long shadows toward , , and .

THE WALKING WAKE



THE HYDRO STEAM GUSHES FROM THE WALKING WAKE'S MAW. The scalding geyser surges toward those carrying the book; however, the beam of water is contested by 's SHINY GOLURK. Searing droplets scatter onto their clothes and the floor; however, any BURNS are repelled by 's COMFEY'S SAFEGUARD.[break][break]

As the GOLURK'S Z-MOVE: NEVER-ENDING NIGHTMARE clashes against the unrelenting brine, 's SMEARGLE is quick to move into position thanks to its trainer's JOLLY nature. Just in time, the dog waves its brush-like tail. An IMPRISON forces the HYDRO STEAM to fail, the spout reducing to a pathetic squirt dribbling from the creature's jaw.[break][break]

A horrible yowl announces the WALKING WAKE'S TERASTALLIZATION. is quick to decipher its FIRE TERA TYPE. The FLAMETHROWER swings toward the group, their sightlines blurred by an intense heat shimmer. Immediately, 's WYDREER uses its Z-MOVE: STARRY SHIELD. A protective dome materializes, its shape made celestial by shimmering stars. Those inside (, , , ) are healed.[break][break]

The FOLLOWING CHARACTERS/THEIR POKEMON have been protected from being BURNED:[break][break]



As the cave chamber is submerged in shimmering lights, and her URSHIFU press the offensive. She summons AQUA RINGS around the cerulean theropod. Several pop, their duty fulfilled as they interfere with the creature's attack. Above, 's RAYQUAZA nullifies the SUNNY DAY with its AIR LOCK.[break][break]

's HEALING SCALES heal as he calls upon his ORBEETLE. The PSYCHIC-TYPE is wreathed in the PSYCHIC TERRAIN the man exudes as it provides PROTECTion for The Commissioner. She utters thanks and summons her DRAGONITE.[break][break]

"do we believe this to be the only one of its kind, or do more live here?" She says as her Pokemon conjures a SAFEGUARD too.[break][break][break][break][break][break]


The FOLLOWING CHARACTERS/THEIR POKEMON have been BURNED initially:[break][break]

's URSHIFU, 's SLAKING,


The FLAMETHROWER dispels a shield of ILLUMINA ENERGY from 's SLAKING; however, the Elite Four purposefully allows his partner to incur a BURN. Furthermore, the area is doused in a WATER ZONE from 's SYGNA SUIT. Empowered by the element, the WATER TERA TYPE DRAGAPULT commands looses a devastating HYDRO CANNON on the WALKING WAKE. It courses by several of 's AIR RINGS[break][break]



As the WALKING WAKE stubbornly pushes forth, 's URSHIFU uses its Z-MOVE RAPID-STRIKE: COMBO HIT. Through the flames the brazen bear incurs burns; however, its fists collide with the WALKING WAKE continuously in rapid succession, the thwack of knuckles against tough hide loud enough for the entire chamber to hear.[break][break]

's RAGE surges into her bonded PRIMARINA. The ILLUMINA ENERGY connecting them both protects the PRIMARINA from being felled by the FLAMETHROWER thanks to the SPECIAL SHIELD; however, it endures a terrible BURN.[break][break]

However, the PRIMARINA'S SPARKLING ARIA crashes into the WALKING WAKE with a powerful impact thanks to 's WATER ZONE. The subsequent splash sprays healing droplets around the chamber, curing both PRIMARINA and 's URSHIFU of the BURN STATUS CONDITION as 's SILVALLY lunges in with a WATER-TYPE MULTI-ATTACK. Briefly, the creature stumbles while its primal cords resonate violent cries.[break][break]

As the WALKING WAKE prepares to attack again, 's ROARING MOON and 's CHARIZARD summon HURRICANES. The latter's HURRICANE glimmers with the power of TERASTALLIZATION, lifting the heavy creature for 's RAYQUAZA to rain DRACO METEORS upon.[break][break]



As the WALKING WAKE slams back to the cavern floor, it is struck by 's CHI-YU. Its DARK PULSE crashes with its malevolent magic, striking and FLINCHING 's KECLEON to unintentionally leave it open for 's DRACO METEORS.[break][break]

The Councilman is quick to swap the KECLEON for his GLALIE. Suddenly, INFINITY ENERGY begins to coalesce visibly between , , and (LEAGUE THEME). Another FLAMETHROWER blasts from the WALKING WAKE'S MAW in retaliation.[break][break]

As the GLALIE PROTECTS against incoming flames alongside who shields himself behind a barricade of earth, 's RESHIRAM fires a DRAGON PULSE to contest it.[break][break]



Simultaneously, 's SLAKING uses its Z-MOVE: HYPERADAPT. A powerful AURA manifests as the SLAKING barrels forward. Its FACADE attack—now empowered by the BURN it has maintained—pins the WALKING WAKE to the cavern floor. The FIRE TERA CROWN SHATTERS. As the WALKING WAKE shrieks, brilliant lights scatter about the cave.[break][break]

Though it may seem like the fight is over, the WALKING WAKE will FIGHT TO DEATH. It will resist all attempts to capture as its tendril-like tails sweep around, its jaw open to futilely attempt IMPRISONED HYDRO STEAMS or launch FLAMETHROWERS. This creature must be killed, lest it take one of you down with it.

THE HIGHEST ROLL will determine the FINISHING BLOW on the WALKING WAKE. Those in SYGNA SUITS have ADVANTAGE ON THEIR ROLLS.[break][break]

AFTER THE BEAST IS FELLED, the Commissioner breathes a sigh of relief. There is a period of time in which the WALKING WAKE'S BODY IS EXAMINABLE; however, in a few moments, unbeknownst to the A.Q.U.A. Initiative, the body will disperse into light.[break][break]

Sometime during the chaos, 's SMEARGLE uses ROAR OF TIME on the smoldering chunk of book in 's hands. Time is reversed briefly in limited space... The book reconstructs itself. Whatever can be seen seems to possess memories of the events of GOODBYE GALAR... A drawing of a DYNAMAX POWER SPOT... Eventually, time corrects itself, but the FRONT COVER, a thick scarlet case as heavy as a seal stone, remains.[break][break]



On it, a peculiar creature's design is inscribed in its center. Curiously, would notice that the cover did not previously contain this lizard-like design. Rather, its appearance is new and strikingly familiar to his CYCLIZAR. However, what remains the same are the four, never-before-seen symbols on the book cover's corners...[break][break][break]

There is only one way out through the other end of the chamber.

Protected as he is by the half-dozen or so shields raised by AQUA, the heat still forces him to take a step back. Looking up at his bear, who even now punches, Navy can’t imagine the heat. Burned flesh traces down one side of his face, covering much of his chest. Even with two of the best physicians in the world present, he knows that the scars left by the great dragon will remain.[break][break]
Even still, his bear punches. Navy doesn’t know if Shuwen’s fists are what fells the beast. Regardless, it dies. It dies, and they are left in the aftermath of the attack.[break][break]
Gray eyes scan the room. They first go to . She’s alive, and in one piece. Afterwards, he looks to and breathes easy knowing the commissioner survives. The last thing the League needs is for a wild dragon to maul its leadership.[break][break]
Last, his eyes fall upon the book and the page he holds. While restores the book, he reads the page left to him, commits it to memory as much as he can anything. Folding it and stuffing it under his scarf lest and decide to unleash another inferno, he walks up to and examines the cover.[break][break]
“Huh…don’t think it had that on the cover before.” His rumination is coupled with unhooking a pokeball from his belt. As the creature behind them fell, so did Shuwen. A gentle rest in a pokeball is preferable to suffering in silence. In his place comes Lizzy once more. His Cyclizar, too, looks up at the book with curiosity that mirrors her trainer.[break][break]
“Looks kinda like Lizzy. Meaner, though.” She huffs with indignity and looks away, as if to say she can be plenty mean.

blessed be those that stood in front and stacked enough protection for him to be able to perform this.

he has the front row seats for the book's restoration. his phone's camera had been ready the moment roar of time went off, recording the contents of the book as he had planned before the pages disintegrate back to ashes.

his heart races as the gambit worked, much like the solgaleo that rushes out of its ball to take a swing at the walking wake.

a sunsteel strike lets the pokemon experience one bit of the action as kyle watches in surprise. It looms over the corpse, seemingly curious about the false legendary's identity in this world.

kyle waits until it disappears before he gets the clarity to recall the solgaleo, who surprisingly was more concerned about it than entei. he beckons his entei to him before taking a breather.

"you don't look dead," he tells as he approaches the book. "good job."

looking around, there doesn't seem to be any other major injury sustained by the party.

"i'll send you the copy wirelessly right now if you want," he offers since internet probably can't reach them underground.

it would probably easier to wait until they're outside though.

[attr="class","illeana i"]with the quick thinking of and , all nearby bodies seem to come out unscathed - a blessing, perhaps. she flashes a bright, grateful smile to both men before calling out to them.

"thanks, and !"

the walking wake, while well within being beaten to a pulp, still manages to take a few staggering steps forward. her shiny golurk rushes to meet it halfway, a large clay arm winding up before smashing a hammer arm into the walking wake's body.

a few more attacks come and she cannot tell in the moment exactly who deals the final blow, but it ends all the same: in death.

the odd primordial beast succumbs to an early grave before them as roar of time rewrites recent history. the book in 's hands becomes whole and her eyes snap to its cover. brilliant scarlet stares up at everyone and instead of drifting closer, she looks between and .

"mind sending me a copy as well?"

she hopes - no, prays - for something of substance for the power spots within its pages.

and then, she advances forward to get a better look at walking wake's corpse. crouching beside it, she tugs a pair of gloves from the bag at her hips and pulls them on quickly before reaching to examine its physiology further.

The book piques his curiosity, but with so many voices and eyes, he allows the more academically inclined to take front-and-center. His attention inevitably shifts to the once threatening Pokemon. It bears a remarkable resemblance to Suicune, though it clearly lacks the grace and beauty spoken of in legend.

Its death was an unfortunate side-effect of this misadventure and he wished to do no more harm to the creature than what was necessary. Whether or not it was the ultimate aggressor, or simply defending his home, he hadn't the faintest idea. He could grant it no more a mercy than the others, and in their competition to finish it off, would do just that.

He focuses on other matters.

"Ells." The soft tug of his voice springs her into action. ethereal leaves, colored like an autumn day, lift themselves around the Elite Four member as FLORAL HEALING finds its targets.

The burn singes her skin as she cries out in pain from it. Her Primarina quickly moving to take out the pokemon itself as Melody falls back and throws out her hand to give her order in resistance "Sparkling aria! Finish it off while it's still a fire type!" she shouts as Melody's primarina musters up her strength and puts her all into this final sparkling aria to defeat it.[break][break]

She sighs a breath of relief as the creature goes down, watching it carefully to ensure that it was actually defeated and not feigning death. She winces in pain as 's comfey comes in to cure melody's burn, her primarina coming over to assist with another helping of a soft sparkling aria dripping from it's maw. The imagery was disgusting but necessary as Melody had to ensure there were no burn marks on her body. It was essential for her career. [break][break]

fire swathes them and steam billows around the room. its crown shatters and as hoenn's finest overwhelm it, its snarls of malice give way to the screams of the dying. she knows it will not stop until it's dead, but it's with a grim expression she helps assure its end.

's pitying gaze and disentanglement makes her swallow. in the end, we're all animals, she thinks. animals backed into a corner and fighting tooth and nail to make it out of this alive. 

the walking wake's body disperses in light and freya murmurs, barely audible save perhaps to , passing words in draconic. 

they crowd around and the book. freya rests a hand on her dragon's flank and ignores the discussion, their congratulatory praise, and looks further down the tunnel. the tera crystals have stopped growing at their backs, but as of right now, they're still trapped down here. 

she clears her throat and raises her voice. "this might not be over yet. discuss your findings later. and will have plenty of time to look over it after we get out of here." 

lyune lumbers forward and, sparing , , and even withering looks, freya strides forward at his side.

Grouped, but isolated. That was the best way to describe AQUA.

A group of disparate loners bound together only by might, barely held together.

Oer perhaps it was just him. He should have felt some sense of camaraderie or fulfilment, they had taken down a powerful beast, a 'raid boss'.

Yet victory rings hollow despite their coordination. Callan's Slaking is healed by 's Comfey, the sole acknowledgment that he had been existed at all in this event.

He gives an appreciative nod towards the man, seating himself down in the rubble as he recalls hhis still-injured, but thankfully alive Slaking.

What was it all for? Why did he even bother?

Why did he care to set up a system for it to be ignored and despised?

Why did he act with professionalism and care of duty, when it was shirked by so many around him?

Why did he care about the opinions of those who vacillated from one waking memory to another, wihtout a single thought of what would happen in the near future?

How many others, felt exactly the same thing that he did right now?

Here we go again.


"Good question! I'll ask Garo once we're done with this one!" He said in response to 's mid-combat query, storing it off for later.

Luckily, the fight was already beginning to wind down.

He didn't join in on finishing off the slowing titan, lips pulled taut as the beast collapsed in a heap, brutalized into eternal submission by the league's finest.

"If that ain't a metaphor and a half." He said to himself, staring at the corpse for just long enough for his Orbeetle to feel the need to intervene, prodding at his side. "Hn? Oh... I'm fine. Don't let me bug you."

The young medic keeled over immediately after, managing a laughing wheeze despite the psychic gut pains assaulting his innards.

"I—ack!— A-am NOT sorry." He managed between groaning cackles, dragging an eyeroll out of his Orbeetle. "A-anyway... Turn on the radar, Garo. Anything else we should be worrying about?"

That was the signal to the bug to extend its radar-like senses as far as they would go, seeking either the titan's brethren or whatever else called the cave system its home.

In the meanwhile, Doug turned his gaze to those most severely burned, tipping his hat at 's Comfey with a smile. As it had healed the injuries on those most affected by the paradox pokemon's blast, the Lt. Colonel could focus on dealing the stubborn burns left behind by the unnaturally empowered flames.

Hopefully with enough finesse to avoid any... blemishes.

"'ello, stranger." He said with an irreverent smile, approaching . "Not to be fresh, but may I look at those burns? Don't worry— I'll make 'em go away."

Setting down his case, the youth reached in and put some disposable gloves, before gesturing to and with a digit.

"And you two— I'll be with your pokemon in a sec!"

Turning back to Melody, he began to work, his index finger beginning to glow hot pink.

Most of the people present were out for blood, however he sighed. Why were they beating down on the strange… the strange Pokémon? Wasn’t it possible to catch it?

He came down for a landing and the tattered wings disappeared, before he looked over in ’s direction. He was still holding a knife-shaped icicle just in case something came shooting after them (since his Marshadow had one page of the book) and he had to throw it just in case.

He gave the other man a look that said ‘Can we talk later?’ before sighing at whatever else was happening.

“Why can’t they just calm down and try to capture it?” he continued with a quiet sigh, his occupied hand idly playing with the knife made of ice while watching most of everyone else go after the strange Pokémon… he couldn’t keep calling it a beast forever, could he?

Meanwhile, he would take his phone out with his other hand and then attempt to snap a few pictures of the felled Pokémon-like creature for reference. He had a feeling someone he knew could tell what this was.


• Lars.exe just sighs at everyone out for blood, what if some people want it alive for further study?!

Her breath catches in her throat, eyes wide at the realization that she had spent her precious DELTA STREAM to protect her and her colleague from the beast’s attacks. Eva’s hand slowly lowers as she watches it fall under the duress of the attacks from her colleagues. She swallows down the knot, gripping the book tight.

“We didn’t have to kill it!” she glances between those around her, knitting her brows tight over a stern gaze, “We’re trainers! We subdue and capture wild pokemon all the-”

Her words are cut short by a strange, staggering feeling that forces her back a step. The book in her hands feels different. Time shifts, and the Scarlet cover knits itself back together. Her eyes grow wide in awe. She thumbs the heavy, leather cover with the embedded Seal Stone. With a practiced focus, she studies every detail: the gold inlay, the dark outline of another mysterious creature. It isn’t until after says something, that she recognizes the similarities to his Cyclizar. Faint memories buried deep in her subconscious are tickled to life by the drawing of the Power Spot and the collection of references to Galar. For a moment, she looks at with what might be a sliver of recognition, but it fades as quickly as she blinks.

“Here, keep it safe,” she offers the SCARLET BOOK to before moving to examine the remains alongside while the rest of the group debates how to get them out of this cavern.
