Bavsargra’s struggling to catch up with the other racers when all of the others were so far ahead of her. It’s obvious that Elise needed more training on the aquatic front when she has trained much with her Absol on land. Bavsargra doesn’t tire, the female Dragonair is eager to make sure they’ll improve their standing. They swam across the stretch of the course which is longer and straight, but it would be a good way for them to pick up on their swimming speed.[break][break]

With her reaction, the serpentine Dragonair uses Extreme Speed as she slithers in a full speed across the current. Waters push against the blue body of the Dragonair as she’ll see the other racers and their Pokemon ahead of her. Maybe this time, they’ll be able to get it![break][break]

Really, he probably shouldn’t have bothered, lest doing so got into his head and psyched him out.[break][break]

Just as quickly, Lam turned forward again, a hand rising to wipe some of the water from his goggles. “Best to keep ahead while we can, I don’t think this straightaway is gonna be nice for long.” Once they were past the current pushed out by their competition, the feraligatr continued to cut through the water—determined to keep just ahead of the rest in the hope to avoid the worst of the bottlenecking as the course began to narrow more and more. If there was anything that was gonna hinder their position, it was a collision!

If nothing else? Style points. Even if she can't manage to get any further in position, she took a different approach; be as entertaining as possible. So, even as she's swimming right next to Michael Navidson , she grins ear-to-ear, with Uzi trying her damndest to flip, even going as far as corkscrewing into the water, and re-submerging in a fast-paced jump.[break][break]

"YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" she roars out with enough excitement to overdose a baby Copperajah, and upon seeing the homestretch, a second wind. The Sheriff was feeling it too, from ahead![break][break]

With a pat on Uzi, she calls out with the biggest grin she can muster. "Let it loose, Uzi! Hop on the water!" With the surge of boost energy, the Vaporeon leapt back onto the waves, and utilized QUICK ATTACK, leaving caution to the wind.[break][break]

TRAFFIC JAM

THE NARROW HOME STRETCH WAS TREACHEROUS to those in heavy traffic; its cramped quarters were an opportunity for those in open waters to catch up or extend their lead. Eris Halla and Gwyar Wledig were locked in metaphorical combat as the surf grew in intensity, neither their WOOPER nor AEGISLASH yielding. Their narrow bodies made them perhaps the only two Pokémon in the field that could fit through the pass at the same time. A sudden gust of wind blew the steel-type to the right at the very end, causing the ghostly blade's guard to nick a rock face and send the Galarian knight dizzily twirling about.[break][break]

THE SWORD-SURFER had become a deadly accident waiting to happen, forcing CIAN MAHER , robin coello , and Josh Devlin to abruptly slow their Pokémon to avoid receiving nasty cuts. The CARRACOSTA and the SHARPEDO had rapidly closed the gap to the Rustboro Leader, though they were not out of harm's way by the time the sword recovered. [break][break]

DEWFORD'S SHERIFF, Michael Navidson , saw the opportunity. Taking full advantage of his KINGDRA's narrow frame, the deep-sea dragon's fins rapidly swish back and forth, turning a royal purple in a reckless DRAGON DANCE. With flawless steering from his trainer, they swerve through traffic like a jail-broken criminal evading police, weaving around kyle lopez 's WAILORD, Thomas Benoit 's BASCULEGION, and Raju Mystic 's GOLISOPOD to find himself alongside Gwyar Wledig with no fear whatsoever. Despite being in the middle of heavy traffic, they felt in control of their surroundings.[break][break]

NOT ALL WERE FORTUNATE to keep their cool in the heavy traffic; while Leilani Kalawai'a 's BLASTOISE was stout, even they were not immune to the sheer size and strength of the wake robin coello 's CARRACOSTA and kyle lopez 's WAILORD produced. The two turtles refused to yield to one another despite the rough conditions, the giant whale pushing the fossil Pokémon away. Tragically, it was Leilani Kalawai'a who suffered, the Ranger's momentum deadened from a solid, direct hit that send the BLASTOISE pinballing back and forth across the width of the home stretch. Elise Calcifet and her EXTREME SPEEDING DRAGONAIR, as well as Genevieve Cromwell and her QUICK ATTACKING VAPOREON, made up quite a bit of time, the Elite Ranger narrowly passing the Alolan. As distant as the BLASTOISE was, catching up with them seemed attainable. [break][break]

IN FEONT OF THE TRAFFIC JAM, Jack Napier leaned into the wind, his sights on lam logan 's FERALIGATR in front of him. As the Lilycove Leader glanced back, he would find the Alolan surfer zooming toward him, the MANTINE's wide body letting them ride the current much more effectively. Coldly and calmly calculated, the professional barely avoided rear-ending the amphibian with his Pokémon. With a sharp swerve that threatened even his balance, the winged water-type sublimely executed a dramatic pass, surging across the starting line and being the first to see the white flag wave, the gallery's roar the only other sign that this was the last time around the track.

Prompt: The horn signaling the start of the final lap has spooked several wild Pokémon, causing them to create WHIRLWINDS above the opening stretch and make surface currents unpredictable! The Pokémon flee as the racers come around the course's opening corners, causing the winds to dissipate. This makes conditions significantly easier to anticipate for those farther back in the field. It could be the break they need to make a dramatic run at the leaders![break][break]

Robin shook her fist at kyle lopez as the wailord usurped her after being head to head. The big wave caused by its passing almost overtook her, but Carracosta held strong. However, she did see the fashionable woman behind her, Leilani Kalawai'a , who couldn't survive the water as well as she did. She huffed. She wanted to get ahead of that wailord, though she also needed to keep her cool.

Carracosta cheered, and Robin regained her mentality. "OK, yeah, you're right. Eye on the prize: keepin' it steady." She stayed the course, not steering aggressively even as she began to feel a little antsy about doing so.

He tried to do more, but as he focused more on the Basculegion. Only to be passed expertly by a Kingdra and Michael Navidson! Even Raju had to admit that was some great pokemon riding, and in the back of his mind, wondered how good of a fighter the guy was. But that was for another day and another time. He closed the distance to Thomas Benoit, but still didn't pass the guy before it was too narrow. And someone was clogging it this time! Well, not full blown, he could see the Blastoise pinballing all the way to the finish line. Still, he crossed the line in twelth place. That is...when the wild Pokemon started to flee, and even he could see the happenings in front. Currents were shifting...and more. Raju was observant...and tried to predict the upcoming changes and try to take advantage of it all!

TLDR
Gets passed by Michael Navidson! And is impressed.
Continues to try to close the distance on Thomas.
Sees the pinballing Blastoise.
Sees the upcoming changes, and tries to predict them to get ahead!

For now, the pair would rely on their mutually competitive spirits to push them forward and dog the mantine as closely as they could manage![break][break]

It was now time, as they say, to execute manifest destiny.

He had waited far too long for this, endured so much surface and underwater traffic—however fact of the matter was that there were strong, harsh winds blowing and threatening to send everyone careening off-course—or to cause a dangerous pile-up in the middle!

There was no way he wanted to cause (or be the cause of) a massive pile-up, so…

“Ri. Let’s go!” he would exclaim, suddenly popping out the Terastal Orb and touching it to the back of his Mantine’s head—no need to throw it, he was quite literally riding the Mantine like a surfboard—

And the brightest explosion of light would engulf the two of them; before the funny bunch of balloons would appear very close to the tip of the dual-type’s head afterward!

“Hit it!” he would yell a few moments later; before using Bounce in an attempt to get out of range of the air funnels while sailing ahead—because did you want to know what would happen if those wind funnels even touched the surface of the water?!

She’s still behind the disqualified racer and her Blastoise when they had come out of the current. As a racer working under Josh, the diplomat had to catch up with the rest of those ahead of her. Onto the final lap of the race, Elise sees the whirlwinds created by the spooked wild Pokemon in response to the horns giving that signal. Currents of water would make it a bit harder to travel through, but she believes in her Dragonair. [break][break]

Bavsargra slithers across the water in a speed that would rival Josh’s. She is just as determined to try and make this lap count. Though this would be the lap before the winner would be decided, both racer and her dragon would do it to the very end until they’ll try their best.[break][break]

A traffic jam making it difficult for Josh to control Snacker was bad enough. Now, a bunch of bird Pokémon spooked into dropping WHIRLWINDS over the opening stretch to make the current even harder to traverse? How did this not cause a caution flag to drop? Far as he was concerned, the aerial vortices were a hazard that should have stopped the race. "Alright, Snacker! It's time!" Josh cried, leaning in and taking his left hand off the reins long enough to raise his MEGA GLOVE skyward. Snacker glowed with a blue-purple light as he morphed into his apex form, completing his MEGA EVOLUTION.

The Gym Leader grunted as Snacker ejected a huge surge of water from his rear, the impact with the surface sounding like a crashing waterfall.
