It'd be just his luck that Eddie would stumble onto a mess like this on his way back from Verdanturf Leather and Saddle. [break][break]

Technically speaking, he was off duty, so whatever mess was happening in and around the automotive plant was none of his damn business. But when he saw a Revavroom-powered Subaru nearly side-swipe a handful of pedestrians on the side of the road, Eddie realized he couldn't just sit around and do nothing, [break][break]

“C'mon girl, let's ride!” [break][break]

At least this was an excellent opportunity to put Delilah's new saddle and bridle to work. He turned the Mudsdale and sent her charging after the hatchback; they'd have to be quick if they were going to catch up. There was no way she was going to be able to keep pace with the top speeds of an actual car, but as luck would have it, the Revavroom seemed to be running on fumes. It slowed as it came to a sharp turn, and Eddie took the opportunity to close in on the vehicle.[break][break]

He could see where the Revavroom more or less had ensconced itself in the grill of the car, the rest of it's body likely housed when the engine would normally go. The poor creature looked dazed, somehow; Eddie felt some pity for the poor thing as he maneuvered Delilah to pull up alongside. [break][break]

Now this next part was going to be tricky, and if he fucked it up, Eddie was sure that the road rash that resulted from the fall was going to hurt like hell. On the bright side, it probably wouldn't result in any kind of permanent damage or disfigurement, so really, what did he have to lose? [break][break]

“Lilah, keep tailin' this thing. Might need ya to come in with an earthquake ta stop it in it's tracks if things go south.” [break][break]

The Mudsdale whinnied in acknowledgment, but her eyes widened with disbelief as Eddie shakily stood up in his stirrups. Up came the left foot onto the top of the saddle; he held his hands out wide to steady himself as he pulled up the right. It was a damn good thing he picked a mount with a back as broad as the side of a barn, Eddie mused to himself, as he kept his knees bent to lessen the effect that the Mudsdale's galloping stride had on his balance. Now, before he lost his nerve; three, two, one. [break][break]

Eddie leapt from Delilah's back and onto the hood of the car, landing with a dull thud as he quickly gripped the lip of an open window. His heart pounded in his ears as held on for dear life, dragging himself towards the driver's side across the top of the vehicle. One arm pulling, than the other coming up; with some effort, he managed to haul himself over and slip inside onto the driver's seat. [break][break]

Holy shit, he actually did it, Eddie thought with some amazement as he flashed a toothy smile and a thumbs-up to the Mudsdale pacing alongside (she just rolled her eyes at him, the old coot). It took some effort to wrest control back from the Revavroom piloting the damn thing, but with a white-knuckled grip on the steering wheel and an insistent pumping of the breaks, Eddie was finally able to pull the exhausted Steel-type over and stop the car along the side of the road. Eddie beamed to himself in self-congratulatory pride for just a moment, until a thought occurred to him as he sat among the black vinyl and upholstery of the interior; this would've been a lot cooler if the Revavroom snagged, like, a Camero or something instead. Or a Mustang? Ooo, or a Chevelle! Man, a Chevelle woulda been cool as hell. He took a moment to mourn the car that never was before finally exiting to extricate the poor Revavroom from it's vehicular prison.
