Thea knew that those Toxic Chains and all of those Toxic spreadings weren't good news at all, but she also knew that something was actually behind it, and it wasn't just all a big coincidence or mere disruption in the Pokémon ecossystem. No, she was certain something incredibly big was off... And she also knew that, despite this being a dangerous area, it was better to be in a place she knew that would be dangerous, than having a false sense of safety only to be caught off guard and die exploded by a Weezing or swallowed by an Arbok.[break][break]

With that in mind, and knowing that Lutgarde was nearby and about to engage these dangers, Thea decided to stick close to them, along with Knight. At this point, Lutgarde's presence eased her heart, after all, they had saved her skin when she was about to become snake food. So not only it was safer, but she wanted to make sure that Lutgarde weren't going to get caught off guard themselves.[break][break]

"Kay, be aware of your surroundings—" She warned her cousin, covering his blind spots with her usual Pokémon trio: Gominha, Zeus, and Belle. "Guys, let's go, tackle with full power!"[break][break]

Gominha the Wigglytuff started with an Echoing Voice, that only intensified as the Tinkatons tried to approach, eventually becoming an unbeareable sound that shook everything... Zeus the Primeape approached, and with Low Kicks he took the opportunity to make them lose balance and make their hammers fall, while Belle the Minccino charged in with a Slam, straightforward but effective.[break][break]

Meanwhile, Thea casted a concerned gaze to the Terra Crystals... She didn't fully know what they were about, but she didn't feel like those were good news. A cough then escaped her throat, and she felt her breath becoming heavier... That again...[break][break]

"Lut..." She muttered weakly, but tried to keep her stance firm. "... I'm starting to think these ill feelings aren't just side effects from that Arbok's bite..." Thea admitted, a bit worried, but still managing to stand and order her Pokémons in the battle.[break][break]

The sound of hammer against hammer echoed through Area Zero.

“Careful now behind it, Ruby.” Johanna called out as a fellow Tinkaton was about to slam their hammer down from behind.

The Gym-Trained Tinkaton swung around halting the approaching attack with a ROCK SMASH, before returning fury to her first victim with a second ROCK SMASH.

Johanna eased a bit seeing her own Tinkaton easily deal with the attackers. Though for all the ease she felt that near constant nauseous feeling she was getting whenever she was in areas of high Mochi-Concentration continued.

Have I been poisoned somehow?

Aw, geez.

Robin had a soft spot for Tinkaton, but they were destroying absolutely everything. "Hammer arm!" Snorlax charged forward and swung on the tinkaton, blasting her across the street. "We're gonna be knocking 'em down all day, Mun." His determination was clear as he readied another strike. A tinkaton came from behind, but he sensed her before Robin could call it out. He turned and hit her with a right hook that sent her soaring into a building.

Giant hammers raise toward them. Countless numbers of hooligans ready to demolish whatever stands in their way, frenzied by the toxins that afflict their minds. [break][break]

She smirks, egging them on. Beads of sweat form on her brow. Dark circles gather under her eyes. Even so, her voice carries across what seems like the entire town, gathering the attention of pokemon and trainers alike. [break][break]

Fangs cast in flames explode against one of the tinkaton in the crowd. Then another. Minds stolen by blind aggression, they frantically look around while a black serpent burns them down one by one, severing their chains with flames. [break][break]

The woman cheers, turning the crowds hyper-aggression on her again for one last fiery explosion. [break][break]

"Good job, Sumi! Keep at it!" [break][break]

's experiences curbing the worst of the Tinkaton isn't lost on her. She's learned quite a bit with the E4's tenure as custodian of Dewford, and their own little pest problem. This ain't nothin' new. [break][break]

El had been aware of the Toxic Chain situation for awhile now, and amidst it had been doing their best to help in keeping things under control whenever things cropped up...

... But, there is something about this incident in particular that disturbs them. Namely, in the fact that these toxic chains were even affecting steel pokemon who would otherwise be unaffected by standard poisons.

They could at least brush it off with the Revarooms before, with their part-poison typing perhaps being a catalyst, but here..? Was it because they were part-fairy, which was otherwise weak without the steel? Or was this something far more malignant than one might otherwise believe?

At the very least, the most that they could do was try to contain the outbreak - keeping a close eye on things from Akero's back as Lagombi fired off a Pyro Ball at the nearest rampant Tinkaton.

Beau knew he was rarely the sharpest knife in a given drawer, but he felt pretty proud of how he was handling this outbreak.

Numerous Tinkaton, all with those crazy chains attached to them, were smashing everything in sight that wasn't a Tinkaton with their enormous hammers. Soooo...he brought a Tinkaton out, and things seemed to be going his way!

The Tinkaton chirped happily as she meandered among her rampaging kin, waiting until she had their trust (he assumed) before unleashing a vicious GIGATON HAMMER that sent the poor little things flying. At least they'd be doing less damage out of the thick of things. He turned away from the melee as his pokemon continued her devious mission, tapping out a message with his thumbs as he added to a report that was already increasingly lengthier than what he would normally prefer.

Okay, if it wasn’t bad enough they hadn’t finished mapping out the entirety of Area Zero, this had to happen as well!

He sighed, before pinching the bridge of his nose. Normally, he would bust out either Alpha or Ro, however these Pokémon with the comically-huge hammers were causing mass mayhem and panic, swinging them around and… whoa. Those chains really had a macabre look to them, wouldn’t you say?

He blinked.

Okay, it was time for the heavy artillery.

Whipping out a particular Pokéball, he would then summon his Blaziken, aptly named Guinevere, in a flash of red light—just as one of the Tinkaton came screaming at him swinging that comically-large hammer!

“Whoa!” he would yelp as the Blaziken would swing into action, catching it off-guard with a surprise Blaze Kick and hopefully forcing the strange pink Pokémon to crash into another nearby Tinkaton!

Yikes.

on his way back from one of his usual excursions down into area zero, he's interrupted by TOXIC TINKATON. he recognizes their affliction almost instantly, familiar enough with them by now.

clicking his tongue, he taps on his TERA ORB to help his silvally's FLAME CHARGE mow them down, keeping it relatively safe from harm. safer than it would be without the tera crystals, anyway.

Sweet Arceus, the chaos never seemed to end in Hoenn. [break][break]

This time, his squad had been dispatched to Area Zero (a place that Eddie still wasn't totally thrilled to be in, especially with a bunch of other rank-and-file recruits) to deal with a bunch of hammer-hurling hooligans. He felt marginally more prepared to deal with this threat, having considered himself fairly familiar with the species back home, but Eddie was not prepared for the sheer ferocity with which they struck. One Tinkaton, wielding a thorny wooden mace that looked like it was more at home in an RPG than clutched between her hands, took a wild swing at a squadmate to Eddie's left, [break][break]

“Look out!” he called, but too late. [break][break]

There was a sickening 'thud' as the man fell to the ground, without the chance to send out his own Pokemon to deal with the threat. Fortunately, Eddie found himself at least a little more prepared as the Coalossal at his side incinerated the little fae with impunity. [break][break]

With some difficulty, Eddie slung his (thankfully, just unconscious) brother-in-arms across his shoulders as Antony covered their retreat. He moved as fast as he could, even as the other man's weight made the trip all the more difficult; Eddie would have to be quick if he didn't want to be the next man to fall.[break][break]

Waddling low to the ground as he skulks after Tinkaton, Skeledirge seems to have made it his life's mission to eliminate the havoc-causing Pokemon. He pops up here and there, spewing gouts of flame accompanied by song as his Torch Songs fill the air.

Nenet watches, caught somewhere between amused and concerned at Skeledirge's antics. One way or another the swarm needed to be taken care of.

Michael watched helplessly as his Charmander partner slid backward on the ground on all fours. Being hit with that Tinkaton's hammer did not look pleasant in the slightest. Wincing, he attempted to strategize how to beat the toxic foe.

The Cadet Ranger then realized something. Not only did the Toxic Chains ensnare the hammer and the Pokemon's arms, but thorns covered the surface of the weapon as well. An epiphany occurred.

"Wait," Michael thought, "thorns are plants. They should be weak to fire! Eimyrja! Hit 'em with Inferno!"

Eimyrja shook her head to free herself from her dizziness. Growling, she prepared her fiery attack. "Charrrrr...!"

"Mander!"

A stream of flames billowed forth to engulf the threatening Tinkaton! As Michael theorized, the fires burned away the thorns! As Tinkaton was a Fairy and Steel-Type, the flames did little with the Pokemon themself. However, the fires also managed to burn away the Toxic Chains.

Hammer meets hammer as the heavy handed Chromium trades blows with the toxic chained Tinkaton, yet another escapee from Area Zero affected by the poisonous phenomenon. But this little creature only had one hammer to swing, no matter how fast it might be it simply couldn't compare to the four steel arms that the Metagross was sporting as it smashes the gremlin into a bloody mess. Xenon lets out a sigh of exhaustion as she collapses next to an inert Tera Crystal, checking her wrist mounted PC and marking another Tinkaton down. The entire organization was working themselves to the bone trying to keep this toxic phenomenon under control, she was on her last legs and it seemed like this wasn't slowing down in the slightest, she couldn't be everywhere at once. "What a damn mess. Whoever is doing this, they're doing a fine fucking job running us around in circles. Need to find the source..."

"WHOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOO!!!" Josh cried as Tyrfing kicked up his thrusters in a QUICK ATTACK, turning the Giant Chasm and Area Zero into a giant, natural race course for the Iron Boulder. It gave the young man the same adrenaline rush as being on Raikou, his Raging Bolt. Those Pokémon he wanted to keep under wraps until the time was right, as did he with Swift, his Raikou. With how many people were headed to Area Zero to deal with the Tinkaton that were disrupting operations, it would be too risky to use them.

Bonding with these Pokémon was going to be such a challenge.

There would be time to focus on that later. For now, Hoenn's newest Champion needed to get to the bottom of Area Zero quickly, where the Tinkaton were wreaking havoc. Every turn at speed flung Josh's body to one side, eventually prompting the racer to slow the Iron Boulder substantially. Once his surroundings were no longer a blur, he could see that it was far worse than he could have imagined: many of the Tinkaton had spikes added to the business ends of their hammers, adding gash to smash.

Raising his TERA ORB toward the ceiling, Josh and his mount became surrounded by a pyramid of red crystals. Though the rider himself did not Terastallize, the Iron Boulder's thrusters began to idle more loudly as he became a FIRE-TYPE. Mentally spurring the Sacred Sword forward, his horns serving as the hilt of his blade grew searing hot in a physical TERA BLAST, knocking over a small group of them like bowling pins.

After the two bowled a turkey, Josh mentally relayed to Tyrfing that he needed to retreat; a mild wave of nausea had overcome him. Once they were out of Area Zero, he would need to teleport back to Oldale and have a doctor look at him, as this wasn't the first time this had happened...
