Although there were many, the gremlins and their hammers acted as a single organism. The violet chain that engulfed their weapons appeared to heighten their strength. Their steel-type did not prevent them from being swallowed by the effects of the mochi.

"Finish them," Roy ordered, using a single hand to aim his pokemon towards the target.

As the draconid's charizard was consumed by his own flame, the tera crystals in the vicinity reacted. With the fire-type move acting as the catalyst, Balmung was transformed. Scales were covered in crystals as the reptile felt his fire-type moves empowered by strange rocks of Area Zero.

Like a missile, the dragon collided into the horde of pink, knocking out several pokemon in a single swoop.

"use your bonemerang!" calling to her pokemon, rather than send it's ornamented club to rattle off the head of a tinkaton not once, but twice - a tera blast would spew from the end of the club in order to send their foe falling next to petra and her pokemon.

Bonk. The Tinkaton donked Doug on the head with its mighty Gigaton Hammer. When the bear looked up at the impish creature, it let out a ferocious roar that caused the Tinkaton to drop its hammer. Instead, the fairy was hit with Doug's Hammer Arm, burying it into the ground like a spike.

"Hm." Howard scratched his chin as he looked at the Tinkaton and its now unused hammer. With a grunt, he picks it up. His muscles scream in protest as the admin struggled with the remarkably heavy weapon.

"Huff..." He swung the hammer with moderate might, sending the Tinkaton flying. He clapped Doug on the back as he watched the creature smash into a Tera Crystal. Nailed it. But why here?"

Tera Crystals had been in Littleroot, he remembered. Toxic crystals that had corrupted the space around them. Area Zero was the same. That cave under Route 119 had Tera Crystals as well. That cave had looked oddly similar to Area Zero.

Why had the infection spread here? Either they had brought it into the cave, or...

"They're here." The admin looked at his feet as he came to the same conclusion as Shred Zeppelin. Their dogged chase of this truth had them on different paths, but all paths led to the same place. The strange footprints, the cries deep within the caves, Regirock, the Toxic Chain?

All paths led to Area Zero.

Frustration mounts alongside the growing sickness; each feeding off one another like parasites. He grunts against the fatigue, ducking beneath a hammer-shaped projectile and rolling from the wall it embeds itself into it.

Curiously, the MAKE OF THE WEAPON captures his attention — the wood and ivory meticulously shaped into the weapon — before another sailing weapon forces him on the defensive once more.

"Get them!" He orders his own Tinkaton, though she needed no direction. Even as the words leave dry lips a GIGATON HAMMER is already sending one of her species careening into a nearby home.

Greyson flinches.

"Without damaging the homes!"

His own parents lived here, after all.

When the fight breaks he approaches the hammer once more. With more effort than he'd care to admit — one he blames on the growing illness — Greyson removes it from the wall, further inspecting the odd materials.

"Let's wrap this up," he says to his Tinkaton, tossing the Pokemon the hammer. "Please carry that for me."

Something was up here and he was determined to find out just what that was.

[attr="class","aurelie_body"]A wave of nausea assailed Aurelie as she stared open-mouthed at the swarming infestation of infected Tinkatons emerging from the tera-illuminated depths of Area Zero. Whether the nausea came from having fought through too many of these swarms, though, or if it came from seeing the Tinkatons she was so fond of bearing TOXIC CHAINS, she couldn't begin to guess.

Their appearance here certainly led credence to the theory that these infected Pokemon were spreading out throughout Hoenn via the tera tunnels. There certainly does seem to be a connection between the tera crystals and the TOXIC CHAINS, she reflected, swallowing down another instinct to retch. The Megalopolan spaceship in Route 119 was in a tera cave too, after all... Argh!

That last thought was prompted by the vicious swing of a Tinkaton's hammer. Aurelie only barely managed to duck in time as the hammer, trailing mysterious segments of curling ivy festooned with spiky thorns, whistled above her head and sheared off the tips of some hair. Thankfully, her Armarouge was ready to strike back almost immediately, unleashing a FLAMETHROWER at the maddened hammer wielder. Aurelie felt a sharp pang of remorse as the Tinkaton shrieked in agony as the fire engulfed her, even as the redhead could see the unnatural purple glow in the Pokemon's eyes.

Her fellow female metalsmiths still deserved better than this.

Even now, limp and out of it, its hammer, not itself, but its hammer, clung firmly to it like an outgrowth, the two linked together by macabre chains.

Furthermore, the make of the hammer itself was not normal— not as far as Tinkaton were concerned.

"We... may not be taking this as seriously as we ought to." He muttered to himself, raising his gaze to the chaos around them, fortunately contained to the depths of Area Zero.

For now.

Sweat poured off him as another wave of nausea hit, causing him to reach out and steady himself against a nearby rock. Ahead of him, his Iron Moth dodged silently between several Tinkaton as they swung furiously with their infected hammers.[break][break]

Flames crackled as Iron Moth's fiery dance melted into the Tinkaton as it wove through the horde. One of the Tinkaton hurled it's hammer, though Iron Moth shifted slightly and the hammer only clipped one of its wing panels. Using the toxic chain, it yanked the hammer back and slammed it into the Paradox Pokemon with a resounding clang. Iron Moth flew into a massive tera crystal formation before falling to the ground.[break][break]

Jack reached for a pokeball but another wave of nausea had him hurling onto the stones neck to him. When he looked up, terastallization energies were dissipating around Iron Moth as its surface was coated with a crystalline sheen. Jack's mouth dropped open at the unprompted transformation even as he recalled his pokemon and made a hasty retreat toward other League forces fighting the swarm.

Listen, it's not important how or why the Naito cousins ended up in Area Zero (they were fetching a delivery for the Dojo in Oldale Town). What is important is that some Tinkaton went crazy, they ran into Lutgarde and they got dragged into the whole mess to help. [break][break]
For Knight's part, he insisted he could help since he had both Harrow and Hercules with him today.[break][break]
A shard of something that seemed like a magical crystal (to Kay) appeared all around them and he watched in amazement as Loot Guard's Pokémon changed. Harrow seemed keen to try it out as well so he pointed at the nearest Tinkaton that was headed their way, "Alright Harrow, it's Magical Crystal Girl Time!" His Charcadet suddenly sparkled like she was made from jewels and on top of her head was a candelabra, "Use Flame Charge!" [break][break]
It was normally a pretty decent move for Harrow to use but whatever these crystals were, she seemed more souped-up than normal as she sprinted towards the Tinkaton and collided as a flaming mass. Knight let out a low whistle and shared a look with his cousin. Until he started to cough, almost falling to one knee. Whenever these weird, toxic chained Pokémon appeared, he always felt sick.[break][break]
He fought the sensation and kept an eye out for another Tinkaton to fight.

To help deal with the Tinkaton outbreak in Area Zero, the ambassador brings along a Fire-type Pokemon since her Cyndaquil’s attacks can do super effective damage. She notes the Toxic Chains wrapping around the bodies of the poor Steel-type Pokemon, but subduing them first would priority. A spread of those toxic chained Tinkaton outside to Hoenn would not be good for the other locals of the towns and cities of the region.[break][break]

Cecily the Cyndaquil thinks the same. She uses her flaming back to erupt a series of Lava Plumes that burn the toxic chained Tinkaton and make them easy for the ambassador in her ranger’s uniform to subdue them for the intent of helping to remove the chains off of them.[break][break]

All around the ambassador and her Cyndaquil, both of them notice the Tera Crystals glimmering ominously.

So the Toxic Chain could even infect Steel. To say that was an alarming revelation was an understatement. The type that should've been immune to the Chain, just as susceptible to infestation as any other. The fleshy, corrupting bonds infested the hammers of the Tinkaton.

Mordred, charging the hammer-wielders, began to hack at them with his Bitter Blades. Thanks to his superior mobility, and ability to vanish into the Phantom Force when in a pinch, he was able to outmaneuver, and take out the Tinkaton handily. With his experience from that day in the swamp, Mordred knew to aim to sever the Chains.

Roland bathes in the light of a tera crystal. Fire dances along his blade. They show him a world where he is a fire warrior, walking across hellish infernos to strike at some deadly foe. It is a scorching world, a paradise for a creature like him. He fights alongside a human who cannot behold the brilliance of the tera the way he can.[break][break]
All Navy, Roland’s liege lord, can do is dress himself in gold armor and fight. Holding his hand aloft, he fires aura spheres at oncoming Tinkaton. Their hammers will kill him if they hit home, yet he fights alongside Roland and Arthur. It is reckless and daring.[break][break]
Right until Navy collapses. He is poisoned. The mission parameters change. Roland, bearing his torch-crown, sheathes his blade. Navy is hoisted over a shoulder. One-armed, he must dedicate himself wholly to the task of defense. He makes a mad dash back to Littleroot, leaving this place behind. There, he can find aid for his liege lord.

Crystal crackles overhead as SHADOW LUGIA'S dark hide is encrusted in a kaleidoscope of colour. Though Cillian recognizes the byproduct of TERASTALLIZATION, and it's not the first time he's seen her STELLAR TERA-TYPE, he is confused by the timing. His TERA ORB is clipped to his belt, untouched. He'd been too busy trying to hold in his lunch.[break][break]

If she's equally perturbed, Lugia doesn't show it. Instead, she lets out a cry of challenge as her SPRINGTIDE STORM clashes against a tide of hammer-wielding Tinkaton.[break][break]

Shaky fingers curl around a different orb, the empty LUXURY BALL pitched toward one of the struggling fairies as it tries to right itself. Though it hits, drawing the Tinkaton into the sphere, it breaks apart immediately after.[break][break]

Could just be poor luck.[break][break]

He throws another, this one deflected by the swing of a hammer. A third and fourth have similar results to the first, and though Cillian does not feel in any danger from the Pokémon themselves with Lugia's staunch overwatch, the mounting nausea forces a retreat.[break][break]

In a report he sends to ROCKET, he notes the difficult of their capture. Potentially impossible, he writes, but further follow-up required. Please forward any relevant reports to my desk.

Tinkaton, tiny little pink menaces on their own with no assistance. Now factor in the strange poison that's been going around, the iron like thorns on their hammers and suddenly they're an even bigger nuisance than before. Now also factor in Melody feeling unwell from all these poison chains going around, her sygnasuit really was unable to fend off the poison correctly. [break][break]

However, she was duty bound to respond to the problems that hoenn faced. She sends out her skeledirge, and suddenly it terastalizes with no warning, despite the fact that Melody didn't terastalize it. "What the actual fuck is going on here?!" she whines as suddenly she throws an arm out and just rolls with the punches. A tinkaton rushes towards her skeledirge, attempting to use smack down. [break][break]

However the terastalization enhanced attack of TORCH SONG manages to instantly burn the tinkaton and push it back, burning away the chain as much as it could. "Keep it up!"
