As Lam steps away to catch up on the progress of Pokémon H.O.M.E., Fuji is left to do one of the things he is best at—plant tending. The gentle appletun is seasoned at this exact task, being one of the gym leader’s own garden Pokémon.[break][break]

The appletun moseys among the cluster of growing berry plants, snuffling with his soft snout to the ground for any trace of inhibitors to the growth in the soil. The warm scent of tart apples and cinnamon wafts through the area. It strengthens as the sun climbs higher and brightens. And so Fuji coaxes the plants to RIPEN, lulled by the SWEET SCENT he kicks off before the vitality seeps from his paws and into the shrubbery.[break][break]

Soon more buds bloom on the ends of branches—fuller and more fruitful for the hungry Pokémon that live on the island. Dopey eyes spy a curious emolga nearby, and the appletun snags a fast-grown pecha berry. It rolls across the grass with a nudge from his nose, eager to share the bounty.

Where lam logan's Fuji was made for growing, Simba the Litleo was made for staring. A more and more plump, ripe berries fell from the trees, more and more of the pokemon on the island came forward to share in the bounty.[break][break]

Only, some pokemon were a little less willing to 'share' than others. A few wanted more than could be sustained or were more than happy to bully other pokemon for the harvest. But, you see, that is where Simba came in.[break][break]

His Unnerving stare put them in their place. When a Patrat snatched a Persim from a waiting Happiny's paws, Simba sat his fat ass right down next to the Patrat and leeeeeaned in real close... and stared.... with his wide, round eyes... unblinking... casting shadows over the smaller pokemon.... a vile aura coming from him.....[break][break]

And the Patrat swallowed hard. Then slowly placed the Persim back in the sniffling Happiny's paws.[break][break]

So, Simba leaned back and turned, still blank faced, to find some other offender.

It’s a job that Cider didn’t take lightly. For him, this was very serious. If not, deadly. Head lifted into the air, nostrils flared in an attempt to location said berries to help those pokemon who need it. A light cool breeze washed over his large form, a sweet scent laced within its particles. The Appleton huffed, moving towards the scent. “I think this one found some,” the young female human volunteer called out, chasing the massive creature.

Soon, several wild berries trees in his sight. He let out a victories cry, the young woman who followed him all the way here grinning ear to ear as she began to pluck the berries off the trees and place them into her basket. Cider moved closer to the tree, using his ability RIPEN to make all the berries perfect for harvest as he slammed his large body into the trunk of the tree. Berries rain down upon them, making the young human giggle and cheer. “Thanks! This is great!” Cider let out a grown, waddling to nudge a berry berries in a pile.

Bernadette grumbled from the sidelines of the vast berry field, taking her job as an overseer seriously — but with her usual grouchy demeanor, of course. [break][break]

She was UNNERVING in both stature and attitude as she watched the pickers at their job. There would be no slacking off in her presence, as many Pokémon were want to do in the absence of their trainers. Any would-be work avoiders would be met with a motivating roar and a severe eye.[break][break]

Wouldn't you know it, the URSARING's quadrant ended up being one of the most productive!

Sniffing along through the grass and dirt, Zigzagoon worked to find as many berries as his little nose could. The trees around the island didn't have too many berries sprouted along their branches, but that didn't meant that there wouldn't be plenty to find on the ground to bring back![break][break]
The small brown Pokemon sniffed avidly, finding the sweet scent of a berry coming to his senses. Following the scent, digging through a big of brush with his claws, the small Zigzagoon did in fact find a berry to Pick Up, adding it to the small pile that he had made within the brush and foliage he was searching in.[break]
Anothe berry found, time to see if he could find some more!

Despite being a Flapple, Fuji did not share the same fondness of plants and berries as did its plentiful counterparts back at Thomas Benoit's Duvet Ranch. The closest fruition of its grassy mind was dropping grav apples from the skies on the unsuspecting- and despite the pleas and wishes of its trainer, Fuji had not planned to take them seriously on its little job it was made to go help out with. It sounded much more satisfying to the flappy apple to do a bit of light trolling, perhaps partake in a little food fight or something of that nature.[break][break]

That was, until it caught a glimpse of the supreme fruity overseer, BARNABY FINCH's Bernadette. The look bestowed from the Ursaring about made Fuji shit its apple bottom jeans- no boots or fur included. Bringing it to drop a rotted berry or two it was planning to pelt Yuina Higashi's Zigzagoon with, it squealed and flapped its wings as fast as it could to a nearby tree that had wandered away from the orchard instead.[break][break]

It frantically panted and cried as it gave sloppy kisses to the green fruits that sprouted from the tops of the tree, using its RIPEN ability to bring on a speedy harvest. And to top it all off, it smacked each one afterward with a hint of rage to make them fall so the others could gather them up. Eyeing the overseer with upset, beady eyes every moment or two, it feared acting out would lead to being turned into an apple pie.[break][break]

Oh, how sad it was for its chaotic fruity gremlin brain.[break][break]

the houndour's presence did not make sense for the other pokemon, serving as a method to unnerve those who would think of taking more from the farm.

the pokemon didn't do anything but stand. it manages to catch the eye of one or two pokemon, though it ends up diffusing greed and gluttony from those who want more than their share.

there's something about a dark-type at the garden that scares a few of the simpler-minded pokemon away. it drives them off, leaving only those desperate for food to come close.

the houndour doesn't do anything. the ones that come close get their share and run away. those who plan on getting more have their nerves unnerved, pushing them away from a scenario where the guard retaliates against their wrong doings.

he was a cop dog. it will obviously follow the law and scorch the earth in the case of it being broken.

Does stuffing as many berries as one can fit in their mouth count as helping?[break][break]

Luka’s Dedenne certainly thinks so.[break][break]

The little creature scampers underfoot, her cheeks bulging comically from all the berries she’s crammed into each pouch. Thanks to the team’s efforts, this is a bountiful harvest— so surely no one will notice a few berries missing from the pile, right?[break][break]

However, her antics eventually attract the attention of BARNABY FINCH’s Ursaring, whose unnerving stare has the hamster recoiling in fear. She squeaks out a little apology and drops some of the damp berries into the dirt— useless for harvest, but good enough to plant new trees with.[break][break]

For the rest of the day she plays the dutiful helper, berries carefully clutched in her paws instead of her mouth. But at the end of the day, just before Luka comes to pick her up, her cheek pouch bulges a little more than usual…
