Yuina wasn't one for astrology, it wasn't necessarily her study or an area she'd dabbled in much if at all. But as her life continued to spiral and twist in ways she couldn't control, there was little solace that she could seek. Space, the stars, it all transcended more than she could ever fathom, and in legend and lore, constellations passed down by generations and generations, it was clear that they too worked through time differently. Just like she did.[break][break]
"You've probably seen these stars over centuries and centuries," Yuina spoke aloud as Celebi sat looking up at the night sky in her lap with her. Blue eyes blinked in wonder still, as if it were still the first time he might be seeing it all.[break]
"As trees and forests move, mountains shift and rivers shape the land, as time changes everything around us... The stars continue to watch on. They really might be old enough to witness birth and rebirth in more lifetimes than anything... Except for you maybe."

The stars were plenty. [break][break]

She tucked into the telescope. There were many threats that came from the abyss above, but she could appreciate the beauty. From a distance, of course. Much like the Ultra Deep Sea, she preferred a safe viewing distance because the beauty did not outweigh the violence inside. Necrozma unsettled her deeply, and even Deoxys felt unknowable. [break][break]

Another meteor could come down and wipe them out, ignorant of the in-fighting that plagued the region. More macabre thoughts chased her, but she laid it to rest with a long exhale. The stars were plenty. [break][break]

She was unimaginative in some ways, and this was one of them, but she could still make out the definitive v-shape of one constellation. It had to be the shape of the one that perished all that time ago, the harbinger of victory.

Though military pensions aren’t much, they allowed Lydia to buy this place. The tiny two-bedroom house looks like something out of a fairytale. It oozes charm. The cheery yellow exterior is hilariously at odds with the owner’s cold demeanor. What had once been an eyesore is now a boon to the block. All of this had been bought through her own attempts at home repair.

A task the retired officer had plenty of time to devote to.

While many things attracted her to this place, the finished attic had been the biggest draw. Its large, picturesque window gave access to the sloped roof.

A blue-and-white blanket—surprisingly soft in pattern and design—protects her from the scrape of scalloped roof tiles. A cold metal head is pushed against her own crown. The Iron Valiant’s screens reflect the night sky. Nearby, there’s a familiar man with a bottle of wine. A Gallade perches at the edge of the roof.

“At least the skies stay the same.” Stargazing reminded her that there was still beauty in this wartorned place.

The stars.

The one thing they had yet to conquer-- for now. Grigori could rest easy knowing that the conflict of war had yet to delve into the expansion of space. Alien worlds were close, but there was something.... wholistic about their own world and their own stars. The vastness, near infinity it represented. An unknown that felt natural, and homed so much potential.

Yet so much destruction at the same time.

He was back in Area Zero, in the Giant Chasm. Light pollution could not corrupt the area sufficiently to block out the thousands of twinkles present. Clinging his shoulders was the red coat granted to him by . Even with all their troubles, it was impossible to deny its warmth. Yet it did little to stop the cool air from invading his nostrils and lungs, mixed with the smell of frigid nature and the start of frost.

But he was not alone, surprisingly.

"This is boring," June said as she messed with her phone. She rested against Violet, who rested its eyes gently alongside Aggron. Two kindred souls, unbound by their humans and allowed to do what they did best: take advantage of the night.

"May I recommend not playing your mobile games and enjoying the view?"

"... Fine, whatever, you get five minutes," she shoved the device into her pocket and crossed her arms huffily. Air visibly escaped her lips and caught the natural glow of her mismatched eyes. "Well, what's that one?"

Grigori did his best to follow her sudden finger, but it pointed into literal space. "Can you please be a little more specific?"

"The circle one, big glowing star at the top. Kinda looks like a Tortuga."

"Well, that's probably because..." he paused. Then, his head tilted. "Huh."

"What, you said you knew these things like the back of your hand."

"And it looks like I was wrong," he said calmly. Since when had that been there?

one of alina's small joys was stargazing. it was one of her favorite activities during a late shift at the lighthouse, the stars acting as her sole company. it brought her comfort knowing that from the beginning of time, long before human invention, people were guided home, thanks to the stars that fought light years to be here. [break][break]

it reminds her just how wonderful it is to be alive. [break][break]

the universe seems to align with her today, gifting her a quiet night shift and with it, a chance to reunite with old friends. the woman excuses herself from the base, dipping outside with her ampharos tagging closely behind. [break][break]

it's a clear sky. alina swears that the stars are glowing extra brightly tonight, as if they were welcoming her back into their embrace. she smiles softly, leaning against her arms as she studies the intricate patterns. she's not an expert on constellations by any means, but years of stargazing has done her some good within that realm. [break][break]

she squints, making out a certain shape right above the tree line. she'd have to double check later to see if her memory served her right.

Having traced the skies to track the constellations she'd found in a dream, she notices the difference as she retraces it once more. The titan no longer slumbering peacefully in a cave. A new titan found next to it. Creatures of ruin not quite tearing apart a kingdom and its earth below...[break][break]

Her eyes drift towards the strangest constellation, WlTr. World turtle, is the title that comes to mind. Reminds her of the story her mother had once told her about the barriers between pokemon and humans in the past - How the world turtle had met a young girl and befriended her. How that had resulted in her death at the hands of her fellow people and how the world turtle had flooded the world with his tears.[break][break]

The Unown that surround this turtle hint that they may not be referring to the same legend. After all, those funky little bits of alphabet soup seem to be the very foundation for the rules of this world. The need for them to watch this unknown creature signifies that there may be another large problem lurking upon the horizon. Another that can make or break this region even further.[break][break]

And she sighs, charting the stars on yet another page to compare how they have changed.[break][break]

There is something to be said about the starry sky, though Vespa is nothing if not ... well, not articulate enough to capture the deeply fascinating, vaguely horrifying, and ethereal beauty of such a phenomena that occurs every night, and yet, not quite. There is something to be said about it, but even as she grew up in Mossdeep City, her own sentiments for the night are within the realms of a constant partner for last-minute clutches when it comes to homework and assignments. In fact, she should probably not even see the night sky as much, and yet ...[break]

As she stretches and yawns, her gaze directs itself towards the cosmic endless just outside of her window, a dreadful of loneliness coming over her. But there are the familiar stars, twinkling in this surprisingly clear night sky, giving respite as they march on ... and she thinks she can decipher something familiar, too, amidst the black-and-white-dotted image, Legendaries she just read about for class next time. What were their names again? Za- ... Zamazenta and Zacian? Something like this? Hmm ... but she has no clue about whatever else there may be, down or below.

Lavinia has loved the night sky for as long as she can remember, loved lying beneath it and trying to find patterns in the stars before she ever knew what they were or that there was much more out there. Now that she's grown up and studying Ultra Space, her love for the stars has not faded.

Quite the opposite, it's only gotten stronger, as gazing at them reminds her of the precious time she spent doing so with her family — with her Dad especially —, of camping trips and visits to Mossdeep Space Center.

Her backyard in Petalburg City is much humbler than a proper observatory, of course, and her old telescope needs replacing. In fact, it'd be easier to do this online.

It's nostalgia that brings her out to the porch instead. That, and longing. She hopes that her father is looking up at this same sky tonight, wherever he may be.

UPDATE FOR THE FIRST ROUND


BELOW IS AN UPDATE OF THE STAR CHART. The constellations that have been solved can be seen with their connecting lines.

Discrepancies that have been discovered:
  • Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza are in their Primal Reversion/Mega formes.

  • "★Prsm" is in a never before seen forme (though some may have seen depictions of it in Lesser Megalopolis).

  • "★Symb" (Unown) are not present in this constellation. Instead, they seem to have been replaced by "★SwRn, ★VeRn, ★TaRn, & ★BeRn".

Errata:
  • The disembodied hand used is incorrect, but you're on the right track.

  • "★JnVr" is the correct Pokemon/Ultra Beast, but currently your guesses don't have it aligned properly with the stars.

after all this time, even when she has the comforts of her home to return to, she drifts. the part of her that is always moving, that cannot settle, takes her here sometimes. 

low-hanging clouds gather as a fog atop the pillar. rayquaza lay mostly coiled beside her, golden irises fixated on the swath of winking black above them. her stepmother was always the romantic, speaking in silver tongues about the heavens while she squirted paint over her canvas. freya and theodore were more inclined to discuss aerial combat. 

rayquaza's scales are warm and rough under her hands. she rests her shoulders against them and watches them as they stare. she doesn't say anything. they've come to an understanding and yet there are times, like now, when she feels so unremarkable and small. 

the soft trill that escapes them surprises her. the stars are hundreds of burning balls of gas lightyears away from them; they mean nothing, except when she turns her head, and she squints, and she thinks were those your people? were they mine?

as she looks, really looks, more shapes come together. the air chills. her gold-seamed fractures pulse and memories of snow and an acrid, toxic world flung into the past, press up against her. she begins to make out the shape of it - cruel and horrible claws - and rayquaza lowers their head with a growl. 

"they're just stars," she whispers, though the unease stays, haunting them both.

There was no genuine heart in the golem's breast like its sibling, thus its words were slow and ponderous. Even despite the forefather's will etched into it, a tin soldier that marches without a heart cannot grow one overnight. It was a worrisome thought, and one that Howard himself had realized in Dewford.

The admin, meanwhile, was arguing with Regice.

He sets up at first as a way to take a few cute outfit pics for the week. A day getting ready to go stargazing? With a matching outfit and perfectly placed camera, right at golden hour? Easy money. But then the sun sets, and Mint is left alone. He sits on a grassy knoll, strangely familiar. It's not the same as before. The hill's missing the smell of street food and sweat. Or the sound of dozens of other carnival goers milling around before the summer fireworks. [break][break]

Even now he can hear the echoed laughs and the dull roar of the people chatting around. It fades when he refocuses misty eyes on a distraction. The cheap telescope he'd gotten offline and the star chart he'd printed out hours ago. He sniffs hard, squeezing his eyes shut for a moment and breathing in deep. [break][break]

The stars. They're odd. And what exactly was all the fuss about?

He looks over the constellations he's supposed to be seeing. It takes him some time/ He's not an astronomer after all. But eventually, he finds the strange set meant to be a cloud like creature. And the hand...? Mint held up his own, trying to figure out how. The moonlight glints off a pair of golden rings and he freezes. The flash of recognition- From CYBERCHASE- From RKS with . "OH- Oh shit wait!" he burst out scrambling to grab some scrap paper and attempting to draw it out. "It- Is it talking about these damn things-? Didi!" In a flash the Unown D is at his side as he tries to show the little beast. It probably knew best right. But, well, Unown weren't the best at communicating. Not with anybody that wasn't anyway. But he can still text her. [break][break]

He sees a streak, like a pikachu's tail, or the zig-zag of a Hoennian rodent. But it remains incomplete. He shifts his perspective, orienting himself differently beneath the starsweald...[break][break]

It's as if six dotted eyes peer down at him. From within the scatters of light, he sees a tian's likeness hidden within. Like a mural of creation's aspects. There must be others, if he looks hard enough... They are not forthcoming.[break][break]

But it was an enjoyable, if futile exercise.[break]
