Nervously, did Rose's boots clamp onto the dirt road, her outfit looking every bit as calculated as she needed it to, but today was a special day. Instead of her typical confident demeanor, Rose Blackwood was incredibly nervous. The kind of nervous that had her pulling out a hand mirror to constantly look at her face. Every minute or so.
Her hair looked fine, having been done at a Mauville salon recently thanks to money from a recent mission. Her outfit, instead of the skin-tight suit was more relaxed, a cuter look than she was used to. She chose something mature, preparing for hours from salon, to boutique, and finally here. To say she spent damn near five hours getting ready for today would be an understatement. All because of one person.
Serena Malcolm happened to send her an invite to this picnic, promising good food and a good time. To a normal person, yes, a picnic would be fun. However, Rose took it in the romantic sense.
"It's totally a date. Right, Snapdragon?" Rose kept checking her mirror, her Pokemon companion for the night, a Hakam-O caught by an associate she met at Meteor Falls. There was a yes of a headshake from the scally dragon.
This had been their dynamic all night, making Rose a hot mess. Her speaking of what would happen, and Snapdragon being an honest yes man because she didn't quite understand what a date was, or attraction. Or anything in that category. Normally, that wouldn't affect Rose so much, and she'd take it in stride. She felt her face redden harder, her cyan blue hair threatening to move out of place.
BUZZ BUZZ! Rose was startled by the sudden vibration of her phone, making a squeak, with the phone hitting the grass nicely on its back. A message had come from Serena. A photo message.
Calming herself down, she placed a hand on her chest.
"I shouldn't be so flustered! I've received a promotion just recently! It's just a friendly outing with a friendly coworker, right Snapdragon?" NOD NOD. Snapdragon would agree with whatever Rose said. She got to stretch and exercise her muscles a bit, so why not! Her master was a strange one though! Getting so flustered.
"You're right, Snapdragon! It's just a friendly-" Rose picked up the phone, and unlocked it.
Rose's face puffed a shade more red. That wasn't a dress from a friendly outing. Nor was Rose's, for that matter.
"It's definitely a date." Rose slapped at her face. She hadn't exactly done this before. Ever. Like, at all. She had been so laser-focused on finding Luna, and doing whatever job she had to that she never had any time to just... be a girl. It all seemed to catch up to her really quick. Before she even knew it, she had arrived at the picnic area.
"Pull yourself together, Rose. Relax... it's just an outting with a friend. Don't think about it." She looked one more time at her mirror.
Two slaps to her cheeks, and there it was. Resting bitch face Black Rose. Badass bitch Rose who doesn't need anything, and took no shit. There was sweat trickling down the nape of her neck. It was a facade, but she was trying to convince everyone around her. Snapdragon merely smiled her direction, following behind. Grabbing a
small bag of rainbow Oricorio popcorn, she handed it to Snapdragon to hold, the scally beast throwing the entire bag into her mouth as the duo walked to the tree from the selfie photo.
Holding her demeanor as well together as she could, she saw Serena sitting at her spot. All of this had been really thoughtful. Delicious looking food, drinks specially made for them, a spot they could both enjoy each other's company, a stereo.
This is totally a date.
"Hello, Serena." Internally she was a mess, but outwardly, she gave her signature confident bravado, with a dab of probably definitely arrhythmia getting to her. Swaying her hips to the side, she placed one hand on them, and gave a flirty comment.
"You did all of this for me? How thoughtful." Her glossy lips gave that lovely curve.
To the perceptive, she was quaking in her black boots.
