and they're off! all the trainers converged on this one location, hoping to capture a Pokémon or two. Alice was no exception to this. any time a water-type appeared, or an ice-type, she was there. still relatively new to the MOBA game, hearing about it in passing... well...

she just did her best to please the Inteleon swarm. she rushed to defend goals instead of scoring for herself, blocking. Alice was a team player and she knew scoring wasn't her strong suit. "head's up!" but -

she did try to score once. the ball sailed into the air and in the net. "ohmygosh!" she shocked herself.

Eve sighed. Then, she put the phone down. Somehow, she just did not get it. The people at the community center had told her that this weird Unite game was the hottest stuff right now and that everyone was playing it. But she just could not see the appeal. What was the point in playing the same map over and over, trying to get your Pokemon to the same weird ring and probably lose to someone way higher level or with much more experience? What was the value of gathering experience with such a small roster of Pokemon, when there were hundreds of species outside? Yeah, she just didn’t get it.

Then again, Eve was not much of a gamer herself. She’d just given it a try because people seemed so focused on it.

….apparently to the point where they had not noticed a horde of Pokemon taking over the basket ball court. There was some kind of deeply societal commentary here, but she was too confused by the sight to go there. Instead, she just watched them play, forgetting about the weird phone game. Instead, she would eventually sneak in a throw of the ball, to see if she could get one of those water Pokemon she knew very little about. No harm no foul if it didn’t work. She probably wasn’t the only one doing this, anyway.

Was Football experience enough to play well at basketball? Hideo didn’t know, but he let his Cinderace loose and play with Inteleons that had taken to the basketball court. Type advantage be damned, his Cinderace was giving them pretty intense competition, considering none of them had any idea of how to deal with someone dribbling with their feet.

“Dunk on’em, Messi!” Hideo shouted. He didn’t know if his Pokemon was anywhere near one of the baskets - fortunately he was. With a mighty leap, he jumped over all the Inteleons, right towards the basket. He kicked the ball right into the basketball hoop - loud enough that Hideo could hear it from all the way where he was sitting.

Genesis wasn’t really the sport type. She wasn’t against them or refused to part take in them, they just never got her interest. What did get her interest though, was a rumor of a shiny pokemon at the court. Although it wasn’t her normal type of creature, she could probably sell one to get something she wanted instead if she managed to catch one.

With that, the trainer traveled to the location of t he court. Her green eyes watched as several other attempted to make the shot. Apparently if someone makes the spot, the could capture said pokemon. This kind of reminded her of this game she heard about balled Pokemon Unite. Never seen it or played it before but has heard of the new game. It seemed okay.

Shrugging her shoulders, the woman got in line to try. And when it was her turn, she made a half decent attempt to make it in.

inteleon were smart.

smart enough to wait for the god damn tank to walk in first, and wait for a snorelax to maybe block the way so that other pokemon wouldn't be able to dunk on it prematurely. truthfully, a pokemon like that was desirable for her, especially because she hadn't really seen it in the climate of where she came from. the exoticness and foreign feeling that it gave was appealing to her.

and so, she didn't hesitate to throw a pokeball at the swarm, attempting to aim at a peculiarly coloured lizard.

the idea of prince seeing pokemon playing basketball was far-fetched, even if they had heard about the concept of it from that new game? pokemon unite, maybe?

they didn't even want one of these pokemon, honestly- but that wasn't about to stop them from tossing a pokeball into the hoard of them. if they did catch one, they could probably find some purpose for it. and if they didn't...oh well. it wouldn't be much of a loss on their end.

It was—absolutely bonkers, the way everyone was descending on the Slateport Park and watching the Inteleon match at the basketball court.

It kind of reminded him of this one game he’d seen a lot of people playing recently… what was that called again? Pokémon Unite, or something like that?

It was basically (at least to him) a reskinned game, only replacing all the characters with Pokémon pixels.

Snorting softly, he hobbled as close to the horde as possible without being seen, letting everyone else rush ahead while taking up the rear like some rearguard support unit.

And then, he threw a Pokéball.

they were ready to rumble as the people said. though for what they weren't really sure. other than a neat looking pokemon or something? they were pretty sure that was what was going on now. homura barely had a slowpoke in this race but they weren't going to let that stop them as they tossed a pokeball at the pretty lizard thing. they'd never seen that sort of pokemon but it would be neat to show Eris Halla if they got it.

Walking up on the court to witness the Inteleon swarm that'd taken over, Derek was reluctant to try and catch one out of worry that it would make his Sobble jealous. Though what he didn't know couldn't hurt him, right?

So instead of a pseudo family reunion, the trainer decided to let out his Machamp, an all-rounder when it came to sports and fitness. His frame wasn't as tall, but he more than made up for it with pure athleticism. And maybe a little talent. Just a little.

Roaming onto the court while Derek stays behind, Randal sizes up his opponents, lurking until it was his turn to shine. A perfectly timed block caught the opposition off-guard, even knocking them to the ground. Using this oppurtunity, Derek decided to toss a pokeball...

As usual making sure that no trainer went overboard with catching while at the same time making sure the swarm didn't try to attack the people who came to visit and see them. Meanwhile Salem was playing some new hit game that Razz just couldn't wrap his head around. [break][break]

Said it would Unite you and your pokemon, but all they did was fight which didn't make sense because why not just do a normal battle then. "Oh, my," Chryssa said, suppressing a peal of childlike laughter as she pointed at the television screen.

Her parents paid her no heed-- they barely looked up from their books. The television was a new addition to her mother and father's house-- after sixteen years of insisting TV programs would corrupt her mind, they had finally purchased one solely to watch Chryssa's Hoenn Contest performances. It felt alien, an outsider from the modern world.

Chryssa was watching basketball.

"They're marvelously tall. I mean, confident," Chryssa said, watching the spindly blue lizards take the court. The people who had been playing windmilled their arms as they slipped in puddles of water, more Inteleon taking advantage of their distraction to steal the ball.

Chryssa was already dialing someone on her Foundation Phone. She held it to her ear, earning an uneasy glance from her mother. The cell phone was another new addition to the household, given for practicality purposes by her sponsorship company. "Hello, yes, how near are you to Slateport Park? Something hilarious is happening there. Yes, let me know what you can do. ... oh, naturally, I'd love one."

It gave her immense satisfaction that, even from Sinnoh, she could influence the southern region. Everyone who was anyone and every camera was trained on Slateport City right now-- it wasn't crazy to think someone might pick up an Inteleon for her.

Zac had never played, or even heard of Pokemon Unite, but he had heard of basketball. "Pass me the rock, mates!" Zac said. The tall, tall Inteleon turned to him, recognizing his potential purely because of his size. Just like the lizards, Zac towered over the community ball players.

One of the Inteleon shot Zac the ball, and he bounced it a few times, getting use to the weight. "Hey okay. I reckon I've got the hang of it, okay check this one out!" Zac said, dribbling poorly as he approached the hoop.

Moving faster and faster, the Inteleon started to get excited. Was this giant a true challenger? Their frills raised in excitement, and they swarmed him like a pack of raptors, chirping and hissing as they came for Zac's ball. Zac elbowed one away, shoved another, and turned his back to the oncoming horde, breaking a dozen rules as he dribbled backwards, fast approaching the hoop.

An Inteleon on a nearby grassy knoll followed his approach, and lined up the shot. As Zac launched himself through the air he soared, flew even, for seconds that felt like hours. A HYDRO PUMP flicked Zac out of the Dunk-Zone and sent him tumbling across the rough surface of the court. The ball had already left his hand, propelled in its fateful arc by the softest of touches.

Felled Inteleon watched from the ground, eyes wide as they rubbed their bruises. Sobble drooled in slack-jawed awe. The sniper lined up for another shot. And the ball...

Sports aren't really Luka's thing...she likes tennis well enough, but basketball? Ech. But her pokemon seem to be getting into the swing of things! Her Buneary and Musharna in particular unite to create the ultimate tag team! Maybe it's cheating, but Plum uses her psychic abilities to float the ball towards Bonbon, holding it in the perfect position for the little bunny to make some sick dunks. [break][break] It's an adorable scene! Luka snaps a few photos and choice videos of her Pokemon ducking and weaving amongst the Inteleon and uploads them all to her social media. As she browses through it she spots a few advertisements for a new moba game...pokemon unite? Maybe she'll check that out later- she always has liked games more than most physical sports!
