YOU AWAKEN



Steam hisses as you break free of your containment. The sudden and harsh light blinds you all. However you escape- be it force, ingenuity, patience, or kindness- your fates are all the same.[break][break]

Twenty three black, metal tubes. They're about the size of coffins, just big enough for adult bodies. Twenty one people stand in this room. Curiously, two of the tubes are empty. One, like it never had anything inside at all. The other, as if it was ripped open from the outside, whoever was inside taken.[break][break]

Something nearby drips.[break][break]

Looking ahead, you see a plain room. The light is low and has a fluorescent hum. There is a large, metal shudder along the wall. Some type of trapdoor is on the ground, a thick metal manhole cover on top. Next to the metal shudder is a metal ladder, leading up to some type of trapdoor above.[break][break]

Most curious of all is some type of terminal. The screen is lit up but you can't make out what it says from here. There is a large, standard keyboard in front of it along with many additional buttons. Some type of hatch looks like it opens into the circuitry.[break][break]

Looking to the right gives you few clues. There is a board screwed into the wall, looking quite secure. Since all of your pockets are empty and none of you are super humans right now- it would be very hard, if not impossible, to tear it down with your bare hands. The words are written in small lettering. You'd have to get closer to know what it says.[break][break]

To the left, you see a plain metal door. There is a small window covered with glass that looks to the other-side. It seems dark, though, so you would need to get closer to try and get a peek inside.[break][break]

There is something red leaking from under the door.

They're watching.

An unfamiliar place greeted her, with twenty-three such containers in total surrounding her like strange, peculiar coffins; however, those that had emerged from them were not necessarily as unfamiliar. "Arceus help us," she whispered, her hand reaching for a phantom Pokeball that -- she knew, she already knew -- was not there.[break][break]

A sense of being caged, observed, mocked -- all this drew Elisabeth's gaze to the sea of endless eyes overhead, all staring down at her with unblinking, unfeeling scrutiny.[break][break]

A dream, perhaps? A nightmare, more like.[break][break]

NIGHTMARE.

The ever mysterious glossary that resides within his mind tells tales of horror and dread, a single word ringing loud and clear. A warning? His instincts reacting to the situation he suddenly finds himself in? Perhaps, but when Mars opens his eyes and steps out of the tank, the place he finds himself in is unlike any nightmare he has encountered in the past – not those that steal away his sleep, nor those that have been all too real and appalling. Well, except for one thing…

He sees them before he even bothers to look at the people around him: the eyes. Countless. Looking down upon them. So much alike the eyes of the monster beneath the church ruins. Hadn’t they left all that behind? Had it found them again? Chased them here?

The fact that someone like is here seems to almost confirm as much, the sight of the champion suddenly bringing reminders of everything that happened down at that dark pyramid. , , , , , … They all had also been at the church ruins, but somehow, in an impossible to explain way, this feel different. "Luka, Eris, are you alright?" The question is asked with actual concern, and if only for a few seconds, his gaze lingers on the Rocket Underboss as if to ask the same, but for now no words are exchanged in this situation where they can’t trust everyone around them.

He looks at the rest, recognizing people like the new Elite Four member , and even and , but most importantly…

”Barnaby? Elisabeth? Summer?” What are people like , , and doing here? Most of those around him are expected given what happened before, but them? And, honestly, what is he doing here? Why all of them?

Mars takes a deep breath, pushing the questions away when they threaten to overtake.

”Arceus. Let’s just get out of here.” The mention of the Original Pokémon’s name still leaves a bitter taste in his mouth after everything that happened under the church ruins in Ever Grande, but Mars pushes past that feeling too, then reaching into his pockets only to find nothing at all. No phone. No Luxury Balls. No handy pocket knife. Nothing.

He sighs this time, a hand brushing through tousled brunette hair until resting at the nape of his neck.

”Alright.” After one quick and proper look at their surroundings, he settles on approaching the terminal and its keyboard, because in his experience with similar situations, that could probably unlock their way out…

Dreams have always been such a pleasant thing for Cefin - positive or at least barely there. He'd never been one for deep, nasty nightmares, even as a young child when those things came much easier. He'd never been frightened by the dark and the things that lurked within, nor things that crept and crawled, nor drowning or heights. So why did this nightmare feel so deep and real, and why could he walk around and feel things the way he could while awake? A night terror - had he eaten something strange? Was this because he'd stayed up so late working on that paper?[break][break]

He's here with faces he recognises and faces he doesn't, but he still feels watched beyond how he might in a crowd like this. There's something else, and it pulls him to look up into the glaring pupils of a thousand eyes lining the ceiling. He stares, wide-eyed, back at them for a moment before forcing himself to tear his gaze away.[break][break]

"Golly..."[break][break]

Cefin surveys the room slowly, and his hand moves to his belt to release a pokémon - muscle memory - but there's nothing there to grab. He looks down, pats at his pockets... it's all gone. Not helpful.[break][break]

"...Does anybody remember how we got here?" He asks out, to nobody in particular, though notices and among the crowd, two of his new acquaintances from the speed dating. "You're here too? How strange..."[break][break]

He wanders absentmindedly to the door. It seems a good enough place to start, right? If they're lucky, perhaps it'll unlock and everybody can wake up and go back to their slumbering.[break][break]

Before reaching the door, though, he tilts his head, kneels and inspects the deep red liquid that pools from the small gap underneath. Science was always about jumping in head-first, surely, for the power of knowledge? He rolls up a sleeve and dips his finger into the wetness, bringing it back up to smell.

It’s a scary dream, but like a slow burn kind of scary. Unnerving, tense. Something he could change for the better maybe. There was a chance he could make this a happy dream, a sweet dream. The room is crowded, populated with familiar and unfamiliar faces. He wondered if this was just his dreams or…maybe something weird in Hoenn again, like a swarm of munna and musharna on rampage. Whatever the case, this is the most lucid dream he’s ever had. [break][break]

He scanned the crowd, before looking at their surroundings, and finally looking up. The many eyes are a shock, and shivers ran up his spine. He flinched, looking away before tentatively looking back to the ceiling. “Weird.” He murmured before setting his sights on the shutter and then the ladder that led up to a latch in the ceiling. [break][break]

With no signs of immediate danger, he moved towards it ready to climb. “I wanna see if that opens.” He said airily as he passed by his friend. “hey , I’m counting on you to catch me if I fall.” He added with a small laugh. He looked back up at the ceiling wondering if it was just a flat surface of the equivalent of sticking your hand in a bowl of peeled grapes. He began to climb, knuckles turning white as he clung to the bars of the ladder. Eventually, the grunt made his way to the top before looking over the hatch. He would try to open it, fiddling for a bit. Whether or not it opened didn’t matter. His attention still on the ceiling, Mint would attempt to reach a finger to an eyeball and touch it with sick curiosity. [break][break]

The first thing that she saw when she opened her eyes was darkness. Then, there was a blinding light, threatening to split her head in two as it ached.

Summer sat up, rubbing her head and groaning quietly as she adjusted, looking around. And then, it truly hit her.

She wasn't in Mauville City. Hell, she wasn't at 's place or somewhere with , the only other places she could imagine she'd wake up to randomly at this point.

This was strange. Unfamiliar. Dangerous.

Suddenly, there was a feeling of unease and tension building in her as she placed her hands on the sides of the walls and stood, walking out. That's when she saw it.

Red, seeping from the door. Two spots empty from other capsules.

"Did someone get murdered? Was there twenty three of us, and we lost one already?" Summer thought to herself, looking around the room.

Then she saw the eyes, staring into her soul. She stared back, her face pale as fear overcame her. That's when she heard him.

"Mars. Oh Arceus. Barnaby?"

Why were both of them here too?

Locke hit the ground as the tube finally swung open, scrambling to his feet and moving as far from his metal prison as physically possible. The fresh air hit him like a Brutal Swing from a Bewear, and he nearly choked trying to swallow as much of it as possible, taking in his new surroundings in quick, wild glances. There was the ever-constant feeling of being watched, but from somewhere above him rather than below, and when he made the mistake of looking up the ceiling looked back.

He stumbled back until he was pressed up against one of the many replicas in the room, flinching at the sharp poke of shattered metal at his back. The tube behind him was broken, as though torn apart from the outside. The mystery of it was a welcome distraction from the horrors above, and he bent down to inspect a few pieces of black metal at the base of the device as the rest of the prisoners also escaped.

Twenty-one people in total emerged into the room, stepping from one cage to another. The small crowd was mostly made up of strangers, but as the initial panic settled somewhere in their gut Locke began to pick out the handful of familiar faces among them.

, , and were easily spotted, their eyes lingering on their fellow Augurs for a brief moment before taking in the rest of the group. The presence of some more notable League members like and put them slightly more at ease, and was that Pokkenger? They somewhat recognized one of the girls from the meetup in Slateport, and even and his hookup from the Christmas party, of all people.

Locke’s hand itched, and their gaze at last landed on the small figure of , almost invisible within the crowd. Just past her, however, stood , a sight which nearly sent them into another spiral of panic. For a moment, they stayed frozen where they were stooped next to the broken tube, but it was the absence of Eris' vigilant Luxray guardian that pushed them forward to join her, pocketing the fragments and pointedly ignoring the Rocket admin in the hopes that he might do the same.

Sheer willpower holds back the tide of panic as long fingers press and glide against the confines of some metal prison. When it opens with a hiss of steam escaping, Gavin steps warily into the room. Undisguised, and not alone.

At the sight of prominent League operatives such as and and especially , the Harbinger calls upon his patron's power to flood the room. Only... nothing. Panic grips him with cold fingers at the base of his spine. A hand slips to his belt in search of his pokeballs, a knife, anything.... but there is only the feel of leather and fabric against his scarred palm.

Lugia? But if she hears, there is no response. A buzzing drone where there had once been comfort.

His jaw clenches. His muscles tense, fingers curling into a fist. The one thing that could not be taken — the fight, and the will to live.

He catches staring, frozen in fear, and dips his head.

I am not the one you need fear.

Not today.

He sees the subtle nod gives him, locks eyes with the admin but doesn't return it for fear of others recognizing their familiarity. Who among this place could be trusted? There are other Rocket operatives, plenty, but can he risk exposing them to the League?

It's the drip that draws his attention. Steady, constant, threatening.

We had better not be underwater. Fear makes it hard to breathe.

Anxious, though doing his best to conceal it, he turns away from others and begins to look for the source of the sound.

he remembers writing. the mechanical whir of the motel's cheap box fan. the glow of sherlock's flame, as they rested as always at the side of his desk. the unfamiliar sounds of hoenn, coming in through his open window.

as nagi stumbles out of the tube into the room, part of him is still there, in that still room. he clings to that singular quiet thought, as the rest of his brain bursts into white noise. his eyes flicker about. who are these people - are those eyes - where am - what is - is that blood? filtering in through the fog of his thoughts, he's aware of voices; panicked conversation going on around him, the sound of a child's cry (what is a child doing here?); and the oppressive weight of many gazes, weighing down on him.

before he's realised it, he's squatting down on the floor, breath held and curling forward as if to hide himself from view. head between his knees, he comes within arms reach of the trapdoor on the ground.

he's not thinking, when reaches for the manhole cover and tugs on it.

Chryssa opened her eyes, a callback ringing through her mind.

I'm only here to assuage my guilt in the unfortunate incident that destroyed this church...

She opened her eyes. She'd been in the dark for a long time. She'd noticed earlier, but old habits died hard. It was easier to be like a sword in a scabbard, dormant, waiting to be drawn.

...So when the world drew her, she emerged from her pod like a ghost from a casket, like a maiden from a marriage bed, like a song from a broken egg. She rose to her feet, a strange feeling of displacement twisting in her gut.

Make a dramatic entrance...

She didn't want to. She wanted to carve through a sky full of eyes without fear for her living body. She wanted to excel. She wanted to be better.

The young woman felt at her hip for her weapon, but found none. The feeling of sickness intensified. I'm alone, she thought. Then--

Are you really? she thought back.

Chryssa's eyes tugged to the four Augurs, once united by the Destiny Bond from Muir's blade. The Bond had shattered, but their keepers remained. Red, . White, . Black, . 

It wasn't a question of what it meant. It was clear they had some destiny to fulfill. Once, that might have stirred rebellion in Chryssa's mind. Now, she felt only a mild interest, as if from a casual reader who wanted to know what happened on the next page. 

Trying to brush off lingering doubts, she stood up and crossed the crowded room, leaving footprints in the red liquid was examining before standing up on her tiptoes to check the room beyond. Her breath coalesced on the dim window. 

"You can chat among yourselves," her voice came, somber and detached. "But I'd keep your panic down. Those who crack now will be the first to fall." She glanced back at and .

"And those who falter—" A small, too-bright smile appeared on Chryssa's face. "—will be the first to crack."

It'd been a while since his dreams were more than a sheet of black. For years, the concept of dreaming had been lost to him, as only a few snickers and words could break the silence between night and day. But today that changed.

Panic swallowed down like bile, Felix immediately put his brute strength to test, pushing his full body and more against the metal prison that confined him. Eventually, it gave in to his blows, opening up with a stream of hissing steam and creaking metal. Cautious eyes immediately took to surveying his surroundings. , , , ,?

The collage of familiar faces contributed to the blurring of the line between reality and fiction, as his mind couldn't wrap around a singular reason that would bind them here. These attempts of comprehension, however, came to a halt when two other faces appeared within view: and .

Fuck.

With a hard sniff, the ANVIL general warily moved towards , offering only a nod and wave to the rascal on the ladder. There were more than a few people he wanted to keep a close eye on, but above all else, he felt the most responsible towards her in particular. "You okay?"

it's subtle at first, nothing more than eyelids twitching. and then, she's gasping for air, darkness bleeding into intense light. spots dance in fuzzy clumps of black along her vision. and for a moment, she forgets where she is. bright light reminds her of hospital beds, of water blades carving deep into flesh, and her skin ignites with phantom pain from nightmares not present.

it passes in slow seconds, ticking by until pain retracts its claws from her nerve endings and fades into the recesses of the mind.

in that moment, when she opens her eyes once more, she expects to see curling wisps of pink mist. and yet, there's nothing. huh... odd.

her body tenses. concentration etches into facial features and still... nothing.

a new sense of panic dawns slowly the longer she tries. by the time she's bolting up from her opened box, it's crashing into her entire being with a vengeance. her body trembles as cogs in the mind desperately try to connect pieces together in a puzzle.

the answer never comes. instead, her saving grace is a familiar face.

she's reaching for him as he nears, pretending her fingers aren't shaking like leaves in a gust of wind. his calmness is an anchor against her panic. and without really considering otherwise, her hand seeks his own.

"i," she starts, stops, and swallows. "yes. are you?" it's a lie but she deflects onto him, eyes dropping to scan him once over.

her eyes stop at the floor. and there, they linger. a familiar shade of liquid seeps across tiles on the floor. she steps closer to 's side without a second thought. her body shivers with the prickling sensation of eyes all over her body.

she chalks it up to anxiety for now.

Aster practically jumps out of the metal prison, no subtlety lost there. He covers his eyes against the bright light that immediately blinds him and hears steam hissing from all around as others breakout. As his eyes adjust to the offending light he can't stop himself from glaring upwards because what the fuck kind of LEDs- Oh. A shiver runs through him at the grotesque sight. He reaches a hand for his pokeball in an split-second defensive reflex. Oh. Again. Its just a nightmare. Just a nightmare he tells himself, but frankly, he isn't sure.

He takes in the people around him. Most of them are unfamiliar to him but he spots and offers a tentative wave. Maybe his subconscious was offering a small reprieve by supplying him with a friendly face he'd recently encountered. As people begin to fan out, approaching others or testing the environment around them, Aster decides to give the metal shutter a good, strong shake. He becomes distracted however when he catches a glimpse of another familiar face. He can't quite place it, but there's something about his hair and stature.

He won't be able to just let it go, he won't be able to focus if the uncanniness is nagging him, so he walks over. Eyes widening with recognition. He calms himself, still not completely certain. He taps the man's shoulder. "Excuse me." The man faces him and when their eyes lock, his suspicion is confirmed. It's the prick that basically mugged him, the bastard( ). Aster's face flickers through a flurry of emotions. He knows he looks stupid standing there, opened mouth, but it takes him a while to come to a decision.

If this was somehow not a dream, there was no point in picking battles and making enemies so soon. He says the first deflection that comes to his head.

"Are you a Magcargo? Because damn you're hot."

Fuck. He fucked up. Absolute worst case scenario. Aster really hoped, with all his heart, that this was all a stupid dream so he could wake up right bloody now.

The whispers seem to buzz from both above and in your minds, excited, and you feel the pressure.

looks to the ladder, hoping to find some clue of their containment. It's a metal ladder, rusted at the joints against the wall, but seems sturdy enough to hold even the heaviest among them.

But she looks closer, still.

Wet prints.

They're quickly swept away by as he rushes for the ladder, whatever evidence smeared away.



While Summer and Mint play with what's above, focuses, if unintentionally, on what's below. The Trapdoor, much like the ladder, shows age. Rust around the bolts.

Yet it doesn't budge under his attempts to move it, locked in place by some unseen mechanism.



takes the mid ground, not too high or low, and shakes the metal shutter. It rattles in place, wanting to open but obviously locked. No dice, for now.



is brave, touches the pool of growing red liquid, smearing it on fingers and giving it a sniff. Metal hits sharp in his nose.

It's Rust.

Yet when he tries to wipe it off, it will not go. The color stains his skin now, like a tattoo.

Cefin has been changed.






When steps closer to the board, she will find she's not the first one that's been there.

A rusty hand print and rusty scribblings accompany some type of symbol and code.



The monitor is bubbled, old tech, when examines it. The keyboard is dusty like it hasn't been used in a while, but it looks like the previous user has helpfully left their username in the field.

The bar blinks demanding a password. Maybe it's written down somewhere?

The eyes vibrate above.

CHEATER, they seem to say as they stare.

The additional buttons look to be a full selection of the Periodic Table. Sadly for you all, I was not willing to draw all that.





The broken tube has a few sharp shards of metal on the floor, which pockets. Never know when some jagged metal will come in handy. There isn't any left other than a few scraps, not big enough to do anything with.

The door has been splintered open but the inside shows more promise.

Scratched out messages and tally marks on the inner metal.

If he looks close, Locke might find a bit of blood in the scratches, as if the person bit into the skin and didn't care.

Who was in here?

Should he, or anyone else, look- none of the other containers have been touched inside, other than by your own efforts to escape.





The latch above, much like the one below, is locked tight with signs of rust.

But that's now why you're here, is it, ?

The nexus of eyes all shift as one to stare at Mint as he reaches forward. The eyeball ceiling is dark and seems to sparkle faintly up close, like glitter in nail polish. They eyes ripple and shift, making room for his hand.

It sinks inside.

It's thick like paint and clings, yet deeper inside feels chunky. It feels like it goes on forever yet he can only go as far as the limits of his body and the ladder will allow. Which is, to say, up to his elbow.

Then Mint will feel nothing at all.

When he pulls his arm back, the black goo sticks firmly to him. It sizzles in the air, burning like acid against his skin.

It sticks like a tattoo as it rapid dries.

Mint has been changed.






Stepping past , is intent on finding the dripping noise.

It's coming from the metal door.

The other side of the metal door.

Peering inside doesn't reveal much, but he does see more of the red Rust running down the inside of the door. The screws also look like they're starting to leak.

The door seems to be locked, though, so he can investigate this lead no further.

Yet seems up to the task of looking closer when steps away.
