Another day, another ego bruise towards the Ranger's battered up ego from the last few times he had come surfing. Last time he had unrivaled confidence that severely failed him but this time he was here out of obligation to prove himself he could achieve something in the surfing industry.[break][break]

With nothing to lose but his own sanity he would come back like a abusive relationship, although he had grown fond of the Mantine that had been with him every step of the way thus far, both in the failures and the one successful run. Maybe he was just here to hang out with his new pokemon friend and show that they could it if they worked together. Setting out to sea the two would do what they had grown used to. Flips, twirls, rolls all the fancy stuff trying to accomplish the biggest trick in the history of Mantine Surfing, the MAGIKARP SPLASH.[break][break]

Honestly, Gavin can't tell if he's getting better or worse at surfing. Maybe that taste of almost-accomplishment had been a fluke.

There's something to be said for brute force stubbornness, though, and he's not giving up until he gets that MAGIKARP SPLASH.

Having crushed his first trick in the second tier, Josh was ready to move onto one he was a bit nervous to attempt: the Starmie 720. The first half of the trick wouldn't be too bad, but the execution at the end would stretch the Mantine's turning capabilities to its limits, whirling around like the Pokémon it was named after. That second half is why the trick was rated a DIFFICULT 12. Setting his sights on a high wave to give him as much time as possible to execute the double spin, he set off on the Flying-type swimmer, commanding a big leap and making a sharp yank to the left at its peak...

Since he's going to be living in Hoenn now he might as well take part in all the activities that that the Hoenn people were taking part of, he had done it yesterday already so he might as well try it out again today just for the sake of it. Got to make sure to fit in.[break][break]

Lightly nodding towards the Mantine that he could only guess was the same one he used yesterday, he really didn't know. Pokemon appearance wasn't something he was exactly picky about, his life showed him that utility was far more useful than appearance so they all blended together unless they just happen to be a shiny. Taking to the water once more he would try once more the same thing from yesterday, flipping, twirling and spinning with the most deadpan facial expression that he could muster. Shalin was not surprised she got flung off the Mantine on her first attempt at the STARMIE 720. The transition from 9 to 10 was difficult in any other thing she had done with a similar rating system, and this was a jump from 9 to DIFFICULT 12. Her struggle was with having enough height after performing the quick rolls to get enough rotation speed for the two revolutions before hitting the water. She waited for a strong wave, and made her move...
